Gran Turismo 4 but I Race Online Against Real People

- Gran Turismo 4 Online is something I have been a huge fan of ever since the creation of new online servers back in the summer of 2021. Due to certain circumstances, neither me nor the squad I used to play with have been able to get on very often, leaving the servers feeling pretty dead.
I hope to change that with this video to draw in some new and old players back into the game for some very fun events in the future. Make sure you subscribe and hop in my discord if you want to join us at some point!

I m playing Only GT7 sport mode ... But when I turn on GT4 ... I don't need an online mode .. the Career is SOOOO GOOD, I forget online gaming exists... GRAN TURISMO 4 LIFE!!!
GT4 mod?
Sport Mode is ass compared to open Lobby., although lobbies we're alot more fun in GT5 and GT6 tbh
How do you have fun in a offline career in GT4? The ai is horrible.
@@xTonyTornado I would rather have the AI run into me a few times per session in GT4 than play against the GT7 ai where they brake 100m too early and rubberband back and forth 8 times a race.
@@xTonyTornado you can still get challenging races if you go undertuned, or just play the game as a sandbox car collection game. It's not about high level racing, it's mostly a car sandbox game. The driving missions are also a nice challenge. If you just want good AI races then yeah, it's not the game to go. If you want to fuck around with a huge library of shitboxes and try out different builds and such, it definitely is
The smooth multiplayer is beautiful to see. I'm used to the AI on rails that seeing actual players in GT4 is just a sigh to behold.
I'm definitely keen for some new GT4 online events, its a little stale atm but theres still some races with good players every now and then. Great vid rowdy :)
is this vanilla GT4? or a mod? and is this running on an Emulator?
@@NaldzHobbySideit's a differemt version of the game, you should check out the discord for ps2 online
@@KingLich451 im having a problem connecting online 👉"-106: A network authentication system error has occured."
ye would love some more events in gt4 ive done way to many challenge runs that the game gets dry hopefully the spec II mods comes out soon for that
you know the rule, if the races are boring, take ff cars lol
I’ve been playing through retail GT4 with the emulator and my XBOX controller. Though it’s nice to have a little better control with throttle sensitivity, brake modulation doesn’t really do much. Glad you and a few other channels are starting to really bring back strong interest in GT4 content.
How did you manage to play on retail mode? Last time I did they took the app of the microsoft store
Actually 206, Impreza and Focus aren't Group A cars. They are WRC. The easy way to tell is that they don't have a 4WD homologation road version. The Evo 6 was the last Group A car in World Rally Championship
I still have my beta disc! I’ll never part with it. It also starts you with like 99million dollars in career mode, which is sweet.
Awsome vid rowdy i think you just inspired me to try and figure out how to get gt4 online myself
does your wheel work with nightly? i cant get ffb working with mine unless i use pcsx2 1.6 + usbqemu plugin
the reason the physics don't oversteer and is hard to drift is because of the sport tires, they aren't very realistic, to drift properly you need standard tires and is perfectly possible
I drift in gt4 all the time, you need super hard tires with no aids and rwd. You can drift with the handbrake or with normal brake and its very fun, id highly reccomend
@@StreetSurf3r it's possible but there are better games to do that, even on the PS2. Even GT3 had better drift physics IMO (and so did Enthusia). TXR Drift 2 was another good one.
@@ElShogoso yeah for sure, i was thinking about getting gt3 just for the drifting, do you think its worth it if i already have gt4?
My experience with the gt4 physics is that it varies a lot with the tyres. On sports tyres (which some events in the campaign limit you to) I do find that fettering the throttle is still needed in cars with a lot of power, mostly to deal with the wheelspinning, and you most definitely can spin the car, especially mid-engine cars like the NSX. Trailbraking is a bit tricky but I do find that tapping the brakes just to shift the weight of the car is still valuable in this game. Racing tyres, especially softs and supersofts do glue your car to the ground though. I assume for online racing everyone is always running racing tires, so you might want to try running on sports tyres to make the driving a bit more challenging. But yes, it wasn't until GT5 and especially GT6 that the games became really unforgiving when it comes to throttle control. Midship cars in GT6 where nigh undrivable without traction control on.
About the FFB cutting off: keep an eye on any background apps wich could be interfering, under my experience the Xbox Game Bar LOVES to mess with fanatec's software stuff, if i accept an invite in FH5 the software literally just dies unanounced and needs to be reset. Sometimes after chatting with friends with the gane bar i'd loose the FFB until i re-focused to the game tab, literally the only two issues i've had with mine thus far. How's your experience been with your wheel? I have found that recomended settings are borderline USELESS, they're a terrible base to start from unless you know a little bit already, so i advice to check the forums or experiment yourself for the right settings
Super GT - Gran Turismo 4 Edition
Do you have a tutorial on making Fanatec force feedback work? I was really interested by that part!
The FFB cutting out on the wheel is a bug in the emulator/wheel implementation within the emulator.
I had the same with PCSX2, retail GT4 and my DD Pro when I tried that several months ago. And I did some searches back then for the FFB cutouts, and if I remember correctly, the wheel implementation in the emulator back then was very, very old and done without any actual tests due to lack of available wheels for the person who did it.
I found a fix for it. It’s a weird one but you have to map steering and FFB to USB port 2 as well. Haven’t had issues since
@@RowdyGT Oh that is good to know, thanks!
Only 4 people?
Wtf brother 😂😂😂😂
you definitely can trail brake in GT4 and it's definitely faster, either your car isn't set up to benefit from it or you're doing it wrong
Could be the way online physics are handled versus retail.
Lot of cars are understeery under breaking out of the box, but setup helps a lot. Brake bias and weight distribution make wonders, and I always use the brake mid corner.
Wow! I've just installed the online mode after your video and made some clean races with randoms. I'm up if you want to organize a tournament or something else :D (or just racing anyway)
GT5 braking kinda feels oversteer-ish at first, but once you get used to it it's: HAHA! Slip angle goes BRRR! (unless it's the Top Gear's Elise mission)
those midship cars in GT5 really weren't it huh. It was kinda disappointing, the NSX is my favorite car of all time and it was complete ass to drive in the ps3 games
personally i had to lower my csl dd ffb settings pretty low to stop the clipping on gt4, there was a guy who also talked about the clipping somewhere on youtube using a dd1
It’s not clipping but rather cutting out or shutting off completely at random and will sometimes kick back on if I pause the game, touch a wall or touch grass/dirt
GTPSP/GT4 online = fun
right now im all off in retro (1-5 gran turismo) racing. my ps3 says gt5 has no online support but u say 4 does??? pointed me in that direction, hope to see you there. unfortunatly 4 is the least completion % of all 5 i have. 9.1 % means i drive hard and win alot to catch up.
Were do you stream the gt4 LP?
I only stream Gran Turismo stuff here. If I feel like doing anything different it'll probably be on Twitch
Is it able to play on the console? This is one of the some games I still play on my PS2 on the weekends.
i dont think you can connect to the custom servers on a normal ps2 but if you have the game and a modded ps2 defently.
@@SledgerPlaysYT How much modded the PS2 need to be to connect the custom servers?
@@ericrodrigues3352 fully modded so custom firmware
@@ericrodrigues3352you need to be able to boot backup dvds, or boot opl, that all you need, and of course, connect the ps2 and setup the game
Can you make it in gtpsp
no adjustable fov for online ?
The secret settings menu still exists. Don’t know if anyone’s made a FOV adjustment .pnach for the online version yet
@@RowdyGT maybe need to check the forum likely someone post
I'd REALLY like to play gt4 online, but I can't get past the dnas screen
0:30 this is why i say GT4 its "Best Motoring the Videogame"
GT4 and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 were THE 90's JP VHS culture games tbh
inal hardware? emulator? u just said your using OBS
PCSX2
Graphics are pretty good actually.
I was never a fan of racing games when I was younger, because all my cousins and family members used to whoop my A$$ in them, I recently downloaded an emulator to play old racing ps2 games like TXR: Zero (which is my favorite right now) and man, they just dont make them like they used too
will this work using an Emulator? or only for real PS2 hardware and the game?
both

Gt3 and 4 and gtpsp are the best
damm that looks very awesome but god damm DNS glitch… i can’t play it.. such a trgedy
9:59 that's what i dislike the most about GT4, in 2 you could try thoose things and they work to a certain degree, even with the more arcade grip the cars have they slip in ways that made more sense, but GT4 feels borderline robotic, if you develop more advanced skills in other games like Forza Horizon you end up suffering more in it because you try to use the new cool skills you learned just to face plant on the wall instead of taking the corner
GT3 did that a lot better than GT4. It was kind of a downgrade really. Still, it varies a lot with tyres. Standard and hard sports tyres do have some slip. Anything from sports soft and better will glue the car to the asphalt. When it comes to sim physics on the PS2, I think Enthusia was king.
Why not just use a Logitech G27 or G29? GT4 identifies those wheels as the old Driving Force GT so they don't have any ffb issues. All you lose is the use of your H shifter and clutch.
The Fanatec is staying on the rig. It would take way too long to put the G29 on it just to play 1 game. Also GT4 never had a clutch or H pattern functionality
Too bad the original GT4 PS2 only supports online if it is via LAN
your graphic settings please?
he has a tutorial video, look there
Great video!
God bless, Jesus loves you!
Could you make a short vid on how to setup a wheel on gt4? I have a g29 that I can't for the life of me get to work right in this game.
It’s included in my emulation settings guide video
Long live GT4
even longer ❤
