    24:46 they don’t do that because they’re focused on getting out of the turbulence/getting permission from ATC to reroute. Can’t go anywhere different without permission, even if just a bit. They don’t even contact the crew 😅
    Also we do sometimes get scared, but it’s natural. Usually we are focused on making sure passengers are strapped in, but when it’s moderate to severe and we are told to sit down, we are advised to stay seated so we don’t get hurt too.
    Most injuries crew suffer are while securing the cabin. I’ve had friends break bones and all sorts when securing when they should’ve sat down and done an announcement instead

    Flight attendant here. We definitely disarm the emergency doors once leaving for the night. So she would have just opened the door to an empty drop off. Although window exits are always armed and ready to be deployed with a slide

    Here’s another fact! If passengers aren’t secure in time and the plane waits just 1 minute extra by the runway, it burns the same amount of fuel as driving from london to Manchester. And if the plane has to hold (circle) before landing because again, the cabin isn’t secure in time, it’s burns the same amount of fuel as a 747 flying from London to Cairo.
    And fuel is expensive 😂 tonnes of it in each wing. Planes cost hundreds of thousands to fly. Delays also cost a few hundred k

    I feel like all the plane issues make my flying anxiety worse bc I was always trying to convince myself that the plane is fine but realistically there always could be something wrong with the plane especially the whole Boeing thing:/

  • @krunkkree3559
    @krunkkree3559 6 месяцев назад +2

    fun fact fuselage is actually the body of the aircraft, fuel is typically stored in the wings

    34:09 it nosed dived because the pilots went down to a safe altitude. It’s called a rapid decompression. It was under control but yeah, f that. I hope I never have to experience one. And the reason it took 10 mins is probably due to high terrain

    My parents just flew sun country airline home from New York and the plane had to turn around from low cabin pressure. Before the announcement, the plane was literally dipping up and down so violently my mom threw up, and the oxygen masks never even dropped down. They were held in New Jersey for 10 hours until another plane from the Minneapolis airport could take them home. Long story short airlines fucking suck

    • @xoALSox
      @xoALSox 6 месяцев назад

      Masks drop at certain altitudes, varies by aircraft type. So it’s likely it wasn’t yet above that height. Still.. sounds awful!

    • @xoALSox
      @xoALSox 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@juliacrocker178 well I meant general questions about aviation. That’s not the norm! But likely she’d have been found by a very frightened engineer when he or she opened the door and found her the next morning. The crew are at fault here. We have to do a sweep of the cabin for lost items or anything unusual after disembarkation. So to miss a whole human is crazy. Not only for the person left onboard but a HUGE security and safety breach.
      When the plane lands from the last flight of the day, cleaners sometimes don’t come on right away, like usual. But even if they do, we have to sweep the cabin and do security checks just like we do when we board before the flight. I imagine the plane night stopped and cleaners weren’t due on until a few hours later. But yeahhhhh that’s bad! Would never happen in europe

    What I truly do not understand one bit is *why the fuck* aren’t airplanes designed so everyone just puts their bag *directly* above the seat? How how how does it end up being where people have to put their bags elsewhere?

    • @xoALSox
      @xoALSox 6 месяцев назад

      Because people bring extra. And they also put smaller items up there even though we do countless announcements saying to put them under the seat in front. Smaller bags, jackets, coats, duty free… basically if it fits under the seat in front, that’s where it should go.
      I did an announcement today and a man literally looked at me as I was speaking into the intercom… while putting all the small items above. Of course I went and told him to take them down again as we had at least 60 more passengers joining.
      The only time they listen is when you explain how if we have to put some bags into the hold we will be significantly delayed. They only consider others when it effects themselves… in other words; they don’t consider others.
      These are the same kind of people who will leave a huge suitcase hanging out of a bin as they know it won’t close. Uhhh ok 6ft 5 man… If you can’t get it to close, how will I? Again, of course we tell them to move it or turn it the other way.
      People’s oversized cabin baggage or lack of consideration for other passengers is the number 1 reason for most delays. Because of it, we miss our slot and have to wait for another one

    I'd love a childless plane cause of my hearing sensitivity despite wearing earplugs and kids being loud as hell (I work at a grocery store). But also because fuck em. It's one thing to have a kid crying, it's a whole other thing when the parents just don't give a damn and let it happen for 4½ hours.
    Edit: a swatting episode would be great!
