in the first stanza of the song Busch sings "Im weiten Feld im Pappelhain" (Which is a light forest full of poplars) "Befrag die Birken an dem RAIN" not Rhine. The Rhine is a river very far in the west of Germany, where in all probability no Russian soldier is buried (referring to the line "dort wo er liegt in seinem Grab, den russischen Soldaten frag"). Meant is a Rain, which means as much as field edge or wayside. This could be misleading. If it is possible, please change it so that no one here misunderstands. Thank you very much. Thats one of the most beautyful Songs of UdSSR.

Reading these comments, it is clear people don't understand that this is an anti-war song. In the lyrics he is asking Russian citizens if they wont war, something they don't, but their government says the contrary. This is actually how the situation in Russia is and people are instead poking fun of Russia without even understanding the lyrics themselves
It says the government doesn't either. "Russia" wasn't a thing when this song was written.
If that was an anti government song then it would not have been allowed in the USSR. What they are meant to imply is that both the government and the people don't want war.
The Russians want war. Clearly. 60% of the Russian population supports a war of aggression.
It was not an anti-war song, it was a patriotic song adressed to enemy's citizens: Do you think that russians want war?

It might unfortunately take a long time for government reforms in your country. The current governmental system's style goes way back in history and it may take a long time to get rid of those roots that were the main thing that started the corruption in the first place.

0:25 This isn't about the river Rhine (Rhein), it's about either a Feldrain (some sort of border: de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldrain ) or a Rain, which in some German regions is a word for slope/hillside, althoung the standard German word would be Hang.
But both Rain and Feldrain are pronounced exactly the same as the river Rhein.

A slight correction 'Weltenbrand' ought to have been translated as 'world-fire' or 'world conflagration', meaning a worldwide disaster or conflict
And I thought it means a revolution, not a disaster
Also, at 0:25, I am pretty certain that there has been a phonetic confusion. It just so happens hat "der Rhein" (the river Rhine) and "der Rain" (a baulk, meaning a strip of vegetation bordering a field) sound exactly the same in German. I can see where the confusion is coming from as "der Rain" is not at all a commonly used word, but "der Rhein" would make no sense as the Soviets never reached the river Rhine during WW2. Moreover, birches being pioneer trees commonly grow on the transitional zone between forests and the open landscape, so it would make perfect sense for them to be found at a "Rain".

Hungary wasn't invaded by Russia until it joined the Axis, and Russia never invaded the Baltics we just took them once from Poland, then from Germany, Russia never directly engaged with Baltics.

But for those who live it, it's much harder and most people don't understand how horrible war can be at its worst. Photos and videos certainly don't do it justice. Forgiveness of death, rape, destruction, and murder isn't something anyone could easily forgive and saying you can is a lie. And war isn't bad or good. It's a tool people use for a reason. Wars are inevitable and they can be extremely complex, far more complex than just being able to talk your way out of it like everyone wants to do. If someone breaks into your home with one purpose in mind, you won't be able to talk your way out of it.
