Today is 12th of April, 2022. 61 years ago on this day, a man by the name of Yuri Gagarin, with the help of USSR space program, has become the first man to leave the atmosphere of Earth and enter Cosmos. In the Vostok capsule he circled around the planet’s orbit and returned back, setting a monumental achievement in human history. This event became one of the checkpoints in the space race and, of course, has inspired many, myself included. What I want to say, is that we all should remember what people were able to achieve that day. I want all of the people reading this, to remember time to time what the exploration of cosmos has given us - a cause. A cause greater than any war, a cause that united us and will unite us. I want you to remember this achievement as not one of USSR, Russia, of any country really, but one of humanity as a whole. This day, this achievement should serve as a reminder of what has already been done, and what can be done. Не дайте разборкам и войнам разрушить, что построили наши предки. Слава тем, кто смотрел, смотрит, и будет смотреть ввысь!
When the soviets sent the first satellite into space the americans where scared but when the Americans landed a man to space the soviets congratulated them but it was the achievement of mankind.
Because in general, Russia (the USSR) did not conduct propaganda at the level of feature films like: "Russians will come and rape you, your wife, your dog and a tree near the house because they are COMMUNISTS!!! and Russians." as a result, the inhabitants of the USSR saw in the inhabitants of the West victims of capital, and in russians and social. Block in general, the West saw a multi-million zone of maniacs only wanting to kill the population of some small town, such as Rock-springs . And as a result, when the United States could not become the first in space, did not send 1 person into space, the population thought that EVERYTHING! They are finished, now the fucking commi will jump from their companion directly into the cities and will kill, rape and take their lives!!! Aaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Yuri's flight into space was one of the greatest achievements for all mankind. He's a symbol, not of Soviet's might, but of humanity's triumph of reaching the stars.
My grandmother lived in a village on the Volga. She was only nine years old. She saw a burning kameta in the sky and shouted to the whole village, "GAGARIN IS FLYING!" Then she told me this story for a long time. She's 72 now. She lives with us and tells us a lot of interesting stories from the countryside.
Yuri Gagarin, the first man crazy enough to agree to be strapped to a rocket and encircle earth multiple times. This music piece sounds oddly relaxing too. I love it.
Why crazy? The astronaut is the best from the best! They are never crazy, especially the first of them. He is a hero not a madman. Maybe in Hollywood there is a bunch of "mad" heroes but that's not working in reality.

The winner of space race are not US nor USSR, it's the humanity.
It's the USSR
Who was the first one says Moon landing was a goal for space races? I really curious. Soviet did have a robot on multiple planets already, wasn't it a better thing than a risk of human life? We tend to think that wireless things are better so they improve to make wireless more efficient, but why not same with the Moon landing? I really curious about this, no ideology involved
@Polish & French Nationalist the soviets landed on the moon first (the Luna 9)
@Polish & French Nationalist NASA litteraly lost three times more cosmonauts than Intercosmos... And landing on the moon was main goal? So exploration of space ended because some guy said his line on rock in space??? Oven if so, Soviet Union did it first (Luna 9)...
@Evening Inchworm USA was first to land a man on the moon. Theres a difference between being first there and sending a man first there.
I still love the fact that the Soviets we’re talking t among themselves and went, “what should we call out first satellite?” “How about we just call it satellite?” “That’s a great name!!!”
Satellite 1, probably to rub it in to the West that they were the first in space, despite the West having German scientists and access to the V2 rocket, which was the most advanced rocket in the world, well until the Soviets shattered the American illusion that they were more technologically advanced.

Since we two were one nation for centuries. Staring from Kievan Rus, into Tsardoms, Zaporozhian Cossacks serving Russian Tsar, to Russian Empire and then USSR.
Yes, ngl, not always Ukrainians voluntarily lived together with Russians, but all this “Ukrainian independent movement” is a thing that started in 1918 when Empire collapsed. Before that Ukrainian language and culture did exist, but Ukrainians lived peacefully with Russians :)
Same bro, for me this song remind me of a 80's cartoon that i never watch.
As an American, I think we should give the Soviets more credit for what they did in Space. Besides, they did a lot more space exploration than we did, while WE were busy being the so-called “Peacemakers” (Yes I know we did space exploration but still), even though we and the Soviets nearly made the Human population go extinct by making the foolish decision to do a nuclear war against each other, which didn’t happen thankfully because we and they realized that the earth will cease to exist. Anyways, even the (sadly forgotten in Western culture) legend himself, Yuri Gagarin deserves at least more credit for his amazing career in space than just Neil Armstrong! (And yet, we give Neil credit more than Gagarin just because he went to the moon first) He was crazy enough, but in a good way to fly around space so many times, the first would be 109 minutes. It’s still sad that we lost him so early..

And the Soviet Union did this in forty years after revolution, with the country being crippled by the First World war, the civil war, the Second World war. The Soviet Union was not perfect, but communism can't be rejected entirely with such progress.
From a feudal and underdeveloped backwater, to a space faring superpower with free education, housing, and health care, all within 40 years. What an astonishing and monumental achievement, 40 years… from nothing, to the second most powerful state on the planet.
