I have never had a celebrity endorsed tequila. But I have in the past learned this similar lesson the hard way when buying celebrity endorsed Whiskey and Bourbon. None of them were worth the money.
People defend these celebrities as if they’re related to them AND purchase their terrible brands. Zero quality and respect for the OGs that have been in the game. The fact that they can’t see it’s pure marketing and business is too real. Thanks for making this video! I see I’m not alone.
I always make it a point to support Mexican owned mezcal and tequila. Banhez (mezcal) comes to mind. Great products, affordable price. There is no reason to buy the celebrity brands when you can get much better quality for less money from sustainable, Mexican owned and operated brands
I really appreciate this video. In the not too distant past, I have purchased and enjoyed a couple of the brands shown here. But since then, I have been focused on buying and drinking "pure" spirits. Being of Mexican heritage, the message of truly supporting Mexican companies (and families) that take the time to produce the genuine product resonated with me. I currently have a couple bottles of Tres Agaves. Will definitely be looking for the brands you mentioned here and in other videos. I am grateful for your content, the effort you put into these videos and for the education I have received as a result. Gracias. 🙏
I can attest that these Celebrity Tequilas are actually making getting into tequila really hard. I'm extremely new to tequila, and alcohol in general, and just finding a bottle at the liquor store is a nightmare. 75% of the stuff that isn't top shelf is either a gimmick bottle, a horrible brand, or a celebrity tequila. So I either have to spend my entire alcohol budget on a great bottle of tequila (something I want to do after I have more experience with the liquor) or I can spend 20-30 minutes reading through every lable in the store to find a decent $30 bottle that wasn't made by horrible people. I'm glad people are shedding light on these people's awful practices. Good work
People just blindly support celebs and anything they do as if they're these great amazing people. I get people giving me grief all the time about saying bad things about celebrity tequilas. No matter how much sen sense it makes
Bit late here, but have you tried Santo Fino? Supposedly it's pretty good, zero additives, etc., though honestly my pallette isn't adequately trained to appreciate quality tequila.
I see what you say here and I'm Partially agree. My main reason i don't like celebrity alcohol products because they usually cost up to twice (maybe more) than really good alcohol brands but they're not necessarily as good.
Man, they came to our lands close to Jalisco wanting to buy them so they could plant Agave. The demand of more land for agave is leading to reduced production of our corn, wheat and other crops plus when you sell to big distiliries, they don't keep up with it, they leave that land for the 8 years it takes to the agave plant. This in turns makes for an eye sore of your once highly ferile lands. What you see in the commercials is not the actuality. Just feeding you more marketing. F**k those brands! Thanks for the vid.
I’m a whiskey man myself. Just started to Get into tequila. Been watching your vids but when you told me you dislike Lebronica James you bet I SUBSCRIBED. Can’t stand out of touch celebrities. Looking forward to learning more!
Lol at Mr. Luí pronouncing Fortaleza with a Portuguese accent. Tamos juntos irmão! Thank you for you content and I’m glad you and others enjoy Mexico’s culture and product 🤝🏾🇲🇽🇧🇷
Tequila making has such a artistic rich history. It's insulting to see these celebrities cheapen a beautiful "trago." I am sure none of them have sat down with a good tequila and listened to "Los Panchos" in their backyards. They don't get cultural connection to tequila! Salud!
Hi Lui, great to see a rant from you longer than your beloathed Tik Tok shorts. The celeb promotion of their purchased barrels is a global problem across rums, whisky, whiskey, bourbon, cognac as well. But the pressure it is putting on the Mexico specific agave cultivation and cropping is having, as you have said, a devastating effect on the long term wellbeing of the agave plants and their Mexican farmers. It cannot be right! Nick from York
Nick! My friend! Happy to hear from you. Yes I'm trying to be more regular with my long videos but i don't have all that much time unfortunately but hopefully soon I'll get someone to help me and ill be able to get more regular videos out But yes! You were spot on with everything you said.
Nice video! I was a spirits manager at Total Wine. This is a touchy subject but I would bring it up with the intellectually curious customers. Lots of alcohol is bought as gifts so I would question them on who the drinker is. Is he a tequila snob? For your daughter? Etc…. Great video!
I absolutely hate tequila. Can't stand the taste, and I like my spirits straight. But I do get the argument he is making. Pushing out real mexican distillers and letting these crappy brands take hold is gonna kill real tequila. Only a few brands will survive, and it's sad to see something like that happen to a staple of Mexican history.
Thank you my friend. Yes that's exactly it. Especially because Tequila is so labor intensive it takes a lot of effort to make tequila so these big companies coming in and just throwing a ton of money and cutting corners is super detrimental to the industry
It started with Cabo Wabo, which was decent. But then the dam broke and every celebrity wanted in. I won't buy a celebrity tequila. I wish the tequila distilleries would be more selective and demanding on who they partner with.
Thank you for this info I'm no longer giving a cent to the weak tequila . I really respect and appreciate you for letting us know what the real deal is
Yes!!! Yes!!! Muchas gracias for a great explanation, that's why my favorite tequilas either come from The Gonzalez's, The Zauza's or the Orendain's....
I appreciate your videos and I think you 100% right with the crappy celebrity tequilas I live in Chicago and I had a bottle of Fortaleza which is impossible to find and they really jacked the prices up. It’s like $110 for the Anejo
In Bahrain bars and restaurants when we got the food set out and people were ready to go through the line. They were serving their usual bagels, cereal and fruit. As the group filed through, people were asking if we had any plain bagels or cinnamon raisin with tequila. Someone was upset that we ran out of plain vodka and was complaining to the volunteer serving. From somewhere in the back of the line a person yelled,"Quit holding up the line! Beggars can't be choosers
Thank you so much for sharing this link to me!! Very informative!! I had no idea any of that was going on. I'm also going to have my husband watch this too, so again thank you so much for teaching me and many others!!
You're so welcome! I'm happy we got something out of this video 😁🙏 it is a very complex issue and this just kinda scratches the surface and doesn't go into the nuance of things.
@@Lui_Fern exactly. Look in a liquor store aisle. The shelves are filled with dozens of products, from $10.99 to $64.99. other than money, how do you choose? But if you know Kevin Hart is drinking this, Rick Ross is drinking that, Timothy Chalamet drinks this...That's what you buy because you don't KNOW what quality is or what it tastes like yet. I knew about Ciroc vodka when a bartender told me at the time, it was the only vodka made from grapes . Cool. 2-3 years later, Diddy enters into a partnership with Circo, now its on tv, in GQ magazine and in videos. Now people are coming to me like "Yo, you gotta drink Ciroc! its triple distilled!" They JUST discovered it after Diddy 's promotion, but it was ignored on the shelf for years

Truly appreciate the knowledge and education out out in your vids. I’ve noticed some tequilas seem too vanilla-sh or the oak is a bit sharp. I suspected manipulation but you confirmed my suspicions. I will check out tequila matchmaker and my next bottle will b me Fortaleza
Bravo! THANK YOU for sharing the Truth about Celebrity Tequilas. I hope you continue to inform the public about Mexicos Agave and the issues with celebrity tequilas. They don't taste great! And it comes at a cost to Mexican heritage, culture, and environment. This should matter to everyone. This is where the product you buy and consume is made. Respecting where and how products are made and buying accordingly is a good practice for buying consciously sourced products in an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious way, which means you are buying Quality. Go for quality, the Mexican way. Thank you for sharing, Lui. 😊
Ah Luis - Come one let LeBron make a few more Billion dollars.. I for one will not buy any celeb tequila (or bourbon) I saw a clip a while back from tequilamatchmaker that showed how the bad celeb tequilas all rated poorly in blind tests. Keep them coming - Love your videos.
Hahahahahhaa LeBron needs MORE money? Doesn't this man have enough 😂😂 and yes exactly. Tequila Match maker is the best resource to use for these things
Eye opening!! Very glad I found you and definitely appreciated the knowledge you share. I am guilty of the celebrity tequilas but I just a funny feeling it wasn't True to 100% driven Agave! I'll be sticking to my Tequila Ocho. Thank You Brother!
This is a really informative video filled with great knowlege-except, in the Los Altos region sur (Arandas, Atotonilco el Alto, Betania, San Jose de Gracia, San Franciso de Asis, pretty much anyplace you have red clay soil), your plants, if you give then lots of fertilizer will mature in year 5. Also, I recently learned a few months back that farmers are now installing irrigation systems to water their agave plants in the dry season (2nd week of October-1st week of June, "therein: to quote Bugs Bunny) and by doing this, the piñas are growing even bigger. With the plants having pesticides, mixed with the water, seeping into the soil and subsequently landing in basins that humans use, that could be a big problem down the line. too much corruption down yonder so a blind eye is turned. As long as la lana keeps landing.
I had el Tesoro reposado. By far the best tequila I've ever had. Better than Don Julio I have to say. Haven't had Fortaleza yet, but I plan to get a bottle soon.
Thank you!!! I tried George Clooney's about 4 yrs ago and hated it. Since then I've stayed away from celebrity tequilas. It's unfortunate that tequila is being stolen like this. I predict Mezcal is next. Been curious if you could taste test Anteel, would love to know your thoughts on it
I hope you are wrong, but reality is you are likely correct. However, I do have to say Casamigos Mezcal was my gateway into the world of Mezcal. BUT, I do now only look for those spirits that are the real deal and support Mexican businesses.
Lui my understanding is that blanco tequilas are not allowed to use additives at all by law? Are you saying the brands you mention still use them? Otherwise definitely overpriced!
I love your passion for Tequila, I also like that you care about your people and for the environment as do I. I'm a tequila newbie, thank you for your Cimarron Blanco recommendation, I love it. I went to a store to buy some tequila, they happened to be doing a taste testing of Nosotros Blanco and Reposado, loved both, but I liked the Reposado better, loved the story how the company began. Keep up the great videos. If I was a celebrity, I would want something that was amazing as my name would be tied to that brand.
Wait... George Clooney sold Casamigos? Sammy Hagar sold Cabo Wabo? What the F... Is nothing sacred? I'm just kidding. I'll go ahead and grab some Santo Fino, somewhat for the Sammy Hagar connection, but mostly because it's one of the few brands my local store carries that are 100% agave, zero additives. I'll also be grabbing some Tequila Ocho and Tres Agaves, 'cuz those are the others.
Haven't tried it myself, didn't even realize she had a tequila hahahaha but based on the stuff in this video here I'd just stay away from it. Even if it's passable it won't be great so I'd drink other brands anyway
I just don't understand why that all picked tequila, and not whiskey, because whiskey had gotten crazy popular too. Maybe it's because whiskey people pride themselves on knowing thier sh*t, (as do tequila people, but tequila people are less common in English speaking countries) so they couldn't get away with selling overpriced trash. I'm a beautician, and I'm so tired of them selling overpriced garbage makeup and skincare too. I know how you feel.
Because celebrities names aren't on the bottle, i had NO IDEA these brands were celebrity made/owned etc. I don't know how, but everybody Black absolutely loves Casamingos. Any thoughts on Herradura? It was recommended to me as a better Patron alternative, and I enjoy the spicier taste. Now its pretty pricey
I understand the message about celebrities pocketing the money but Teremana actually did it the right way. Plenty of citations for it as well as many many reviews. But you definitely have a point with alot of others!
Nice video Lui. The problem with most people who buy celebrity tequila is they buy it so they can name drop to friends and family . They don't care about how its made. Whats next? Apple making tequila?. Sorry but I'll never order a I Margarita.
Exactly. It's more about the clout than the product. But it baffles me that they'd be willing to pay sometimes twice as much for some celeb tequila rather than something well made
I work at a liquiot store and I recommend someone to buy Lalo (blanco) which is a tequila you mentioned here before that is additive free. The dude refused because he did not know the brand and instead went with Teramana because he trust the rock and thinks its good lol also PS I work with someone who thinks the rock is not on roids lol... seriously ppl put celebs on pedestals
I sell this stuff all day long, and people love these products. I haven’t tried all of them, but the Guy What-is-Name product is the worst I’ve tried, and the Jenner 818 I actually liked. I would never buy any of them though, I can live without celebrity endorsements.
Tequila Matchmaker is the Best Guide to Knowing Where Stuff is Made and how many Brands are made at 1 Distillery.... the More Brands means Very Generic & Probably Overpriced Celebrity Rapid Low Quality Mass Production Product. Also look at if there is a Massive Spirits Parent Corporation owning Multiple Brands in Multiple Countries Like Diaego (Ruins Original Quality Small Batch Tequila Brands)
Del maguey vida is ass I’m ab to try this tesoro u talkn bout how much better is fortaleza tho, & what ab this don julio 70 I’m hearing is tht the GOAT
My problem with the it’s taking away from Mexico thing is everyone does this with every spirit… champagne is from France but people make champagne everywhere bourbon is from Kentucky but there are other places that make bourbon… I don’t think the celebrity tequila is gonna take away from the Mexican industry who would even want that over the real thing I go to Mexico once a year and man I’ve had tequila there that’s so much better than anything I’ve had in the states hands down
You actually can't legally call your product Champagne if it doesn't come from the champagne region of France. Bourbon is legally only made in the U.S not just Kentucky.
It is has anything to do with a celebrity I keep far far away from it. I tried George Clooney's brand as I was reading all the great reviews about it. I had one shot and gave the bottle away. I have three brands that I stick with, Fortaleza, El Tesoro, and Milagro. Most of the time I go with Reposado, but now and then I try Blanco and Anejo.
the kendall/kyrie whatever the f he rname is commercial was just "who told you that was a good idea". She couldve had a latina do it, or a frjiend with a latino talking about tequila and being exceited.. anyways most of those celeb tequilas are bad. I would say I'd prefer to use teremana for margarita mix only because jose cuervo is worse. And im not using my better tequilas for party margaritta. I'll keep it for friends and family
I heard Guy’s is actually decent, though I’ll never buy it. I was pissed when my gal used to order Casamigos lol. Now she knows better. I think the rock & Clooney are rich enough, not about to give them more money for an inferior product
I would buy celebrity tequilas IF those celebrities happen to be Mexican other wise its aA HUGE pass for me, I did like the rock but when I saw he "made" his tequila I was disappointed and just fed up with all these people that have no idea or ties to our culture making $$$$ from it and in reality that's all they care about
What if someone likes something about your culture? Do they have to pass an ancestry test before they can participate? Celebrities make bad tequila because they are amateurs selling an overpriced product. Race has nothing to do with it.
Teremana puts more information on how the tequila's made on the back of the bottle than any other tequila I've seen. They're due credit for their transparency.
Honestly i disagree. Every bottle of tequila had a NOM number on them. You can look up this NOM on a site like Tequila Match Maker and find out all of the info you need. Teremana when you do that shows you A LOT of interesting information. They are not very transparent.
@@Lui_Fern Yes, but I don’t need to download an app to read the back of a label. I mean, what’s the Internet connectivity like at your local liquor store?

Thank you for the truth and the references brotha 🙏🏼
Have you tried Almave, how does it compare?
Thank you!!! I tried George Clooney's about 4 yrs ago and hated it. Since then I've stayed away from celebrity tequilas. It's unfortunate that tequila is being stolen like this. I predict Mezcal is next. Been curious if you could taste test Anteel, would love to know your thoughts on it
Yes i unfortunately i do think Mezcal is next. I mean you have the dudes from Breaking bad with their mezcal already so i do think it's next
I hope you are wrong, but reality is you are likely correct. However, I do have to say Casamigos Mezcal was my gateway into the world of Mezcal. BUT, I do now only look for those spirits that are the real deal and support Mexican businesses.
@@Lui_Fern Lenny Kravitz already started with the Sotol...😔😔
@@joseraulchavez3085 i saw that! And that upsets me.
Jorge masvidal has mezcal too.
Muy chevere el vídeo Luis! Gracias por la información 👏
Por nada amigo! 😁
Thanks for the Tequila Matchmaker tip also!
You're very welcome! That website is a game changer!
What do you think of Selma Hyak tequila? I’ve been looking everywhere for a review and can’t find one!!
Haven't tried it myself, didn't even realize she had a tequila hahahaha but based on the stuff in this video here I'd just stay away from it. Even if it's passable it won't be great so I'd drink other brands anyway
@@Lui_Fern I would absolutely appreciate your review on it! 🙏🕊🤍
I just hope they don’t go into whiskey, bourbon or rum. I don’t want to see my favorite drinks become a product to be sold by celebrity shills.
There are Celeb Rums and Bourbons already
Totally awesome video! Thank you
Thank you my friend ! Thanks for the kind words 😁 happy you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for sharing this information Brother 😎. Tucson Arizona Desert 🏜️. I gained much knowledge! 🤔👍
Happy to help! 😁🙏
Excellent video and information! Thank you!
I just bought bottle of 30 30 anejo and checked it was properly made in Mexico
Because celebrities names aren't on the bottle, i had NO IDEA these brands were celebrity made/owned etc. I don't know how, but everybody Black absolutely loves Casamingos.
Any thoughts on Herradura? It was recommended to me as a better Patron alternative, and I enjoy the spicier taste. Now its pretty pricey
1K 👍 thanks for the information brother
You're so welcome friend
Can you do a review of Código tequila of George Strait
Thank you for contents like this, I’m more informed.
Your welcome! Happy you enjoyed it!
Great video!
Thank you! 😁🙏🏼 Happy you enjoyed it
I understand the message about celebrities pocketing the money but Teremana actually did it the right way.
But it baffles me that they'd be willing to pay sometimes twice as much for some celeb tequila rather than something well made
Thank you for validating my extreme hangovers and hatred for the tequilas my rich friends drink all the time. Disgusting and makes me wanna die
Much appreciated!
Omg dude, the audio!!! Love you but it hurts when I’m wearing buds. Bud.
I sell this stuff all day long, and people love these products. I haven’t tried all of them, but the Guy What-is-Name product is the worst I’ve tried, and the Jenner 818 I actually liked. I would never buy any of them though, I can live without celebrity endorsements.
LeBron should know better
What about Cabo Wabo? That was the celebrity tequila before it was actually a thing.
I’m so glad I found this I will be buying the tequila you recommend ❤
Teramana wasn’t a hit with my family.
Otaca...IZO...ARGEX...GO GET SOME!
Bro the faces u make r hilarious😂
Del maguey vida is ass I’m ab to try this tesoro u talkn bout how much better is fortaleza tho, & what ab this don julio 70 I’m hearing is tht the GOAT
I don't like cristalinos. I find them to be awful.
@@Lui_Fern damn whats the difference between them and añejo? And is don julio 70 the best don julio?
Teremana is water with zero alcohol content.
Thank You
My problem with the it’s taking away from Mexico thing is everyone does this with every spirit… champagne is from France but people make champagne everywhere bourbon is from Kentucky but there are other places that make bourbon… I don’t think the celebrity tequila is gonna take away from the Mexican industry who would even want that over the real thing I go to Mexico once a year and man I’ve had tequila there that’s so much better than anything I’ve had in the states hands down
You actually can't legally call your product Champagne if it doesn't come from the champagne region of France. Bourbon is legally only made in the U.S not just Kentucky.
The Lobos looks like a bottle of Canola oil.
I concur bro
Thanks friend!
Yeah casamigos is garbage and it's a good rule.of thumb to just avoid Celeb Tequilas as a whole!
the kendall/kyrie whatever the f he rname is commercial was just "who told you that was a good idea".
Yeah I'm shocked anyone approved that video. Like how do you look at that and think "This is a good idea" its insane
Patron is the reason for all of this, so we can think patron
I would actually point to casamigos are being the biggest culprit. After they sold for 1 billion every celeb hopped on the bandwagon.
I heard Guy’s is actually decent, though I’ll never buy it. I was pissed when my gal used to order Casamigos lol. Now she knows better. I think the rock & Clooney are rich enough, not about to give them more money for an inferior product
The lobo tequila looks like corn oil mazola 😂😂😂
I would buy celebrity tequilas IF those celebrities happen to be Mexican other wise its aA HUGE pass for me, I did like the rock but when I saw he "made" his tequila I was disappointed and just fed up with all these people that have no idea or ties to our culture making $$$$ from it and in reality that's all they care about
Yes exactly. it's very dissapointing and just plain awful tbh
@@msrlapin99 it's 2022 I'd expect it to be pretty good. A label is just another marketing tool. Doesn't mean it's true what's in there
@@Lui_Fern Plot twist: it sucks. I know. I work in a liquor store.
@@msrlapin99 oh snap!
Im guilty of having casa migos anejo. Never bought a bottle, just a copa here and there. Will never support any thing Kartrashian or other celebs
Do you know anything about the coramino tequila quality?
Not yet. I'm planning on getting a bottle soon to do a full review
@@Lui_Fern thanks
Wow thanks that’s a pretty cool website
Criticizing a particular tequila is okay, but going through this video, it’s completely ridiculous. This entire video is ridiculous
Like you for telling the Truth.
I agree Till I tried Number Juan Extra Añejo
