I recently switched for my first meal of the day to be savoury and protein focused, it helps reducing the sleepy feeling after food which follows the glucose spike caused by a sweet/carb focused breakfast! So much energy and feeling full until lunch 👍🏼
I used to get bloated stomach, from simplest foods, like an apple. But I figured out that if I have a meal with fruit or vegs to have it with some fat and protein. So an apple with a handful of walnuts or almonds doesn't cause me any bloating. A salad topped generously with tahini, or good olive oil with some nuts and seeds and a few cubes of tofu = calm stomach. An oatmeal topped with fruit is kindnest to me, but I always add some nut butter and cinnamon to it. I also use ginger and turmeric a lot (in spreads and dips) which is calming for the stomach and has so many nutritional benefits. Regarding green tea, I love it too, but I'm careful with it. It interferes with iron absorption. I make sure not to have it too close with my meals. And I mix it up with herbal teas that have all sorts of benefits. Cookingforpeanuts is a channel on youtube that has a lot of good nutritional info and simple, healthy recipes. It has helped me so much. I have been a vegan since early 2000. ❤
your eating routines are very autism-friendly and i am here for it! i feel so seen wanting things to go by as automatically and cost ast little effort as possible, and STILL provide me a delicious meal/a nice experience every time :D
I moved my workout time in the last month from afternoon to early morning. It is amazing how better it makes me feel. Now I exercise in the gym from 5:30, and have breakfast afterwards. Having this kind of exercise regime lead to a change of what I eat for breakfast. Now I opt for protein rich foods and overall bigger meal. But I feel energized majority of the day. I never thought I would be able to have a good workout on an empty stomach, but here we are.
Thank you! The chickpeas look yummy yummo :) I'm prescribed Vitamin D, but only just learned that Vitamin K is required for absorption. (Just saying, that's the only prescription I'm taking currently!) We are what we eat.
Not a vegan, but I love this video as inspiration to add more vegetables to my diet. Making a large chickpea salad once a week is my current favorite. I spoon a lot into a tortilla w/ arugula to make wraps for lunch. It's so good!
I had emergency surgery last year from a perforation (apparently I had a pouch in my small intestine that I didn’t know about and it got inflamed and infected and POP). This resulted losing about 12 inches of my small intestines and they took my appendix because it was procedure. Since then, I have noticed I don’t feel too well when I eat a certain amount of seeds, nuts, popcorn, etc. And my digestive flora is still out of whack because of all of the antibiotics they had to put me on to avoid going septic. It’s getting there though. So lots of dietary changes. Intermittent fasting (16-8), multi vitamins, and a daily probiotic. My it’s been over 6 months and even though I’m better, I still have a lot healing to do.
I had horrible inflammation of the stomach and ever since I had to be careful what I eat. Congee as a soother and fermented food like Kimchi or Sauerkraut help with my gut flora. ❤ Wishing you the best ❤
@@EmpressCosplay - I just saw your response, I apologize. I hope you are doing better!!! And i just incorporated kimchi back in my diet along with any fermented veggies. A lot of testing to see what I react to.
Finally! The FIRST person on YT that I find that also doesn't do well with heavy breakfasts and just drinks tea :) I thought I was the only one!! Occasionally, if I am hungry I will eat a piece of fruit, but its mostly tea nowadays. Not even coffee, just plain tea (lemon ginger is my favorite).
Synchronicity! I'm cooking congee while watching this video. 😊 I enjoy food/recipe videos - they help me be more inspired in the kitchen. Thanks, Jenny.
Hey Jennny! I've been vegan for a few months and I absolutely adore your food philosophy/ way of eating. I'm really into cooking and experimenting with different recipes but I've got to say, I like your approach of simplifying weekly eating, just find something that tastes good, is good for your body and easy to make. I sometimes find myself a bit overwhelmed with choosing something to eat, but now that I think about it, I would gladly eat a good lentil curry for lunch every day:) Thanks for the video, lots of love from the Netherlands!
Thanks and Happy New Year 🥳 I don’t know if you like beanies but if so, may I direct you to Vegan Outfitters for their vegan (created especially for you) no wool beanie and its lovely vegan pom pom XOXO much love 💚🌱💐👏🙏🙌🥰
The only legumes I can currently tolerate are canned lentils, unfortunately, but baked chickpeas used to be my jam! Tossed in olive oil, salt & pepper, and baked until crispy. You can also use any spices you like to flavor them. So crunchy!
That’s so funny - I literally started eating congee last week because I watched an old video of yours where you gave us the recipe… And I love it! Thanks for sharing 😍 Have you tried massaging in some avocado (and, of course, soy sauce and rice vinegar) into your raw kale using your hands? I saw another content creator doing that, and I think it’s a complete game changer! The kale gets soft, super creamy, and delicious ✨
I started eating congee a few months back after watching your receipe video. I adored it. It became my obsession. But I stopped it I don't know why. Will return to the congee obsession again 😈
Love your food videos. Pls keep them coming. Have you tried a savoury oat bowl? 😋 I often switch with coucous for variety. Also, ❤❤ your photos; so inspiring. You could make a coffee table book on table setting and food presentation.
Oh how I actually crave for oven fried broccoli, fresh carrots and crunchy kale after the cheese, chocolate, jams, crackers and other yummy but quite heavy christmas treats 😍
I need a video where you show all your clothes and brands hahaha. Loveeee your style 😅 Also we need more food videos with the recipes hahaha ❤😂 Love you so much
Jenny, no one talks about food as delightfully as you do. Maybe it's that Taurus in you that makes even broccoli sound so delicious it actually makes me crave it. Thanks to you, I've been eating congee with lentils every day, and I have to say it's completely simplified my cooking routine. It's so tasty, and I'm still hitting my fitness goals. I honestly think that if you wrote a book about food, it would be a bestseller. And your taste in tableware? Simply unmatched. I absolutely love your food content the most.
I'm very jealous of people who can drink green tea on an empty stomach! I love it but if I haven't eaten it makes me feel nauseous. So always tea with a splash of oat milk for my 1st hot drink. Also - isn't cold porridge just overnight oats? 💚
I love your food video's, they stimulate me to eat more healthy as well haha! It also always feels like such a safe nice calm environment in this crazy world haha, I always feel motivated and calm when I watch your video's haha.
My sister has has stomach issues since she was a small child. She began a vegan diet in 1988 to help with her stomach issues. She also had to eschew peppers-something she loves. On the odd times she has strayed she says she payed for it. The old saying about we are what we eat does have some wisdom to it. 😊 I eat seafood, chicken and vegetables. I take lots of vitamins which my GP has recommended. Many of them are to help ward off migraines. Vitamins E, B12, D, Calcium, Magnesium, Omega, iron, biotin as well as a multivitamin. I think my better moods and higher energy levels might be due to the vitamins but that is anecdotal.
I love chickpeas but they don’t love me sadly, the gas and bloating is no fun. I am taking advantage of citrus season in enjoying sweet oranges with my lunch and it feels like eating sunshine to brighten my day 😊❤ your vids Jenny help inspire me to eat healthy and fall in love with all the fruits and veggies!!
Baked chickpeas with a vegan chicken seasoning hits the spot. I love them warm. Spicy garlic edamame is such an indulgence too. Green beans! ugh! So good with a mushroom seasoning. All of these are so perfect. I also love roasted broccoli or steamed with a basic salty seasoning. I will say I need to cut back a bit on salt
I drink a lot of green tea as well, mostly sencha or matcha, but I am scared about the amounts of caffeine affecting my iron. Like the small kyusu teapots in Japan are great, but I tend to make a pot like the one you have, at least 700 of first infusion LOL
I love your videos about food and this is how I found your channel 😊 Thank you for sharing your recipes and tips. They are so interesting. Wish you a wonderful 2025🎉
God fortsättning bästa Jenny och David!! I have always loved your food videos and even more when they are healthy and budget friendly :) I love the idea of being minimalist with nutrition, even though i love the showy, vibrant and elaborate vegan recipes to impress friends too :D Wishing you both health and happiness for 2025! From a brit married to a Swede in snowy Norrköping
does the tumeric pill make you smell tumericky? super interested in that but my friend who does home-made tumeric drink will avoid drinking it if they are going out cause it gives your body a strong smell.
Hi Jenny, can you please tell me where your linen shirts are from? Especially the beautiful blue one? I have searched everywhere but I can not find it🤗
Problem is some of what you eat I am allergic to and have gluten intolerance and nut allergies. I would like to see a cook book so I can make alterations to fit my food allergy issues. I have acid reflux and ulcer issues so I can understand that. Soy products are a big no as well.
I have the exact same problem. I coudnt figure out for the longest time what made me feel sick in the morning, but yea it's the green tea before breakfast. But that's due to a sensitivity. Not everyone has it. I also find that herbal teas like chamomile are OK on empty stomach since they lack the tannins and are not acidic. Are you also sensitive to caffeine? I am. 😑
Though not a breakfast-skipper personally, what you said reminded me of a line from Michael Cunningham's The Hours, about (his fictional) Virginia Woolf not eating breakfast before writing: "with her stomach empty she feels quick and clean, clearheaded, ready for a fight.: "
Oh my gosh, I would be so joyous if you started making recipe videos again. I loved your recipe.
I love the idea of a simple diet. That could be the key to tackling emotional eating
In Afghanistan we eat dried cooked chickpeas with green tea all the time !!
Yes I love the food focused videos that are all about simple things to make.
Love the food videos and the beautiful dishes, bowls, trays etc you serve them on
Yes! These are the reason I use my "nice" dishes way more, just because I feel like making it pretty

I used two raw tomatoes cut into bite size with bonito flakes or sesame seeds for midnight snacks.
Very nice :) I could not eat something sweet (and cold during winter) for lunch everyday. Fridge-cold is generally my nightmare :D
Same here :)
Same, I need a hot soup. Whenever I work from home I do hot soups lunch and diner.
your eating routines are very autism-friendly and i am here for it! i feel so seen wanting things to go by as automatically and cost ast little effort as possible, and STILL provide me a delicious meal/a nice experience every time :D
So relatable!
Same for ADHD + SAD 🌸
yesss this is my favorite type of video

The snacks are new, I often snack edamame beans and chickpeas while cooking, but I've never given them the "label" of snacks
love any eps you do about cooking, nutrition, eating
I like toasted chickpeas! Super easy to make and a very healthy snack! Yes to more food videos please :)
I did have a go at your cold porridge thing awhile back and it was pretty good! If ppl like overnight oats it’s not too different!

Thank you for such a gorgeous video. I wish you would give us a tour of your kitchen.
Very cosy and mindful video ❤!
green beans are an excellent finger food. I just lightly sprinkle with salt.

“Congee kale and oats” as a folk group made me laugh out loud 😝
Going to try make your watery oats and congee this week!
Did you post the recipe?
Is porridge made of oatmeal? I’m not familiar with it
Love this kind of video, it's my favourite
Hello Jenny. You've inspired me to have porridge with chopped apples this evening.:) (it's on the way)

Yes please to more foodie videos!

Do You use oil for sautéing? if so what kind?
does the tumeric pill make you smell tumericky? super interested in that but my friend who does home-made tumeric drink will avoid drinking it if they are going out cause it gives your body a strong smell.

I hate that I'm on a diet🥘
😂 good one, David! Better go and cook that beautiful congee for Jenny.
Am I a simpleton, or did anyone else just realize why they call those little lights "tea lights"? 🕯
Top Top Top

Bei Magen Problemen empfehle ich sich beim Arzt Check machen lassen, es konnte Gluten Unverträglichkeiten sein..dass hab ich😢
