I absolutely LOVE the "questions I ask myself..." that this girl comes up with. The more abstract ( "does this clothing item bully me?" ) the better. I want whole videos that are just her applying thoughtful questions to "areas of concern" with her pleasant voice and tone. "When I consider the economics of trade tariffs, I ask myself...".

Re: donating food and beauty products. You can only donate *unopened* food in its original packaging to food banks and *unopened* beauty products to shelters. As someone who’s volunteered to sort food at the food bank, so much is thrown out because it’s opened which means the food cannot be considered safe. However there are often local Buy Nothing Groups on facebook that you can offer food (or beauty products, home things, anything really) that you just don’t want and people can decide if they’re ok with taking open food or beauty products. So glad you spoke about giving things away or donating anything you don’t need as opposed to just throwing it out! 😊
I have no idea about Canada but in some places in the US there are thrift stores that DO accept opened health and beauty products (excluding medication of course). You just have to check around. As for opened food I would give it to friends and family who might want it, for example we don't really use a couple of spices but a friend with a larger family is glad to take it (unexpired of course).
Thanks for the video! Your content is so inspiring to me. I grew up in a cluttered household and rarely got rid of anything... Pure chaos, drawers won't close, stuff on the floor because it has nowhere else to go, etc. I am still learning how to let go but it's amazing to see how having less can make things easier. Watching you go through these already pretty tidy spaces and pare down is amazing; it never would have occurred to me just a few years ago to get rid of things that I had room for! Feeling motivated now to tackle my own space - it's definitely not in "declutter in 1 week" condition but progress is progress :)
Moved from the Chicago area to the Pacific Northwest 3 months ago. Didn’t think I had a lot to purge while preparing for the move, but got rid of so much! Now we’re in the new place, I’m continuing to declutter things that just don’t work. Sometimes, when you think you’re done, you’re really not! 😊 📦
📦📦📦 I started decluttering early last year and I have never felt so much relief at having less “stuff” in my life. I really enjoyed seeing your video and how you managed to tackle your apartment in one week.
I'm inspired by your declutter. I've been living in our 31' RV at the lake. The small space kept me from fantasy shopping and I'm kinda concerned that "stuff creep" will happen when I move into our cabin. It's been an airbnb and perfectly appointed with no clutter. I hope to keep it that way and celebrate the space! What I've learned about my husband of 45 years is he likes "his stuff" in "his own space" no comingling, so there are double use things in the kitchen and his pantry and our pantry. He cooks with "his spices etc." Yes, I find this odd; however, when I stopped trying to help him when he's cooking, he cooks more and cleans up behind himself so gotta love that. Cant believe it took me 40 years to obsserve how he operates.
I was married in my late 20s and I was totally in charge of the kitchen but when I married a second time in my 30s my husband is the main cook. He controls where everything is kept, lol. It was an adjustment for me but I like it now. Fortunately he is fine with me using "his stuff" when I do cook and bake, which is pretty frequent but not as much as he does.
I love the idea of maybes going into a test pile. I did a closet purge yesterday and have 3 sweaters set aside to wear this coming week and see if they're gonna stay or go.
@@Christinamychas I struggled with that a lot last year but I am finding that if I listen to my audiobook while I’m reading the kindle version I have been more inclined to reach for just my kindle
I swear, declutterring is one of my favorite activities. Just did the kitchen after probably ten years. Years ago I got rid of most of my books too (they take up so much space and I love ebooks). I put most of the books in neighborhood “libraries” for others to borrow. Also, you and I seem to like the same books 😊.
I love the questions you asked in the closet declutter, which I think can easily be applied to more than just clothes. On the items you’re unsure of needing a cooling off period - I totally get that but for me it’s out of sight, out of mind. I have to put it somewhere visible or I’ll never wear/use it.
While you generally can't donate opened food, I like to swap it with my friend group or bring it to work! Depends the culture you have in these spaces, but it has been well received in mine :)
📦 Scheduled my own home decluttering session for next week, so this video came out at just about the right time for me! Thanks for this wonderful extra kick of motivation! 🌟💪

I enjoyed your declutter. I’ve been planning to tackle my paper clutter for a while. If your friends and family don’t want your books you can also donate them to the library.
I've only just listened to my audio book - Jurassic Park. I don't know that I'd listen to more since I love physically reading, but it was a nice alternative to a podcast when I'm busy working. Great job on the declutter❤
I have the same mirror as you do in my hall (parents' home). Don't have a clue where it came from, probably isn't from the same manufacturer, but the design is literally the same. I like it in general, though my style is different

Loved the video. The only question I have is why do you consider enjoying books via audiobook a "bad habit"? Is it a fantasy self thing? Obv how you think about it is your business, but it might be worth interrogating.
I tried to help my mom declutter her fridge twice. Key word “tried”. I found things that were as old as me (or at least what I remembered from my childhood), and thats 4 decades ago… It causes her major anxiety when I try to declutter her house or fridge, so I dont. I am hoping I dont do the same things…
I definitely wouldn't say preferring/listening to audiobooks is a "bad habit". The only people talking down about audiobooks are people with weird elitist mindsets, self-hyping themselves for having more free time than most people.
Just curious about the availability of a full week since I believe you work full time: did you take vacation? I for instance have less than 3 weeks total per year so I would hesitate to take this much time off to clean.
I'm a total library person and never buy "new" books but I read so much that I ALWAYS have at least two dozen books to purge, picked up from book swaps and free little libraries. When Christina showed her book area I had to laugh because even as semi minimalists my household is overflowing with books.
Decluttering is my favourite thing to do ever, there's no better feeling that a fresh home x
I love the term "clutter boundaries" and the concept of decluttering by zone and curating your space. 📦 So well organized!
Def gotta define them like anything else - the declutter helped me see what they could be
