    Thanks. The cam is a 208/214 .520/.560 110* LSA from HughesEngines. I didn't really lose anymore low-end torque from the cam, its power range is from 1800 rpm - redline. Headers on a stock motor might cause a loss in low-end torque because of the change in back pressure/fairly low stock compression ratio(8.9:1). This happened to me when I got my long tubes. A K&N was the only other mod when my headers were installed. 2.5" piping is recommended on a 5.2 to retain back pressure, but 3" is louder.

    Thank you bro. Sorry it took a week to get back to you, I just got power back a few days ago after a 9 day blackout. I have about $40,000 in this beast. i'm leaving it N/A, about to install a Detroit TrueTrac LSD, shift kit for the trans, black suede headliner, then i'm done for good with putting money into it. 5.9 Jeeps are so beast, I was lucky enough to drive one and to find a hood and grille from one. I will be making more vids once the parts are in, stay tuned for extreme street Jeeping.

    Thanks a lot man. Stock gauges with white face overlays and Blue 194 LED Bulbs. Install was not very difficult but it takes some time to align it perfectly and then place the overlay down perfectly on the gauge without any air bubbles. Its pretty simple and easy and it definately looks more pleasing to the eyes.

    Thanks a lot bro, I really appreciate it. Its good to see other people that understand and appreciate these V8 ZJs, there is nothing else on or off road like the original Grand Cherokee. I got laid off 5 months ago after working at the spot for 11 months. Just started school again because of that bullshit, but its all good. I just got a 5.9 Hood the other day and will be posting the video of it before and after the black paint, so check for the first video today. Thanks again and stay tuned.

    Thanks a lot. I got the Jeep 100% stock in September 2007 with 80,000 miles. The first mods were K&N, Bigger Throttle Body, Headers, MSD Ignition. Later on in the end of 2009 the original 318 took a shit and I got a new 318 bored .040 over. When I got it back in January of 2010 I wanted to continue the build with a better Intake Manifold. That added a good amount of power. Then, I finished the build by replacing the rest of the top end of the motor with Heads and Cam, Roller Rockers, and a Tune.

      Hey man can you list the parts you got? Like the throttle body? Headers?

      Mods list is in the description of this video. This video is 5 years old so more parts have been added to the build since then but this is the majority of the parts.

    Your best bet for headers would be Doug Thorley headers which go for $700 or Edelbrock if you can still find them. Barely any companies make headers for V8 Magnums, which is why I went to Kooks to have a set of headers custom fabricated for my Jeep. This is the only ZJ in the world that I know of that has Kooks Headers. The only Jeep headers they advertise and produce on a large scale is for the WK1 6.1L Hemi SRT8 Jeep, which is more expensive but also more common to see on the road than a V8 ZJ

    The only issues as of right now is an occasional Check Engine Light for running too rich. This reading started showing up after the Heads/Cam install due to the Ford 24 lb/hr Injectors, which were installed before the top end build. I will keep the 24 lb Injectors over the stock ones because the Ford Injectors have a very nice and even 4 hole spray pattern, where the stock Mopar Injector only has 1 hole. After the build, I would much rather run a little too rich than too lean at all.

    The heads are not stock. They are RHS Indy X Iron Heads 2.02"/1.62".

    How much did this cost??? To build the motor and transmission??

  • @zxtenn
    @zxtenn 12 лет назад

    Agreed, headers, hi flow cat and 3 in ex. on a stock eng. sounds unnecessary and might even run slightly lean. KOLAK has a 'kit' which is the headers, 3 inch cat, muffler and tailpipe for about a grand, i now have a dynomax muffler. Thats a lot of lift you have there vs what some people run, duration not too bad, as long as it works for you thats the main thing, do you have stock heads? The purpose of my ZJ is winter use but a few eng. upgrades ok, I need to pass insp. You know a lot, TY

    I was reading about those heads, very expensive, hope they're worth it-- i was looking into the Bosch 4 hole injectors from a place called 50 motorsports, about 330.00-- i opened my hood about a month ago and saw a broken exh. manifold stud so i won't be installing headers soon, if i do at all, really don't want to chance having to pull a head due to broken bolt. Yes, the 4 hole injectors are supposed to increase throttle response
    Check your brake lines for rust, changed a few on mine recently

    What heads and cam did you use? I'm looking at the comp cams 210/220-110lsa cam

    • @98ZJ318
      @98ZJ318  6 лет назад +1

      Phillip Wallace RHS Indy X 2.02"/1.62" Iron Heads and Hughes Engines 208/214 110LSA Cam. The 210/220 is a good cam. Hughes Engines recommended the 208/214 cam for a lopey idle and noticeable power/torque gains with decent driveability.

    No,when the cut out is opened it makes more power and is still much louder than when it its closed. It was originally between a cat and a muffler but those are now both gone.

    Favorited this video! Wonderfully, tastefully done! What a MOPAR baby. I'm a 92 Dakota guy but I was wondering about your instrument cluster... Are they aftermarket gauges or stock? If aftermarket, what was the install like?

    Nice ZJ---I have a 96 5.2, what cam do you have? Sounds pretty radical, did you lose much low end torque, i suppose gas mileage is even worse now-- i am getting a set of Doug thorsley and 3 inch exhaust from kolak-- so do/did you have any issues with check engine lights, etc.
    40 grand,,,that's a lot of cash my friend

    Why have the cutouts?

    • @98ZJ318
      @98ZJ318  5 лет назад

      Anthony Clouse There is only 1 cutout. It is for the extra sound and performance of running open headers when it is opened while having the option to close it and make it a little quieter dumping out of the tailpipe. It's like a 2 mode exhaust, loud and louder.

    Thanks for the info, i found a place called buyfordracing and called several times today but nobody answered-- their injectors were the 6 hole for 180.00 and 24 lb. i was reading the stock injectors for 96 are also 24 lb, i'll try calling them again tomorrow-- do you have a part #? I guess i could call DG--
    I was noticing how nice your paint is, good reflection-- i just had my headliner done and going in for a new rug in about a week
