rebuilding the whole front end with all new bearings and seals, painful job but something that has to be done sometimes and it feels nicer to drive now.
Absolutely hanging for a shed skid haha! Always make it until the end, don't want to miss out on any of your no b.s tips and secretly still waiting for the day when there's the last minute merch plug 🤞
Haha it’s in the next one! Nothing too crazy though, still a skid haha! I’ve been thinking about merch but I’ll wait until the channel grows some more. Also thinking of a way to be different is hard. See what happens mate! Cheers
Cheers Dan. I dont mind your rambling, always learning something new about patrols (being a cruiserhead myself). I know them feels about itching to get back out on the tracks.. my builds been a bit longer comin than yours though. :)
made it to the end :) very interested with the suspension vid. i just updated my shocks to the OME remotes. love the adjustability. also rebushed front and rear links after 10 years, she was driving like a high speed forklift!
Always watch your content to the end mate. Always learn something new or a more efficient way of doing something. Keep it coming. Long or short it’s always good👍
Love the vids Daniel, always watch them to the end. In your next suspension vid, can you show which way you run the seal on the back of the brake hub. cheers
Thanks mate! Are you talking about the hub seals? On top of the back wheel bearing? If so, the seal has 2 sides, one has a single lip and one has a double lip. Put the seal in so you can see the double lip, double lip facing out. Cheers
Made it to the end lovin the shed vids mate it’s fantastic to learn different ways to do thing I love the weld the king pin races to shrink and have something to lever them out and the needle end for grease gun is so good and yea I’m one the idiots who has left the egg ring out and had the step ring slide back 😂😂😂
I always watch till the end! Love the shed work, got a lot of things to do on my truck. just need to do some room in my shed cause it is full of boats on winter time 😅 Sheers mate 🤙🤙
Hey Dan, sorry for the rehash of an old, old vid! Haha. Can I ask you two Qs about the gu front end - do the front centres have a collapsible pinion spacer that you replace with a solid when fitting your locker for the first time? - do you always run Genuine free wheeling hubs and do you purchase from Nissan when needed? Thanks Michael
All good mate, good to see people are still watching them! No collapsable spacer in patrol centres, so just normal shims are fine. Yes, genuine hubs. They are strong enough to survive a beating but a good weak spot and easy to change. I’ve just acquired a heap of second hand ones over the years, I wouldn’t buy brand new. Cheers
Good to see a no nonsense DIY mate . Straight to the point with a few handy hints chucked in . I’m about to do the same on my 03 GU TB48 so I really appreciate seeing it done . Any idea on on the tension figures with bracing the diff housing down before welding the tube bracing to prevent turning my diff into a banana and will I need to do similar for the pumpkin brace ? When are you guys heading up to QLD for a trip . Be good to see you guys at glasshouse
Thanks mate! Nah no idea to be honest haha. Just a little bit of tension in the opposite direction it will pull seemed to work sweet! I didn’t brace the housing when I welded the pumpkin plate on! Cheers
Another wicked vid man and made it all the way to the end as always! Got my diffs braced front and rear now just need to rebuild them. They have been sitting on the shed for way to long. haha ps. Are you gonna be at cliffhanger this year?
@@DanielKistler yeah that’s why I haven’t done it. Haha. Still waiting on my long arms to arrive and hyper flex 2.0s. Ps congrats on the wedding man. Hope you have a wicked day.
Hey man recently found your videos and can’t get enough of them, just a got a question, look to get myself a TD patrol but struggling to find anything for a decent price, got any tips on how to track one down and what to look for when buying? Cheers
Thanks for checking them out. Unfortunately the price of patrols has gone through the roof, I doubt it will come down, you really just have to keep and eye out and jump on the ones that look alright straight away! Look for any rust and the possibility of an engine swap!
Nice shed. Given my age, the amount of tools I’d need vs the time I have left and lack of technical knowledge, might be cheaper for me to pay for upgrades. Still enjoying ur vids tho
Hey mate just wondering when you painted the diff after bracing it up did you do any rust treatment on it or did you just spray over it all? Reason I ask is my diff is in a similar state and I’m doing a similar thing
Hey mate, not really haha, just a quick sand job and slap some paint on. After the first couple bush drives its back to bare metal anyway so I wouldn’t stress too much. Thanks for watching mate!
Got my 24v alternator (in the air con spot) going in my 75 series, any idea why it's pumping out 37 volt not hooked up to the battery's but when I wire it in it goes down to 24.5ish on the battery's? All for the winch haha
Couldn’t tell you exactly why, maybe the input of 24v into the alternator regulates the output it gives. I do know they hate being spun up without being connected to any load haha.
I’ve got an easier way of greasing you’re front wheel bearings, love you’re idea though. Probably a bit late telling you now that you’re hubs are all back together 😂 I’ll message ya on Insta 👍🏼
Yeah mate, watched it all. I always learn something new when your in the shed. Thanks mate. 🍺
