I love how down to earth and candid Meryl was by telling us her question of what to do next in life after achieving the gold medal. Indeed, when we reach an important goal we find that we are exactly the same person.

Starting lessons next month I am so excited. I've only been skating five or six times but I can glide, t stop, go backwards and spin. I am so excited to start learning even more. I cant wait to be able to skate to music I am SO excited. My whole life I have never really had a hobby I was into. I am so glad I discovered the beautiful world of figure skating.

Oh! So that's why Yuri trained in Detroit with Phichit! Everytime I come learn about how YOI relates to the real world, I get more amazed by the details they put into the show.
is 14 to old to start skating? I wouldn't want to do competitions, I'd just like to learn as much as I can and be able to skate to music

I started to watch a bunch of Ice skating videos and I started to learn how to ice skate at an ice skating rink and I'm do stretches to become as flexible as Yuri Plisetsky. And I'm doing all of that just because of Yuri on ice. I love that anime so much. It's one of my favorites.

If you are trying to skate competitively then it might be tight unless you work very hard on ice skating. If you work hard then you can definitely get good. If you are skating for fun any age is fine :)

IvanLovesPie nahh! Me and my friend and 16 and 15 and we are starting soon😂 I've been before but yuri on ice mostly inspired us too😂
Kayuune you can still skate competitively just don't expect to get into the olympics or something like that. There are adult competitions and stuff that are pretty major. Unless you want to only skate to get into the olympics which would be pretty crazy. You don't have to be among the best... skate for yourself! There are people that are 49 that skate competitively in competitions. I'm almost 16 and decided to take on skating so it's really never too late to try something new.

*sighs* 😩😫I wish I could participate in ice skating, but the civic center in my town is shut down. I'm worried when I do move to a near by skate rink, I'll be too old to start ice skating. I'm only kinda good at rollerblading.
don't worry about your age. :) its never too old to learn how to ice skate!! i am 16 and i am starting iceskating after christmas!! and the nearest rink is 1 hour and a half away :) your never too old for it! :)

When Davis said something about the best fall down, it somehow reminded me of Plushenko's fall in one of his performance that the commentator said that it is a best fall that made the performance even better or things like that lol

Rokka - Love Yuri on Ice, but I agree. But I don't think anyone has compared her to any character.
Kayuune , actually, they have compared Yuuri to yuzuru hanyu, Yurio to yulia and Viktor to plushneko. Many people even go as far as to comment on plushneko's Facebook, asking him to leave his wife and find a Japanese skater as a husband.
Rokka - Oh, I know about that. It's so disgusting.. I was talking about Meryl herself in the video. I didn't know about Plushneko though, I've never heard of him-- and that's so disturbing..

I also heard that the more you bend your knees the more balance you have. Is that true? I think it is but I don't know for sure.
ThatRandomPerson :I it's about lowering your center of gravity. a lot of core-intensive sports centered on your balance, like skateboarding or surfing, will have you bending your knees to keep you balanced. for beginners, at any time you feel like youre about to slip backwards, just bend forward and touch your knees.
