TRUTH HAS BEEN SPOKEN
The "Nillili Mambo" song and MV were inspired partially by Vietnamese music (also what you hear in the beginning, before the song starts), partially just a pirate aesthetic and partially by the anime One Piece (the boys are fans). It's all really just one big troll song that ended up being good, and we love it.

Amal I think they all are, definitely Zico and Kyung (they talked about it), and when they went to Japan (cant remember which era, I think Tell Them), they got stuck in an anime store because they were debating about buying OP figurines and a Chopper plushie.

Block B is one of the most unique kpop groups. I've always been drawn to them. They're not afraid to do their own thing and go totally crazy with their music and mvs. They're a really special group to me and I love them so much.

Block B is probably my favorite boy group. I love the last 2 songs they released "Yesterday" and "Shall We Dance". Top quality music every comeback.

I agree. I love their latest releases than their old stuffs. But HER and Be The Light were still my jam and Tell Them is a good motivational song too! And my most favorite song from them is Toy :) it is my #1 song of 2016. Just sharing :)

Nillili Mambo will always be one of my most memorable KPOP songs because it was their first release after their year hiatus when they debuted in 2011! They got into a very insanely stupid controversy that led to Zico shaving his head and the group members formally apologizing for their silly actions, which was completely uncalled for. When all the BBCs thought Block B would disband and everything would be over, they released Nillili Mambo and it was just such a great thing.

Ahh I understand what the girl was saying about getting rid of the violins and brass but that's actually my favourite part of the song! (Also when he mentioned 'the whole group' when he was complimenting the rap I was so happy cause all of Block B's rapline are incredible and some of the best in Korea, Zico being the top sort of outshines Kyung and P.O sometimes, but they're all so incredible!!) I'm glad some of them liked it tho!!

Nillili Mambo was so iconic when it came out because it was right after that huge scandal and all the fans spent 8 months pretty convinced that the group would break up and also have their individual personal and professional reputations forever. All that bombast to show that they were back and never changing their aggressive style.

To Kevin, in case you’re interested, instrumental versions of some of their songs are released officially (like, not fan edits) so, um, give them a listen? Nillili Mambo is available, as well as HER’s.
It’s really hard being a Block B fan cause you could feel the threat of disbandment lurking somewhere. Especially now, with Zico’s SNS black out. We’ll be seven years in this April 15, and we’ve only had one full album.
Anyway, I hope you react to more Block B, as well as the member’s solo stuff and sub-unit stuff.

nillili mambo is literally a masterpiece the vocal line is constantly changing, the little adlibs and sound effects, the rapping of course, the use of orchestra ugh that song literally FUCKS! i almost wish they didn't watch the video so they wouldn't get distracted from how gorgeous the song is

Nilili Mambo was the song that made me first think "I should listen to more stuff from this group", it's one of my favorite songs, I love the symphonic instrumentals. I don't really listen to hip hop music but I think Zico is super talented - before Block B he was an up-and-coming underground rapper so some people were surprised that he debuted as a member of an idol group.
A couple fun facts about the title "Nilili Mambo" 1) nilili 닐리리 is an onomatopoeic word that mimics the sound of a wind instrument, and 2) there is an old song from the 1950's with the same title.

Cait B It was kinda true that they sounded like Eminem in their songs before 2013 as due to their previous company, Star Ent, the CEO of that company wanted to create a group that will be the next "korean Eminem group" hence most of their songs like Nalina or Nilli Mambo sounded like that. Just so you know blockb are so zany and underrated. Zico, in the interview part is actually saying Zico Zico nii..., they watch a lot anime so it comes from Love Live! Show and one of the girls who says Nico Nico nii meme... the BlockB is so artistic. They’re influenced by eminem and Big Bang but Zico like Drake and Jay-Z too. The Nilili Mambo song was made in the golden years so Trap wasn’t on the Korean Music radar just yet.
