My worst problem with drawing is just getting down and actually drawing. It takes so much self-discipline and so much trial and error. Right now I feel like drawing, but at the same time I don't really want to take the time to actually sit down and draw for a while or however long it takes. Self-discipline is an area I struggle with too:) I think everyone does to an extent. I try to draw everyday and I set aside the time on my planner. I like to draw whilst watching a movie or tv show, so I can relax after work and draw at the same time:) I find that by setting aside a little time every day, its easier to keep up the habit.
I'm the kind of person who wants so badly to use her markers, but can't always think of something to draw. I always revert to drawing characters (human, pony, or my own species' I've created) but they often take so long to sketch that I don't get to the colouring before I need to stop for the day (I'm also severely disabled, and can't use my arm often these days.) That way you could go straight into the coloring and not worry about the line art? Windy Iris Art it was literally the least I could do (subscribe that is :P). I have been wanting to Pringle out colouring pages, but my fiance (aka the one who does the printing while I'm not well enough to do it myself) is worried my marker paper is too big for the tray. I'm sure I'll get there eventually, but it will take some work lol. I actually (yesterday) traced one of my colouring book pages onto my marker paper. I drew over it in my own style, and came up with something I'm pretty happy with. It's not something I'll ever call entirely my own (because parts are still traced) but I do love how it looks so far and I can't wait to colour it ^-^.

I personally draw little comics in my sketchbooks to fill pages; either of funny conversations / interactions between my characters or scenes from my current favourite novel. My favourite of your ideas is probably no.4 dividing up the page into boxes because I'm terrible for not filling entire pages (either drawing to low or high on the page) so I think trying out that method might help me to learn to use my space more wisely xD This is a really helpful video and the tips are quite unique from other videos I've watched on this topic, I'll probably end up giving all of these tips a go

I know exactly how that feels like and my tip for is to first draw in the corner of the paper, or on a smaller paper something like a draft, it's not supposed to look good, it's just so you can have a clearer idea of what you want to draw in your mind. You can also search things, backgrounds and variations of colors that looks a little bit like what's in your head, so you can have a reference besides your draft and what's in your mind. Also, something that's really important is to trust the process, I know very well how difficult that is, I myself still have trouble with it, but never give up in the middle of the process, even if the sketching looks terrible, it's totally okay, skechings are not supposed to look like a masterpiece, so DON'T overwhelm about it!! I hope that helped! Good luck with it! Practice always leads to improvement, so even if your drawings are the worst, what I believe it isn't true, if you keep practicing you can only get better! I believe in you!! :)
Sometimes when I don’t have any idea of what to draw or sketch I just think of my favorite songs and take my favorite lyric and imagine it as a person or object and draw it. It really helps🙂

When I have a blank sketchbook, if it's a medium sized one I'll write down stories and if I have a big sketchbook, I use it for character designs or weapons or thumbnails. I like the ballpoint sketch you're not pressured into using a fancy fineliner.
Those sound like great ways to fill sketchbooks - thumbnails are all important and a great way to practice. That's exactly what I like about using a ball point pen as well:)

These are great ideas. I'm between graphic novels, so I'm filling in a sketchbook just to explore whatever idea pops into my head. It's important to remember that drawing is supposed to be fun. It's easy to lose sight of that once someone starts paying you for your work.

Rinafs FZ I use a 20 pack of markers my mom bought for $1. And highlighters, colored pencils, things like that, that my dad brings home from work. but I like making art with it. it's a cool challenge

Rip out every page carefully. Cut all the ruff edge off. Put ever page into a doccument protector. Keep the blank pages and continue drawing on them and when you feel like the drawing is good you can add it wherever you want in your new "sketchbook"

This is excellent. I have not maintained a good drawing habit since 2009. I will be using these ideas, particularly the box sketch idea, as I love the mathematical constraints this imposes.

I've done many scribbled abstracts like you did. They're fun. I love to find critters, faces, or objects in the scribbles, bring those out, and then colour around those in the same two or three colours so they become a background... I've actually done a video or two about it. Awe, I love the little doodle critters you did. 😃 my favourite of your pages is a tie between the critters and the practice page. 😃
The box one I think I will use a lot, because I draw verrrry small, and whenever I draw a face there is a lot of space around it, and I don't know what to do with the extra space. So keep up the good work :D!

Loved the doodle you did with the curling lines. When I was little, my cousins and I would have these contests where one would draw 3 random lines on a page and the next "contestant" would create some sort of drawing that used those lines. One of my fave games as a kid. Nowadays, I never exactly draw, but i doodle a lot when I'm thinking things out. I'm not trying to learn to draw but I really enjoy your vids because I truly admire those that can.

I like to use notebooks because they're cheap. Sketchbooks are so intimidating. I spend a lot time wondering what to draw and trying not to mess up instead of just letting my creativity flow.
You’re sooo creative, I just came across this on home page and I completely agree with this, as at the end your just filling in space to end it so you can start another.
I really loved the one with the squares, it was so pretty. As a sketchbook page, I'll probably use that method. Thanks for the ideas. Also, I see you are not using the left pages because of the bleed through - i did see an idea recently where you can gesso the left page after the bleed through messes it up - so that you can put ideas there - or do sketches. that way you can use up all the pages. You could also put in things like reference pictures, typography you've found somewhere, lists of art block ideas... stuff like that... Photos.. etc etc etc... :) Unless of course your sketchbook is purely for your own drawings, in which case... carry on ;) Thanks!
I love the amazingly adorable shapes the most because you can just spend your time drawing shapes and then adding ADORABLE faces to them and it is very easy so you don't have to worry that you are doing it all wrong and have to start again

What should I do?
Have a sketchbook that is just for fun and experimenting and another that you can keep serious. That way you have the best of both worlds.

I've done many scribbled abstracts like you did. They're fun. I love to find critters, faces, or objects in the scribbles, bring those out, and then colour around those in the same two or three colours so they become a background... I've actually done a video or two about it.
Awe, I love the little doodle critters you did. 😃 my favourite of your pages is a tie between the critters and the practice page. 😃
The box one I think I will use a lot, because I draw verrrry small, and whenever I draw a face there is a lot of space around it, and I don't know what to do with the extra space. So keep up the good work :D!

Loved the doodle you did with the curling lines. When I was little, my cousins and I would have these contests where one would draw 3 random lines on a page and the next "contestant" would create some sort of drawing that used those lines. One of my fave games as a kid. Nowadays, I never exactly draw, but i doodle a lot when I'm thinking things out.
I'm not trying to learn to draw but I really enjoy your vids because I truly admire those that can.
the smaller the pages, the better. it makes the page feel less vast and you feel like you’re more in control.

I use a notebook as a sketch book and it has lines but it’s a very light gold so I can’t barley see it.. :)
Me too girl, but mine has green lines, so kinda hard to ignore.
I like to use notebooks because they're cheap. Sketchbooks are so intimidating. I spend a lot time wondering what to draw and trying not to mess up instead of just letting my creativity flow.
You are so good at drawing I love your videos so much and I might just do that and I liked the last one u did the hair styles

Also, I see you are not using the left pages because of the bleed through - i did see an idea recently where you can gesso the left page after the bleed through messes it up - so that you can put ideas there - or do sketches. that way you can use up all the pages. You could also put in things like reference pictures, typography you've found somewhere, lists of art block ideas... stuff like that... Photos.. etc etc etc... :) Unless of course your sketchbook is purely for your own drawings, in which case... carry on ;)

I love the amazingly adorable shapes the most because you can just spend your time drawing shapes and then adding ADORABLE faces to them and it is very easy so you don't have to worry that you are doing it all wrong and have to start again
