  • I know Dashcam is pretty low tech when we are talking about sentry mode and instant notification provided by Tesla. However, I believe this is still helpful to a lot of car owners who don't drive a Tesla and want to install hardwired Dashcam. I have installed the #papago 30G and #thinkware X550 dashcam on my Honda #Ridgeline for more than 3 years, I shot the videos back then but I haven't had time to make it. Yes, it's 2021, I still want to help the Honda community as well as other DIY people who don't drive a Telsa.
Hope this helps, similar to other videos I had before. You don't need to hire the professional to install it for you if you are able to DIY, why not? My goal is inspire more people into DIY and home improvement projects. Give this a thumbs up if you find some good information in the video. Awesome. I never understood why the OEM doesn’t just include the option for built-in using the system camera’s. Tesla seems to be the only one that has that option.
I’m a big fan of thinkware and have it in all of my vehicles. It saved us once with an insurance scammer that reversed (at a red light) into my wife’s car and tried to blame her for rear ending him. Needless to say, the police weren’t impressed when we showed them the footage after his claim. The reaction was truly priceless.

Back in the old days, every car didn't come with alarm system, everyone had to pay the professionals shops to install it. Of course, remote engine starter too. Now, when you buy a new car, many manufactures throw that into the package. I totally agree, dashcam should be one of the top items build-in for the cars, I think more and more car manufactures are doing it like Tesla. Thinkware is really awesome I have to agree, it's extremely reliable compare to many of those cheap Made in China dashcam.

Excellent video! Very thorough explanation. I have a Nextbase 322 dash cam, thinking of hardwiring it to the "always on" fuse in my 2016 CRV. There are only 2 wires on the cable - a "black" wire for ground and a "red" wire for connection to the fuse. Would you suggest to connecting the red wire to the "power seat" fuse to stay "always on" for the "Parking mode" purpose? TIA

Wait.. if you only have 2 wires on your dashcam... that means your dashcam may not support "parking mode". If you connect it to always on fuse, it will drain your battery in no time. Check with your dashcam manufacture see if it supports parking mode. Otherwise, you need that dashcam power management gadget I showed in the video.

Hello, wheee did you purchased your kit? I just installed mine but for some reason the kit that i bought from amazon does not plug in all the way in the fuse box due to its bulkiness

Which kit are you referring to? If you are referring to the Thinkware hardwire kit, yes, I got mine from Amazon. However, the hardwire kit didn't come with the fuse tap. You need to buy 2 x "fuse tap" from your local automotive store as I showed you in the video. If you are in Canada, you can get from Canadian Tire or Princess Auto.
