I call every douche bag at the beach taking Instagram selfies a kook as well. But never someone trying to learn. There's a dude I see regularly out on a softie at my local spot that started surfing a few months ago. I give him s hoot everytime he gets a good ride.

I like the little things in this video, like how in the beginning he was carrying the board the wrong way and getting wax all over him, and at the end of the video he’s holding it the right way
That's how I started. Bought me 1st board, went to the tourist breaks, watch the big kids too and spent the next 7 hours trying to stand, which happensed in the last 30 minutes of my day. When mom got there to pick me up I had rode maybe 2 or 3 slush faced waves 2 footers. Best summer ever!
Woah I just started learning how to surf two weeks ago and this video is 100% accurate to that horrible learning curve beginners face. Learned to eat waves, found Kanoa, now I want my own board :)
Yup I just started learning this sums it up. It totally sucks at first. Today I caught my first real good wave......all the way to shore. Took me long enough.
I’ll never forget the first wave I ever rode. It was a left hander surfing my backhand, it was in the evening and the sun was glistening on all the perfect curves of the wave as it was peeling.
My familie lives in our beautiful country of South Africa but we stay at leats 900km(560mi) from the neatest coast , i got my self a vintage town and country 4 fine baord at n pawn shop when inwas 8 and learned myself surfing in our swimming pool , i waited 10 years for the opportunity to surf for the fist time .We when to whats the pro's surf at jeffreys bay in 2019 june - july season , got myself a 9 ft log and just around the corner of kitchens corner down at the main beach on my second attempt i stood up with that wide stands for at least 10 seconds ... seeing this video it takes me back , wat an experience to surf no other sport that gives you this type of freedom that i know of yet
I remember my truest time. I learned on the hard way. On a short board (it was a hand me down). I took about 4 months of going to the beach everyday day. In loved since.
As someone learning atm I have just past the apologetic retrieval of the wetsuit from bin (metaphorically speaking) went back out only to suck for 1 hour and then eventually I stood up and surfed one wave. Once I had done that I popped up and surfed multiple waves over the next 2 hours having an absolute ball. Just keep practising 👍I'm almost 42.
As 'training', when I was 9, my surfing instructor took us 1 by 1 out when it was rough, made us paddle out, and lifted us over 10 ft waves and then dropped us. It seems quite nasty but it actually really prepares you for the shocks you get when you wipe out unexpectedly. It seemed horrible of him at the time though.
I've been bodyboarding since I was 4 years old and my brother and I would try to pop up on the board so i never really had the struggle of learning the pop up i started surfing 4 years ago (im 14 now) and i really like it i go surfing almost every vacation because my parents like it too
I've been wanting to surf since 2013 and I live two hours away from Jax. I tried it and I really enjoyed it but danggg I did not realize how out of shape I was. I still want to do it but I'm going to college in West Virginia this fall and I'm really struggling with that fact that I won't be near a beach.
Today was my first day. Had a hard time being stable. The 12 mph wind and about 3 foot wave or 4. I got out there im not giving up until i ride my 1st wave.

Hahaha this is great. I just started surfing like a month ago and the struggle is real, but it's so fun! I'm having lots of laughs at myself out there on the water and the best of times!
Learned to eat waves, found Kanoa, now I want my own board :)
that feeling when you pop up for the first time on your own, and ride the wave until the end, nothing compares
I have a big fear of the ocean but slowly learning how to surf is helping me get over that fear
Surfing is totally on my bucket list. I hope to live somewhere I can surf in the future
Well done. This was me six years ago. Same spots in HB, and the same Wavestorm. Six years later i'm mediocre, but it's still just as fun.
Love the volvo
Yup I just started learning this sums it up. It totally sucks at first. Today I caught my first real good wave......all the way to shore. Took me long enough.
I’ll never forget the first wave I ever rode. It was a left hander surfing my backhand, it was in the evening and the sun was glistening on all the perfect curves of the wave as it was peeling.
The first half of this video was literally me, starting with googling “how to surf” 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Awesome brother! Love it!
First time being able to pump down the line was the best
Sharing the feeling of surfing makes this world a better place
I remember my truest time. I learned on the hard way. On a short board (it was a hand me down). I took about 4 months of going to the beach everyday day. In loved since.
probably the most realistic surfing video i have ever seen
Ugh, I can’t wait for the Oregon coast to stop storming 🏄♀️🏄♀️🏄♀️
I got thallasophobia so Im just like, yall have fun! Imma stay here on good ol' Mama Terra
i have tooo but i wanna surf
Bought a foamie off the used market. I was finally able to stand and ride in my first wave in today! I'm officially a surfer :)
Humbling 🤙🏽
As someone learning atm I have just past the apologetic retrieval of the wetsuit from bin (metaphorically speaking) went back out only to suck for 1 hour and then eventually I stood up and surfed one wave. Once I had done that I popped up and surfed multiple waves over the next 2 hours having an absolute ball. Just keep practising 👍I'm almost 42.
I felt like I was in a video game, this was amazing!
🎮🏄♂️
OMG this made my day. So creative.
More videos pleasssseee 💕
Wow, this is incredibly original
That is funny ... I have gone through every single stage!! So true....
We stick with it and surfing becomes an addiction worth having...
Cool vid, it's easy to forget what it's like to be a beginner. For the record, I suck at surfing
Watching this in the middle of a New Hampshire winter... damn I think I'm in the wrong habitat
I love how he just sees Kanoa and is like ready to give his all 😂
The struggle is real.
I just got my first board that is a bit to short for me. Right now, I’m just trying to get up
This was awesome!
I've been bodyboarding since I was 4 years old and my brother and I would try to pop up on the board so i never really had the struggle of learning the pop up i started surfing 4 years ago (im 14 now) and i really like it i go surfing almost every vacation because my parents like it too
Nothing compares to the feeling of that first drop
thank you red bull
Wave storm for the win
I like how the day that he drinks the red Bull he learns to surf
12 year old comp surfer 3 boards 5'9 tri-quad 5'6 ultra high performance shortboard and a 7'6 twin funboard
So I’m a 12 yo kid who is going surfing this weekend never surfed before what is one thing I need to expect
I want her to teach me, she's so straightforward and is so friendly even tho she's cracking up at how bad he is
Best feeling
So u wake up at 4:45 and your in the water by what looks to be 9:30 or 10? How long is your drive to the beach?
I've been wanting to surf since 2013 and I live two hours away from Jax. I tried it and I really enjoyed it but danggg I did not realize how out of shape I was. I still want to do it but I'm going to college in West Virginia this fall and I'm really struggling with that fact that I won't be near a beach.
Don't give up! We'll see you on the waves! 🌊
Love the editing!
Today was my first day. Had a hard time being stable. The 12 mph wind and about 3 foot wave or 4. I got out there im not giving up until i ride my 1st wave.
thats what i am doing this summer!!! great video
If a girl like Lizzie taught me to surf back in the day I would’ve learned a lot faster lmao
Love these kind of video’s
