    Tips: I found removing the strut brace to be very easy, which provided significantly more access to the rear three spark plugs. Using a wobble spark plug socket enables direct access without issue, with the strut brace removed. The nuts for the strut brace should be tightened to 16 ft-lbs, same as the spark plugs.
    I also found that all of the engine coils, except for the rear, passenger side one, were removable without disconnecting the electrical connector. So, if you are struggling to disconnect the electrical from the engine coil, you can withdraw the coil without disconnecting.

    I appreciated the details shown in your video. The unplugging of the coils from the harness and the torque specs were the type of detail one should include in a video of this type. In another video, the guy showed the basics of checking the gap, but not the disconnecting of the cable going to the coil. He also failed to list the torque specs in the video. You made a great video!

      That's awesome! I was actually pushing really hard to get this out there before the weekend. Because I didn't really set a video on those yet so I figured I better get it done asap.
      Really happy that it worked out for you that way 👍

    Great video! Try using a piece of rubber vacumn hose on the spark plug to lower it into the hole. You can usually turn the plug also to seat it with the rubber tube. Sometimes easier than extensions. Less chance of cross threading too.

    Thanks so much for you video...will save me labor costs next time I need to replace my spark plugs in my 09 TL. TL owners know about the over consumption of oil problem and my spark plugs are getting sprayed with oil and shorting out sooner than I would like. Just got my bill from the mechanic to replace them...next time I will do it myself. Kicking myself for not watching this video sooner!

    Nicely done, thank you. Kind of funny it takes as long to explain how to remove the plastic engine cover as it does to actually remove the plugs. I can remove mine pretty quickly, I'm missing at least half the fasteners. . . 🤔

      If I remember correctly, there was a couple missing on this one as well.

    I Absolutely LOVE your videos. Your accents is soothing to hear and your voice is as well I also like how thorough you are giving every step. Most guys leave out the backside of the engine in the video when doing spark plugs. You included it. Thank you for that.

    Hey awesome video and super helpful! I did google the spark plugs and the ones in description links a 0.044 gap. Was wondering if the 0.44 would be fine even tho it is saying 0.039 - 0.043?

    Oil all over the socket and plugs when removing. I do 10k oil interval changes with full synthetic and baldwin filters. Never low on the dipstick, car has 175k on the clock now.

    Thanks your video, but i have a question, is there any difference between after and before replacing about fuel consumption? just wondering

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  3 года назад

      Good question. Yes there should be a difference, you should get better mileage. Because the new spark plugs should give you a better on time spark and thus make the engine perform better. But that is only if your old ones are actually worn or not functioning the way they should. I've never really put it to the test myself though.

    Hi thank you for the video. You were very thorough.
    One question what type of grease was that u used ? I heard DYLECT GREASE? Anyways looks important so I don’t wasn’t to just leave it out bc I DNT know what ur using. Thanks again

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  3 года назад +1

      You heard right. Dielectric grease is what I put in there. I have that linked in the description, but for your convenience I'll just link it right here. amzn.to/3tW2By4
      Thanks for your flattering comment by the way 👍

    Thanks for the video. Super helpful! How can you tell if the coils need to replaced? Or should you automatically change the coil boots each time you replace the spark plugs?

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  3 года назад +1

      Your welcome and thank you for your nice comment. 👍
      It sure wouldn't hurt to replace the boots everytime you change the spark plug. But if the boots aren't damaged, it's not necessary either I would say. But I also talk about that in the video at 5:30.

      Not sure about that. I would just delete it and see if it comes back.

    Hey I followed your steps but I had someone working with me but they confused the coil pattern and put the coils wherever he wanted so it feels 10x worse than it did before the spark plugs were plugged in

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  2 года назад

      Oh that's too bad. It shouldn't make that much of a difference, I would think. Are you sure the spark plugs are all torqued and the coils are all plugged in?

  • @stevep869

    How often do you change the spark plugs?

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  3 года назад +1

      Here is a link to a pdf that tells you pretty much all you need to. You basically go by the maintenance indicator code. If there is a 4 with, you change. But check out this pdf that I found on Google. It gives you an estimate for how long and how much you can drive before you should replace the plugs

    Acura tells me not to lube the boot, and to lube the thread of the spark plug very lightly. WHat are your thoughts? I will be using genuine honda/acura Spark plugs

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  3 года назад

      Who do you mean when you say Acura tells me?
      The main purpose of the dielectric grease is not to lube it. It is to keep the moisture out.
      I definitely would not put dielectric grease on the threads. Maybe antiseize if they say it must. Probably for easier removal when you have to change them next time. NGK puts some kind of coating on the threads already. And it says right on there not to apply any antiseize to the threads.

      Probably the engine#. My 2001 cl had 2 different listings. Parts dept at the dealership didnt have any info, so I just pulled one out, ordered and replaced with that part #.

      Compared to them for sure. The 3.5 and 2.7 V6's anyways. I had a 2005 Chrysler 300C with a 5.7L V8. They're not bad. Except you have to change 16 plugs. They have 2 per cylinder.
      Happy wrenching 👍
