Can you please explain the difference when using hydro charge and hydro slick? I understand that the hydro slick is more like a wax and should probably go on after the hydro charge, but the hydro slick says it's good for a year. How long should the hydro charge last? Would using these two be a good once a year maintenance regimen?
Awesome but Ive got some questions 1. How often should you apply 2. Can it be used for maintenance/rejuvenat existing coatingespecially other brand of coating 3. Does it harden like other coating where after you use a towel yo buff off you cant use it again 4. Is it only painted surfaces or plastic and rubber as well.
Thank you for reaching out! HydroCharge can last up to one year on clean and clayed surfaces. The precise duration of your application will depend on a number of factors, including: the climate where you live, how often you drive your car, how well you applied it, where you store it, and more. HydroCharge will revitalize your existing ceramic coating, increasing the shine, water beading, and protective properties. It will help your existing coating last longer, look its best, and protect the strongest. Due to its spray application, HydroCharge is an excellent way to maintain your existing ceramic coating, helping extending the periods between application. Yes, HydroCharge does harden, as long as you wash your towel or applicator immediately after application, you do not have to throw them away. If you do wait, the product on the towel will permanently harden, and you will have to throw it away. We recommend that you use a traditional creme based product such as a sealant or wax to seal and protect your glass. Hope we answered all your questions! CG, it would be helpful to make customers aware that cleaning out the sprayer head is important. I only wiped off the nozzle, but it still became clogged. Hot water and chipping it off eventually salvaged the spray head.
I put the hydrocharge on my car and hardly used anything out of the bottle. I would bet there’s enough to coat 15 cars in the bottle. It’s just how they say easy on, easy to buff off. The only thing is have 3-4 microfiber towels. They get loaded with the ceramic coating and start streaking. Good stuff I would recommend to any DIY person looking to put a coating on their car. I use SiO2 infused products from another company to keep the fresh just coated shine.

So I did hydrocharge on my hood only, but forgot to polish first, so I still have unwanted swirls. Will clean slate or wipe out take hydrocharge off so I can start over. If not, how do I get it off. Thanks!
Hey Kevin! We recommend polishing Hydrocharge off. Clean Slate will not strip it off. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!
@@ChemicalGuys I cleaned with Clean Slate and it was not beading as much as before. I then polished with VSS then did hydrocharge and it worked okay. I feel like the polish did not do as well as usual, but maybe it was because it was doing more stripping of hydrocharge then it was filling scratches and swirls. Thanks so much!
Before, make sure you have no oil, waxes, glazes before applying, that why it is recommended to use clean slate and wipe out spray to completing clean and prep the surface.
Does HydroCharge go bad in the bottle? How long can I keep it and still be effective? One bottle will last me years, just want to make sure it is still good.
Great Question! HydroCharge would land on the protective coating category right before glaze because you want the coating to bond to the paint and not to the oils left behind from the glaze which would cause an improper bond! Make sure to prep the surface just as you would like any other coating such as Carbon Flex C9. HydroCharge Ceramic Spray Sealant is an ambient air cured coating. No special lighting or infrared light is required. The unique sprayable formulation starts to cure the moment it is sprayed out of the bottle and exposed to air. Once applied to the surface, the product will bond within 1-2 minutes. Always remove and buff to a perfect shine with a premium microfiber towel. After applying HydroCharge Ceramic Coating, it is ideal to keep it out of the elements in a dry and clean environment for 2-3 hours. Depending on the climate, the hydrophobic effects will continue to improve even more after 24 hours of being applied. Then you can feel free to apply any further coatings such as glazes, sealants or wax. Refer to HydroCharge FAQ'S for any further questions. can this be applied outside? in the sun? (direct or indirect) or only indoors in a controlled environment like traditional coatings? also how many vehicles do you think a bottle will be able to do? thanks
Great question! Yes, HydroCharge can be applied outdoors, we recommend that you stay away from direct sunlight and work on a cool surface, also work in a shaded or covered area such as under a tent. Preferably you should work in a controlled environment to prevent contaminants with interfering with the results of your application of coating. The usage of the product varies upon use of the product, remember you do not need to over saturate the area, a little bit goes a very long way. Happy detailing!
After Hydro Charge cures, how long do you recommend to wait before applying a sealant such as Jet Seal? Will Hydro Charge continue to harden over a number of hours? Thanks!
@@brents.2501 Exactly what I ended up doing.. if you read the Hydro Charge specs, it becomes chemically stable (stops hardening, polymerizing, etc etc) after 24 hours.. so I went glaze/Jet Seal/Pete's 53 after that.. interesting to hear what CC says, but I don't think I'd do anything differently
And this is why you sand before and after you put in a clear coat. Don’t get me wrong this stuff works but there’s a reason there’s factory paint and custom paint. The time and effort goes a long way. Yes these products make it shiny and protect, but even the picture he used to show what it does showed the clear coat as jagged.

Ok a few weeks ago I washed my newer car with Citrus, then clay bar, EZ Cream Glazed, and topped with Butter Wet Wax. Can I now use this product? Or what is the procedure I need to do?
So many products so much confusion. What can be used and when? Inhave this hydro charge and many other products from you guys. Butter wet wax. Wet mirro finish. Do i use hydro charge for making my car shine or wet wax or all one afyer another??
Both are amazing products and can be used together. How is this different than HydroCharge? HydroCharge is a Ceramic Spray Coating. HydroSlick is the first-ever HyperWax. Yes, that’s right: HyperWax! We listened to customers across the globe and in the interest of constantly innovating the industry and the category, we wanted to develop something truly unique and exceptional. The idea was to make a product that delivers a superior shine, applies like a wax, and delivers the longevity and protection of a ceramic. HydroSlick is a true ceramic coating just like HydroCharge, but this formulation is offered in a suspension gel for the first time ever, making it as easy to apply as a wax.
I just got tree sap from a pine tree on my 2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk... what’s the best CHEMICAL GUYS way to get this off the paint, windows and trim. I need to do this ASAP before it starts to mess up the paint.
Hello Bentley! There are many products that work out great to remove tree sap such as Bug and Tar Remover, Clay Bar and even Butter Wet Wax! Make sure to check out our video on what you can use to remove heavily stuck on tree sap, bird droppings, tar and ash from painted and glass surfaces! Also make sure to check out our previous video on how to prep your vehicle before you apply a ceramic coating! Chemical Guys I used nail polish remover and the sap came off instantly vs big remover and others. Did a good wash first, nail polish for sap then wax the whole Jeep. Looks like new now.
What's the time gap when you need to wash or don't leave sitting for how long?? I might use it in the morning then not get a chance to wash my towels till evening..
Yes! HydroCharge is a hardening ceramic coating that penetrates deeply into the pores of the paint when properly prepped and will hold up to even the harshest elements. Assuming that you're using a pH neutral shampoo that isn't going to break down the coating in the long run then it would hold up for the full 12 months of protection. Also make sure to check out HydroSuds Ceramic Car Wash Soap to maintain your coating of HydroCharge. www.chemicalguys.com/hydrosuds-ceramic-car-wash-soap/CWS21216.html
Hey there! Yes, it is best to wait as HydroCharge will continue to improve hydrophobic effects even more after 24 hours after application. Then it can be layered with your favorite glaze, sealant and/or wax.
So my other question is because I been saying spray on ceramic sprays; because it’s a new thing on the detail market, would this new product on the market be different than a real Ceramic Coating or is it just a temporary thing?
Hello Joe! Sprayable ceramic coatings such as HydroCharge is a newer and easier form of applying a ceramic coating to your paint. But traditional coatings such as Chemical Guys Carbon Flex C9 coating will be superior in durability and shine because its a lot thicker and harder of a product due to it's more concentrated form. They are both great products but differ in application and results. Make sure to stay tuned on future videos we have coming your way which follow this line of coating!

Great question! Yes, you can use HydroCharge as a stand alone product or you can use it as a topper of an existing ceramic coating, increasing the shine, water beading, and protective properties. Ideally, you would want to strip the surface from any type of grime, contamination and polishing oils from the prepping process and then use HydroCharge before anything else to achieve the best results possible. Happy detailing!
Hello Kenny, great question! We recommend that you keep it away from any type of plastic trims and rubbers and to stick with a traditional dressing to condition and protect those finishes.
I was planning to do a full detail, wash, clay, polish, ultimate glaze, jet seal, extreme top coat, butter wet wax, where would I use this product in the process?
after the 1st use of hydrocharge...can i use it as a 2nd time as a 2nd layer a couple of days or any other random days for the extra shine...?2nd what difference is there between hydrocharge ceramic spray and carnauba based wax be they wax paste or spray wax...?which of them offers better shine and protection...?

HydroCharge would land on the protective coating category right before glaze because you want the coating to bond to the paint and not to the oils left behind from the glaze which would cause an improper bond! Here’s my question. After I clay bar my truck and get the paint all smooth. I’ll be skipping a polisher since I don’t have one. I’d like to use this and ButterWetWax, which would I apply first?
on the instructions it states to keep the car out of the elements for 2 hours after application is done. i dont have a garage available. is leaving in the driveway acceptable?
We recommend that you properly apply HydroCharge to the paint with an applicator pad, letting it haze for up to 2 minutes and buff it right off with a microfiber towel. Make sure to refer to the HydroCharge FAQ to learn more about what HydroCharge is and how to use it. www.chemicalguys.com/blogarticle?cid=article-hydrocharge-faq
If I want to put two layers of Hydro Charge on my car, do I have to let the first layer dry/flash off? And if yes, how long should I wait before I put the second layer on? Thank you in advance.
Is it more forgiving than a more classic ceramic coat? For example, if you finish that hood, would you some sort of demarcation? Can it be removed with a product such as Clean slate?
Hello Jean! A traditional ceramic coating such as Chemical Guys Carbon Flex C9 is a lot thicker and harder of a product vs HydroCharge, therefore it would be a lot harder to remove with clean slate. Assuming that you want to strip the surface while it is fresh and hasn't fully cured then yes it can be removed. If not, then yes it can still be removed with further removal such as Wipe Out surface cleanser spray. HydroCharge is a thick ceramic coating and penetrates deep like a traditional ceramic coating as well and shouldn't be confused for as something light such as a spray wax or sealant. Make sure to stay tuned for future videos on this product. Happy Detailing!

Does HydroCharge go bad in the bottle? How long can I keep it and still be effective? One bottle will last me years, just want to make sure it is still good.
Can I apply this over a layer of glaze, wax, and sealant? Or should I use Clean Slate to use this product?
You should prep the paint and remove any existing products, etc. This spray bonds to the paint and as such, should be sprayed onto raw paint.
Thanks!
Nicklaus Biederwolf, I applied jet seal 24 hours after and it really helped the car to feel slick. Hydrocharge will not give you that slick feel.
Can it be used all over car plastics rubber ? Or only paint
Hey Johnny! HydroCharge is designed for painted surfaces.
Cool stuff does this actually have ceramic in it. Or is it silicone based?
Hello! HydroCharge is an actual sprayable ceramic coating that hardens onto your paint like a traditional ceramic coating. Make sure to check out HydroCharge FAQ for any further questions you may have.

is it necessary to tape plastic and / or rubber as soon as you apply?
Hey! Avoid applying HydroCharge to vinyl, rubber, and plastic trim as it may stain. Taping off these sensitive surfaces is a good idea.

I'm new to the ceramic technology. Can you clarify where this fits in the flowchart? Would there still be a need for the glaze, sealant, and wax?

how often should you use this product? i know it depends on the usage, environment etc. but can you give a rough estimate? Thanks
Hi Keith! Maintain durability and gloss by reapplying every 6 to 10 months.
Do I need to throw away the applicator pad and towel after? Or can I reuse them?
HydroCharge will begin to harden on the towel and applicator unless it is washed immediately.
how long does this coating last and will applying sealant and wax on top degrade the coating afterward?
Can I use HydroCharge on Paint Protection Film? Will it bond to the surface of PPF?
Hi there! HydroCharge is designed for gloss paint. Apply JetSeal to your PPF for protection and gloss.
Those three spray you put on the applicator pad, were enough to cover the entire right side of the hood? Or did you require more product?
Hi there! That's correct, HydroCharge spreads very fine so just a few sprays can cover a large surface area. - Happy detailing!

Hey! Use JetSeal to add longevity to your PPF.
Hey quick question, so is it okay if I use butter wet wax, then jet seal and then use this like on top of the sealant ? Thanks !!
Great Question! We recommend stripping the surface of the paint from any previous and or residual wax or sealant from the paint for HydroCharge to have the best bond possible to the paint. HydroCharge Ceramic Spray can also be layered. We have found in testing that 2 coats are more than enough for any surface we have tested. Do we need to throw away towels after using this products and what is the hardness level?
Yes or use said towels for dirty engine bays. The towel should not ever touch paint again once it has been used to apply a ceramic spray coating.
If you wash the towels and applicator after you finish applying you do not have to throw them away. If you allow them to sit, then yes.

So many products so much confusion. What can be used and when? Inhave this hydro charge and many other products from you guys. Butter wet wax. Wet mirro finish. Do i use hydro charge for making my car shine or wet wax or all one afyer another??
What's the difference between this and hydry slick? Can both be used?

Would it hold up to pressure Washer force though. The foam cannkn along with the pressure washer usually degrades coatings faster than usual
When is it going to be back in stock?
Can u apply that ceramic spray over glaze, sealant or wax?

@@ChemicalGuys awesome! Thank u!

Can we use HydroCharge as a stand alone? And, can we put it on top of a sealant?
it says in the description
Great question! Yes, you can use HydroCharge as a stand alone product or you can use it as a topper of an existing ceramic coating, increasing the shine, water beading, and protective properties. Ideally, you would want to strip the surface from any type of grime, contamination and polishing oils from the prepping process and then use HydroCharge before anything else to achieve the best results possible. Do we need to worry about plastic trims or rubber?
Hello Kenny, great question! We recommend that you keep it away from any type of plastic trims and rubbers and to stick with a traditional dressing to condition and protect those finishes.
According to the help line it is not meant for glass or exterior plastics.
