@@diamond_queen111You’re thanking him for partaking in the illegal invasion of Iraq? The war that lead to the deaths of at least one million Iraqi civilians at the hands of the USA?
Short story behind the song... Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this song about his father, who died of cancer on September 1, 1982 when Billie was just 10 years old. At his father's funeral, Billie cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and knocked on the door to Billie's room, Billie simply said, "Wake me up when September ends," hence the title. Pretty darn sad but awesome of BJA at the same time. If that's true... Is pretty cool.
I had cancer at 12 years old in 2006. Spend my birthday in the hospital at the end of August 2006. The doctors told me & my parents that I would be able to leave the hospital at the end of September if everything was okay. I already was a fan of Green Day at the time. This song became special to me. I'm 30 right now & completely healed. Reading all the comments from so many people who have a special story with this song shows how important & unique it is. Thanks Green Day.
Jesus is coming back this year!!! Believe in Him!!! There is no excuse for those who are accountable. Believe Him. Put your faith and trust in Him, His finish work that, He did on the cross of calvary. He paid for the admission of our sins. Past, present, and future sins. He died on the cross of calvary for our sins, He was buried and He rose again on the third day. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of one sin and that one sin is the sin of unbelief. All the lost sheep will be found and they will never lose their salvation.

I’m so sorry for your brother, but, just know that he’s in a better place, and surviving loss shows that you’re worthy of being your brother’s sister, and that you are strong.
“20 years has gone so fast” RIP to all of the victims and heroes we lost 20 years ago today. And of course RIP to Billie’s father, Andy Armstrong. ❤️❤️❤️
@@shoegame1201 I just read it on Wikipedia (before I read this): esophagus cancer in September of 1982, when Billie was 10. I also read somewhere else (thought it was wiki but I couldn’t find it again as I wanted to quote it) that as a child, following his father’s death, his mom would try to get him to come out of his room, to which he’d respond, “Wake me up when September ends.” 39 years gone so fast…
Pain doesn't go away, no matter how many years have passed. Sometimes you forget about it and you think that you are finally alright, but it catches you.
Your right pain doesn't go away but if you get lucky you'll have someone that makes it the pain hurt less boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, brother, sister, grandpa, grandma, a friend just one person that will always be there and when your with them the pain may still be there but you'll know you don't have to be alone

My mom and I both loved Green Day. Billy Joe Armstrong wrote this in memory of his dad. It's been 8 years today since I lost my best friend in a surprise, short, and brutal fight with a brain tumor. R.I.P. Mom Can y'all wake me up when November ends?
This song was written by Billy Joe Armstrong in memory of his father who died of cancer on Sept 1, 1982 when he was 10 years old. I've listened to this song over 50 times, and each time streams of tears run down my face. The loss of one's parent can be very painful especially when one loses a parent as a child. Upon hearing the news of his father's death , Billy Joe told his mother "Wake me up when September ends". His father would have been so proud of his son if he knew how successful and well known he has become in the world of music.
This song really hits home now... My parents passed away Sept. 2020 from complications due to Covid... My father passed first and mother seconds after. Though they passed hand in hand, it's the hardest thing I've ever dealt with. I nearly died from a broken heart but knew I had to pull myself out of that dark place to take care of my own family.
I'm so sorry and I understand how hard it was for you and how hard it is to get over it, be strong you have your whole life ahead of you even if your parents are not with you physically they will live in your heart forever. Stay strong 💪
@@loamerlukas Thank you so much I really appreciate that! I’m doing much better. I honestly don’t believe that time heals, because it doesn’t feel any easier… it sometimes feels like the loss has gotten worse. But you learn to cope. Again, thank you son much!

Coming back after 12 years. A lot has changed. The feelings are defined now. This band, these lyrics, this video means so much more with years passing by. Thank you Green Day.
My dad introduced me to Green Day as a kid and its now my favourite band. Im 25 now and ive been lucky to see them 3 times - the 1st being with my dad. Its his funeral on Friday - 6th of september. Ive picked this song to play at the end. I love you, Dad, thank you for everything.
24 now, fast approaching an age where I will soon loose my paremts too. Mama Said by Metallica and Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day will be the songs where I will look comfort in. Who says music cannot change you? Who says music cannot heal you? Mama and Papa, if by chance you read this, I love you both, even though I don't show it much. I love you both, damnit, and now I am crying. I can also feel the emotion in Billy Joe's voice in here, the occassional wavering in his voice, the minor cracks too, this song really came from his heart, and I am really proud of you, Billy Joe, proud to be a member of Green Day family. This song would have been so tough to record for him, really.
the scene where the girl has to pay for their date because the guy was clearly struggling financially hit me hard, reminded me of the times when my ex girlfriend has to pay in most of our dates because I was struggling too I decided to join the merchant marine so that I can earn some money but I'll be away for a long time, she said that she couldn't wait for me and it didn't work out we broke up a month ago and this song just hits home.

I wish you all peace dealing with your loss. They say it gets Easier as time goes on but it doesn’t. You just Learn how to live a different way

Weird. I never heard the song start to finish or really even paid attention to what was being said. But somehow, I got the feeling it was about him losing his dad. Also my dad likes this song
There's a great video on here of them performing the song on Howard Stern where Billie Jo talks about exactly this. It's pretty obvious there's a ton of pain still there. Believe me, it doesn't go away.
My mom passed away Sept. 11. 1996. I enlisted Sept. 11, 2001. My battle buddy/best friend died Sept. 9, 2003. I was shot Sept. 19, 2005. September never ends.

I never knew the meaning behind this song being written. I used to have this as my wake up alarm in college, for fall semester. My Dad died last September, so the meaning changed for me. Now, knowing why the song was written, it resonates even more.
According to someone's comments here. His dad died of cancer in September and he said to his mom wake me up when September ends. But don't quote me. Just what I read.
He'd be proud of him in general. He's achieved and is still achieving his goals and dreams, he's helped millions, and millions of people, he's happy doing it, and so so much more. His dad would be very proud of him

This song perfectly represents depression and the sadness of losing something or someone. I've lost motivation to do anything, and I don't like things I used to like. To me this song describes the way depression changes you. I'm not here to seek pity or anything, I just want people to know what this piece of music means to me.
Nigersaurus is a genus of rebbachisaurid sauropod dinosaur that lived during the middle Cretaceous period, about 115 to 105 million years ago. It was discovered in the Elrhaz Formation in an area called Gadoufaoua, in the Republic of Niger. Fossils of this dinosaur were first described in 1976, but it was only named Nigersaurus taqueti in 1999, after further and more complete remains were found and described. The genus name means "Niger reptile", and the specific name honours the palaeontologist Philippe Taquet, who discovered the first remains. Nigersaurus Temporal range: Aptian - Albian 115-105 Ma
I'm 15 years old, I lost my dad may 21st of 2020, not that anyone asked for my story but I feel it's necessary to say this, please don't take life for granted, I know you've probably heard that from a thousand different people but you never think anything of it until something actually happens , I would give my whole life away just to spend one more day with him, he was my best friend, please go hug your parents and tell them how much you love them because that's something I can never do again, I'm sorry if this makes anyone emotional
Thank you for sharing. I doubt there’s anything anyone could say that will lessen the pain of that event in your life, and I don’t want to say anything hollow, but my advice would be to live like he’s there watching you, and guiding you to a better life even now. I am immensely sorry for your loss, and I hope you’re able to cope as best you can.
I’m sorry you lost you dad at such a young age, life shouldn’t be like that, I also lost my dad approx 10 years ago why I responded to your comment in the first place and although you may not understand this yet cuz his passing was so recent the pain and heartache I believe is something that lives on with you it just becomes easier to deal with also cuz with me the pain and heartache just wasn’t every day any more after time it came and went with the holidays and memories that popped up here and there so I I hope the best for you and know your dad is watching down on you always parents never stop doing that.😀

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this about his father, who died of cancer on September 1st, 1982 when Billie was just 10 years old. At his father's funeral, Billie cried, ran home & locked himself in his room. When his mother got home & knocked on the door to Billie's room, Billie simply said, "Wake me up when September ends," hence the title.

So true. So very true.
Your right pain doesn't go away but if you get lucky you'll have someone that makes it the pain hurt less boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, brother, sister, grandpa, grandma, a friend just one person that will always be there and when your with them the pain may still be there but you'll know you don't have to be alone
.... the evil side or negative side in our life span. We got to learn to balance it, and it’s tough asf

Can y'all wake me up when November ends?
This song was written by Billy Joe Armstrong in memory of his father who died of cancer on Sept 1, 1982 when he was 10 years old. I've listened to this song over 50 times, and each time streams of tears run down my face. The loss of one's parent can be very painful especially when one loses a parent as a child. Upon hearing the news of his father's death , Billy Joe told his mother "Wake me up when September ends". His father would have been so proud of his son if he knew how successful and well known he has become in the world of music.
The song is also supposed to be a little bit of a 9/11 tribute

@@ericdarmawan9504 this song is better than the garbage you listen to
@@ericdarmawan9504 Some people like me don't know where you guys find all the songs... I mean, somebody told me about this song, but like there are so many songs that many people know and I'm just discovering. Am I so asocial or what? Like, I didn't know about the Queen and ABBA until I was like 14, 15 🤷♀️ sure, I heard some of their songs on radio, but how am I supposed to know the musicians and how these songs are called? How do people just know it?!
