Hey Prof, is the Helix Sleep mattress still holding up for you? I’m looking to buy a new one
you know a can of Pringles would have been good enough to show the foil "quality' of the cards
I found collectors at guardian games. The foils weren’t curled either 🥰 thanks for the vid. Glad I purchased.
Prof, does it tie in with Spelltable?
Hey Prof, I'm asking the question "Is it worth it to buy a 30th Anniversary loot box of proxies for $999?"
This’ll still be the cheapest way for me to get into Warhammer.
Most underrated comment.
Make the jump - wh is more expensive but guess what - your miniatures won't rotate out, no one will ban them - they will be play pieces forever...
I would argue getting any of the Warhammer games on a steam sale beats it by quite a bit. But as far as physical media goes? I think you are correct.
@@RedRamDRA True, but the rules and varying power level of them will change. At least in Magic a card's ability never changes between editions
@@leechmilyfe4 that exact reason is why my 2 Uros are banned - good card, too good even. Same for both games - you can alter rulings in your play-group
This colab brought so many players back and new players to magic. It brought me back after a 10 year break.
it brought me back too, stopped playing in 2009, and im super hyped.
I'm back from 1999 because of this.
It brought me back after a 5 year break.
Brought me in as a new player
If they weren't trying to push out 50 new products a year they might have time to order additional print runs when something explodes in popularity. But I imagine their printers are always busy these days.
I wonder how many additional printers they may have needed to contract to get all this product out. I know a lot of product inconsistency has been blamed on having different printers.
This is print to demand so it's unlikely these prices will hold.
The Pritner is to busy trying to figure out the Heads I Win secret Lair
@@NyxTheScary Amen, only been waiting a year and a half for it to still be "in production"
@@kieferbiggs2561 they offered refunds in April BEFORE the timeframe of the delay. I asked for a refund last week only to get a copy/paste of the delay statement and basically a "lol no"
I actually love the flavor of the reprints. The new Swords to Plowshares is my favorite that I’ve seen so far (it’s a tank that’s been turned into a farming combine)
The creative reimaginings of existing cards is where I think _Universes Beyond_ will improve the experience.
It provides more "official card alters", but keeps the legacy of the original card name.
The cards that are completely made from the ground up with unique names and types, where you _don't_ have the option to play an actual non-IP version of it, is where _Universes Beyond_ will muddle the overall experience.
In the Lore the tank was actually designed to be a tractor initially
And to think that it's canonically right that the tanks is use in Agri since the pat used of it is literally for farming
Never thought about eating the cards, I'll try anything once though
Can't wait for the "is it worth it to buy $1000 proxies"
it'll be another video where he just answers "no" and stares blankly at the camera for 10 minutes.
@@sallad2645 This but he should commit to it entirely.
He's likely got that video on the backburner right now.
It's absolutely not worth it.... but considering how much people already spend on "official" proxies (gold-bordered Gaea's Cradle is over $150) people will still buy them. Wizards will make an absurd amount of money, and then move on to the next method they can fleece people with their product.
Well Rudy and other whales already said it is. The thing is they will be worth 3 times as much later. So if you want to play it’s not but if you collect or invest it’s worth it.
Seeing such powerful decks with entire new suite of art even for every reprint, I’d say it sucks that WotC didn’ do anywhere near the same service for their very own D&D-universe pre-constructed decks.
no fr, those decks were alright, these decks are outright OP
@@brotherzael7986As everything in WH40k is.
I honestly got all these because art was amazing and even though some of these cards may get reprinted, the art almost certainly will never be reprinted. They each have unique sol rings, command towers, commander's spheres, and arcane signets that look amazing!
Same. We are fortunate to have found them. We have about 8 LGS in the Minneapolis metro and all were sold out until I was able to find a store with a case. I ultimately decided on sleeving up Necron Dynasty and breaking apart the other 3 to sell as singles a year from now.
I'm actually blown away with the art and the reprint arts - wish they did that for every commander deck - giving new art to reprints does add so much flavor - they did a banging awesome job on this one...still puzzled why the Professor gave it only an "A" and not an "A++" lol
@@lukenzur1667 welcome to Warhammer 40k art gallery
There's no guarantee they will or won't be reprinted in in the future, perhaps as part of a 40k commander anthology set (after another series of 40k commander decks, including the Eldar :) ). WotC can and would reprint anything there's a demand for.
@@merchantmondo8985 2 months late but VCG in Fridley usually has stufff like these in stock. The owner is really good at getting enough for those who really want it.
The willingness, even if a begrudgingly, to recommend products that you don't want to like helps to validate the times when you don't recommend a product. Well done, Professor.
I intend to get these to be played against each other as I really like 40K lore, but I don’t see myself mixing in normal magic cards, other than maybe lands
Same, tbh. I will probably buy singles to add to other decks if I feel the need but these look so good right out of the box that I don't feel the need to fiddle with them beyond the mana base. And some of SoNC's tri-lands even look kinda Warhammer-y
Same
I got these to go with my collection of all the other commander precons. I've managed to get all of them unedited, so I was obligated to get these lol
What I'll do is if I make upgrades, I'll buy the singles but then create Warhammer proxies with GW art
I do like some of the generic reprints just for the skull theme the Necrons and some of the Imperium cards have, goes good into any creepy looking deck.
I honestly want WotC and Games Workshop to collaborate again to make precons for the 4 playable factions that didn't get precons. (The T'au, the Orks, the Aeldari, and the Leagues of Votann) (The Drukhari have the Aeldari as their top level faction.)
It's a shame that wotc doesn't care about it's own decks as much. I wish they would put this much effort into their own products
They do care. The quality of their precons is intentional, it's no accident.
ORKS ! ! ! id buy for the art alone and the comedy value lol
They would have to hate money to not run a solid print
Are we talking commander precons here because, as far as I can tell, people are loving every paper format as of right now.
Kamigawa even had a downgraded deck with an "extra land that was supposed to be a basic land (called Nissa, Voice of the Zendikar)" - I would trade all of these tyranids (which look very fun to play to be honest) for a handful of cool ninjas or samurais in precon decks (old planechase had the coolest ninja deck, was not even a commander deck).
Oh well, even a good Werewolves deck from the Innistrad with this level of effort...
Last time I played MTG was about 20 yrs ago and Warhammer 40k almost 26yrs ago. I’m on my late 40’s and when taking my daughters to an event of Cosplay at local mall I saw the MTG Warhammer 40k cards at a booth promoting a store I didn’t knew about. Long story short bought 2 Commander decks, called a long time friend who bought one. Both went to the store after the event, we found a players community of all TCG and miniature games that every night played. Now we are calling our old gaming buddies and there is now a group of old gamers that go on game nights all in our late 40’s almost 50’s for some. I’m even following this Channel and other MTG channels on RUclips just after getting back on the Magic Wagon. Love Warhammer, love Magic tG this is just an unexpected joy
It’s a shame they didn’t do Orkz. Ghazkull calling for Waaagh! could work really well. He could also have had the recursion mechanic like the hive tyrant does where he gets bigger because that’s also in his lore that he keeps dying and the doctor just slaps his head on a bigger body
I couldn't believe that they chose to do tyranids instead of orkz
Red maks tings goez phastr!
Orks are getting a secret lair.
They just revealed the secret lairs, including the Orkz. ruclips.net/video/PekMZaYVvTU/видео.html
Well who knows. 2 years from now.maybe we get Eldar and Orkz
The alternative Commander for Tyranid Swarm, Magus Lucea Kane, is probably a better choice than the Swarmlord. Passively adds a +1 counter every turn, and taps for 2 mana which, if used on a spell with X in its cost (of which the deck has tons), automatically creates a copy of that spell. It's still a "make big creatures and swing" deck but putting the Commander in a support role lets some of the Tyranid creatures really shine.
Swarmlord is way more fun and dangerous
Really interested to hear the take on the $999 collection box.
He posted a message on RUclips yesterday saying that video will be posted next week.
I can tell you his thoughts in one phrase “Command P”
Its coming, and I feel it will be his best video yet
Is it worth to buy 4 booster packs for $999 that contain Shivan Dragon?
No............
Lol it’s be a pretty obvious answer I think
I can also say I'm super lucky. She bought me that collector deck a few days ago and i opened a necron deck today in a wlamart mystery precon box
having 40 new cards per deck allows the decks to have a much more coherent strategy and more synergy than typical commander precons (plus flavor win, right?). but that's a lot of new cards, it's basically its own full set. I've got my eyes on a couple singles, but I could see myself needing some of the others in the future, so if the prices come down a bit (is that too optimistic?) I might pick up a full deck or two
They nor going down. Only up. StonKS
Picked up the Tyranid deck today and played a game out of the box with some friends. I lost but still had a lot of fun with it. Looking forward to tweaking it a little and continuing to play with it some more. Great review!
A thing to note, these cards are going to be hard to reprint. They are a licensed product and need two companies to agree with it. As a long time games workshop "fan" I've seen the company switch its strategy on a dime before
They reserved the rights to reprint the cards with universe within versions, so no collaboration will be required from games workshop.
@@erichdavis2897 True, but it's still a point of difficulty. Their new solution of printing mtg themed reprints with different names is awkward at best; I wouldn't expect to ever see more than 10 of the new cards in these Warhammer Precons made the jump.
They don't, though. Look at the Stranger Things in-universe reprints. They in no way reference the characters or places from the series, so Wizards can print them all they like. The real problem here would be trying to rename, get new art for, and find a place to reprint all 100+ cards from these sets.
@@anthonydelfino6171 yeah, they can't reprint every card as easily, but collaboration from games workshop isnt the problem.
@@anthonydelfino6171 The issue with this set that makes things different to reprint is that the creatures types (like Tyranid or Astartes, and others) are also not Magic canon, and the creature types are relevant in game too. So if they reprinted one of these creatures then they'd also have a different creature type (and I guess they'd have to also write new rules to specify that the new creature types are equivalent, unless they have a clever way to specify this on the card).
Though some cards (eg. Tomb Fortress) may be generic enough that they could get reprinted without renaming as well.
If things have gone this crazy for this set, I can't even start thinking what will happen with the Lord of the Rings one...that will have everyone + their grandparents buying it for x-mas gifts :D
Absolutely!
Omg no way
Hope the art wont be based on Rings of Power or some simmilar manure
@Red RumOnE Literally nobody gives a shit about rings of power. It will not hurt sales in the slightest. I guarantee you the Lord of the rings sales will completely blow away the 40k sales.
Correction: Everybody and their grandparents WOULD buy it if there was actually enough supply for once. Something that Hasbro doesn't really seem interested in.
The second these hit the pre-order page for my LGS, I bought one of each at the low-low price of $50/each. I have loved WH40K since the 90's and I was already all in on these decks before they spoiled more than a few cards. Now, after watching Game Knights and Pleasant Kenobi play with them, I am GUNNED to get them sleeved up and onto a table!
I found them for 40 € each for preorder, then they revealed the first deck the price went from 40 to 50 per deck over the course of the next hour. Was just able to pre order them for 45 € per deck during the hour (was watching the reveal) The next morning the prices were already at minimum 60 per deck. At all websites i looked.
same 50€
Pleasant Kenobi has a RUclips channel?!
Yeah same. I jumped on the collectors decks when they were 450 for the set of 4 on Amazon. Figured they'd be worth playing with but now I don't wanna open them... didn't realize they'd jump as much as they did in price.
Got one for $74CAD at one of my WPN premium stores. The other local WPN premium store is trying to scalp people for them which is unfortunate
These decks being announced is the main reason I started playing Commander again, so I of course preordered all 4 and will have to hold myself back from trying to buy more at my LGS while I await my delivery
I’m pleasantly surprised how well they pulled off the tone on a lot of these cards. I preordered the Tyranids and Imperium decks, gonna build Marneus Calgar and Magus Lucea Kane. I don’t have a commander deck in either color set and was waffling about building Raffine for Esper. I’ll have to see how weird it feels playing them against regular decks.
I played commander tonight for the first time at my LGS. I used the spirit squadron pre-con for the first two games , which didn't do poorly but also didn't seem to have enough to push out dmg consistently. I used the new Warhammer Ruinous Powers pre-con for the last game and ended up winning with it. It felt stronger that the spirit precon and has some really nice cards. Overall great experience for my first time playing commander.
To be fair spirit squadron is a control/pillow fort strategy not meant for a high damage game but rather a well timed board wipe to steal the win late game
Sweet! Welcome to the community! Please never forget that experience and remember to always keep having fun the main focus of the game 😎
@@adamharbour1255 where do I find information like this about the other preconstructed decks? Like how am I supposed to know what the intended strategy is? I assumed you know it was a go-wide make flying ghosts and just try to hit your opponents with more ghosts than they can block with, I didn't realize I was supposed to like try to time it or something
@@Gmwiseguy you’ll learn over time and eventually be able to look at a commander and immediately know what the strategy to build around is. If you’re just starting out and using a precon though, the sheet that comes with the deck should have info on the intended strategy.
@@Gmwiseguy it most certainly can go wide and swing hard but with the tapping sub strategy and upgrades you can go for definitely makes it a board wipers paradise to keep a board state, block to stay alive, and flash in fun stuff late game. you can read reviews and what not before purchase to get a general idea of what the decks trying to do. Most precons have two strategies that aren’t necessarily tuned in either direction to give you and idea for later upgrades. Coven counters is a good example with a half human tribal half +1 counters theme. I went all in on the human tribal upgrades and put kyler at the command center instead of Leinore and have a blast with it. Takes time to get the hang of deck brewing. Keep playing and enjoy the losses as much as the wins!
Fully blinged out precons is an interesting concept. I would opt for showcase art instead of foil though
Same. Wotc foiling sucks 9/10 times and the curling is really bad from what I've seen. Plus the "surge foiling" is barely noticeable, it just looks like half foiled zigzags on top of a normal card. The premium version for this just seems like an attempt to rip off whales. Showcase frames or art would be a better investment. Along with some normal foiling.
This. This is the best comment!
It's amazing that the extra Commander card they give you on the thicker cardboard looks better than the actual foil you get.
I would love full showcase framed precons. 😍
But that would cost wotc 2x to make...
Thank your Mr Professor for your in depth videos. I recently got into magic again after 10 years. I got into it when I was 13 and now I’m back at it like a crack addict and you helped me a lot with getting to know the cards that got released recently and to just get back into the game in general. Keep up the good work you’ve been doing for years I really appreciate you
I've always looked over to the Warhammer tables and been amazed by the armies, battle movements, and minutiae of it all. I've wanted to know how to play to know what's going on, but I know I've never had the budget to buy books and minifigs and paint and primer and varnish and the rest for a whole new hobby. So there is a part of me that wants one of these decks, just so that I can *feel* like I know what's going on with the Warhammer crowd
Check out the group that plays. Bet you money some of them have extra armies they'd be happy to let you use with them and teach you how to play
Basically you roll a bunch of dice, then roll some more dive, then your opponent roll some dice, and sometimes needs to roll more dice. Then you switch sides and dice rolls. You aren't really missing much honestly. The models are amazing though.
As a long time Warhammer and Magic player, I've been super excited for these decks. I'm hoping the price comes down to what they were a couple of weeks ago and then I will certainly pick them up.
I pre-ordered these back in September. I've been looking forward to them since the first cards were spoiled in June, and they look awesome. Definitely worthy of an A grade.
For the Tyranid deck, I would recommend switching out the swarmlord for Magus Lucea Kane, she’s just a lot better as a commander, with the copying effect on X spells and adding a +1/+1 counter each beginning of combat, along with being only 4 cmc. It’s just the better option
Also. the swarmlord still gets bigger the more times you cast her
I heard you could use Pemmins aura to tap and untap Magus Lucea to copy and copy the X spell. Would that actually work?
@@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299 yes, but since the magus doesn't tap for colored mana, you won't get infinite mana, so I'd rather stick it on something that taps for 2 of any color.
@@yazoink6690 Yeah you need blue mana for the activation but the deck does come with a tyranid that makes all lands tap for any colour :P
My LGS got in a set of the collector's "surge foil" decks. ALL 4 were fully curled - still in the plastic wrap. Even the thick, card stock proxy commanders were Pringles.
I bought all four for $58~ each. I’m quite happy with it, I’ve been brewing like crazy and will be switching cards around between them and other decks. I don’t know much or care much about Warhammer, but I’ve built a Tyranid and Necron deck with upgrades
I got mine for 65 each give or take. I'll probably leave them as is for at least the first year to try and get my brother and his friends back to magic. They are all big Warhammer fans. As far as I know none have done commander so might be a good introduction.
I feel really fortunate to have nabbed these at right around $40 each.
Wow, even beat me by a lot at 52 each
I got mine at walmart today and it was over 60
A year later, Necron Dynasties is selling for $120 and has recently been going up for some reason.
2 years later the precon sells for $200...
Really, they nailed it by offering decks in colour combinations that allow us to slot in popular functional commanders and cards to beef these into something new and better.
Trazyn and Marneus are some of the best commanders ever printed. Both have an infinite enabling mechanic. Trazyn does it off 1-2 cards.
This was the thing that got me into playing commander regularly with my friends. And worst of all, the imperium deck, the academic deck box and one set of dragon shield sleeves and inner sleeves still costed me less than a single box of warhammer figurines, not even counting assembly and painting and all that.
Mind blowing
I preordered the set of 4 for $160 and didn't realize they were shipping already, so I never had a chance to think about cancelling.
Im sure they will go down to this price eventually again, once the hype dies down. Wizards doesn't exactly show restraint in their commander print runs.
yep i got my 4 for 160 as well. As a former 40k player (especially CSM and Necrons) I absolutely love them. Bonus that they seem to be fun decks to play
I'm glad that I pre-ordered these when I did. Can't believe how high the prices have jumped up.
Gonna make a battle box out of these. It feels wrong to mix them with normal cards
Meh, I think it's OK to mix them in. I'm really tempted to get that Izzet Tyranid to build-around, some of the Vehicles are begging to be shuffled into Greasefang, and I might try out the Squad card that ETB Disenchants in Legacy.
So far of the IP crossovers, they are the most mixable to me. However, I love the idea of buying 3 sets of each and building a cube around them. Seems awesome.
It's not that uncommon in 40k to just fall in a hole and end up wherever. Like Warhammer fantasy. Or ravnika. Or wherever you are playing magic.
I’m hoping that we see a wave 2 because there are so many factions not covered. I was hoping for a red mono deck full of Orkz let by Ghazgkull
I cant help but think the Orks are going to be Jund if they do get printed
We're getting a secret lair at least. GAZ IS GETTING IN THE RED ZONE LADZ WAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHBH
@@punkhippe I mean, sadly he's just a reskinned Zurgo. (Like the Godzilla cards)
@@freakyzoid3565 just saw that. It's weird he isn't green but there are worse commanders to base him on. Just throwing hands at everyone blindly.
Adeptus mechanicus, Tau, (Dark) Eldar, DEM ORK BOYZ, and each chaos god could have their own deck.
40k was such a big part of my life for a long time that I couldn't help but be hyped when these got announced, the two biggest hobby influences on my life coming together. Even though I'm thoroughly on the fence about the rest of the universe's beyond and other releases, these four decks are great.
This set made me finally get into Warhammer and I've been having an amazing time with both, so happy I was able to get this set and find a new hobby to make friends with :)
This product got me to buy it. I was so excited to finally see new cards in a commander deck. I could finally play with fun cards, and new arts. I want to collect.... Trading cards....
To be fair though. I pre-ordered the 4 for only 150-160ish.
Edit: I love 40k. I love these decks. I finally have a little side cash and decided to slap it down. And I was extremely rewarded. Why isn't this a muti set deal with all the races/factions? There's so much content in 40k we could have entire draft sets.
The thing is.... I've already seen it everywhere. Tau players want a Tau deck, and ork players want an ork deck. I hope they do a second run of 4 new races with the same effort. It will sell. This product actually has legs and is fun to play.
I got all four, I was going to get the collectors editions instead, but wasn't willing to pay (at the time) almost 3 times the amount on them.
I'm going to keep them intact, so I can play them against each other, or use one to play against other precons or lower power decks, which is why I would of loved them in foil.
I may occasionally take one or two out, to put into another deck temporarily, if I don't end up buying the few singles to do so.
Bought all the singles I want from these decks on the secondary market and ended up spending what it would have cost me to buy one deck.
Untapping with Magus Lucia Kane is honestly really insane. Doubling up on X spells is wild. Double ravenous triggers and double creatures really helps outpace the removal and boardwipes.
I have the foil Ruinous Powers deck. Out of the box there was only a little curl, but, as usual, that's an easy fix if you sleeve them and put them in a snug box like a boulder. Mine are currently flat. Also, it's subjective to say so, but the "surge" foiling is awesome.
Hope they'll do a 2nd wave with the following decks:
Aeldari Might: Asuryani + Drukhari + Harlequins + Corsairs (+ Exodites, optionally)
The Greater Good: T'au + Kroots + Vespids + Demiurgs (+ Nicassar, optionally)
WAAAGH: Orks + Gretchins + Squigs
I got the forces of the imperium one. It's really good. Waiting for it to arrive and have an all out war against the other 3 decks
The cascade joke one of the best parts of the script, as well as the amazing review as always. Thanks, Professor.
played two games against the necrons and I have to say it is pretty strong right out of the box. Good synergies and resilient.
I just bought the Szerach pure black deck yesterday and it came out to 75 dollar after tax. I bought it to get back into Magic with a modern deck since all of mine are very outdated compared to modern day cards. Holy damn i am legit very happy with my purchase! The art style still has that certain Magic art style im used to. I dont fully understand how to play "commander" rules just yet but holy damn i am thoroughly impressed at how this deck is! No regurts on this purchase at all :D
They snafu'd the collectors editions but as someone who knows nothing about 40k, I see big bugs and demons and robots and I love them.
Preordered them at my country's game store (we only have two for the entire country and none in my city lol). I am very budget oriented and this was a huge expense for me (I do not own a single fetch land and am scraping by with pain lands or shock lands when playing).
Price for each one was around 44$ when converted. I instantly sleeved them and I am planning to keep them intact as their own separate theme. My kitchen table is playing mostly upgraded precons and some homebrews where probably my Volo EDH deck has the most bling (but they quickly smash me because they hate hornet queen x2). So it will be a blast playing these against each other or against my friends. Looking forward to it.
MTG is NOT a speculators game. It should be a game for everyone to enjoy. Play your favourite colours, archetypes or characters without worrying about FOMO. And if there are other huge 40k fans like me, we should all be able to buy these products without price gouging!
R E P R I N T S! (But not 1000$ proxies)
Abaddon is a biblical reference.
I agree I'd hate if my immersion was ruined imagine if I saw some 40K cards in the wild and it sullied thematic purity of my squirrel general sending a gingerbread man into battle alongside a 1920's demon gangster so my cyberpunk ooze ninja can replace it with a giant magitech golem that causes poison or cut-rate Cthulhu. My immersion!
The most thematic part of the release is that a 1/1 with deathtouch can kill abbadon, as he does nothing except lose
08:40 You think that's on the nose? The (Daemon) Primarch of the World Eaters, known for his uncontrolable and huge fits of blind rage is named... Angron. Now let that one sink too xD
I really want to buy one of these, but they have been scalped. The ones my LGS are selling have sold out. I really hate FOMO
Love your credit music, it’s like a educational video you watch at school back in the 90s.
I don't play Warhammer, and would probably be more of an Age of Sigmar fan if I did, but these are a must for me. The flavour is awesome, new cards are awesome, and I'm so glad that Prof thinks that they work together as a set. Thanks Prof, an awesome video! I've been hitting refresh on your page all day in expectation xD
Just had several games with the 4 precons this week end, and it was a the greatest games i had with precons for a long times. The balance, the themes, and the powerlevel of the decks were perfect for a good game. I love these precons ! Nice video prof, and i wait for other products like that, i hope.

Wow am I glad I preordered mine in August.. got all 4 for 170, arrived today, just waiting on sleeves now
This product was made for me. I love 40k, I love magic. I pre-ordered all 4 decks for $200 when they were first announced, I am very happy.
I pre-ordered this because I love warhammer and loved the product and I just hope the next commander products to be just as good as this. This bring back memories of the once a year commander products
As someone who's played Magic since Revised and 40k since 2nd edition sometime in the 90s, this set of decks is precisely aimed at me. I'm quite happy they seem to be good decks that play well together.
Been a die hard Tyranid player for 5 years. When I saw they dropped only 4 decks I was sad that for sure none would be tyranids. But what do you know one was. Got that shit a couple weeks ago and it will arrive in 2 days lmao. Wotc found out how to get all our money.
Yo, which faction do you play on tabletop? Mine is Emperor's Children
I got a set of all four at my LGS for a set deal at $225; I have long been a Warhammer 40k player and find myself enjoying the crossover. My original intent was to leave them as-is, however I do believe I will be upgrading the mana bases and making some small additions, such as an Ozolith in the Tyranid deck. I will likely be pulling a few cards aside for my checklist binder (keeping a proxy in the original deck) so that they can be used in other places, however, as there are a large number of powerful cards in each deck.
I would absolutely love it if they did a Yugioh cross-over
We've found who to blame for these crossovers lool
Man I would love an update video on how your deck boxes are coming along in production… maybe a tour of the facility? Content how these are prepared to your standards maybe good news on sending sooner in the US rather than February? Maybe even mention or address the lighting issue in the pictures maybe show us a video with you & the deck box personally. Maybe news if they can be eventually ordered at my local LGS to purchase in the future. Everyone here in Clearwater/Tampa Florida love your content!! They play your videos at our LGS & that’s how my wife & I discovered your channel! Love the work! 😊
Just feel like this product is for a player like me who loves magic by heart and Warhammer and it's just like the perfect mix. I'm happy to support my local game store for paying $250 just for the regular ones and avoiding the collector decks because I'm planning to actually sleeve them up and play them
250 for a regular? ur not good with ur money. will never buy them on that price. i got collectors for 119 no way i’ll pay 250
@@skullgraff6349 No no no. They bought ALL FOUR for $250, which is actually what I paid as well.
@@Vince5754Pro ohh,, my bad, apologies. now that’s decent for 4 complete for the price
got all 4 just above pre-order huge 40k fan and love these decks they actually got me back into mtg
I really wish future crossovers would follow this formula. I’d much rather appreciate “fairly” priced full flavor precons I can slam agains each other pretty much as a boardgame such as these than a handful of cards found in Secret Lairs that I just can’t find homes for in my decks.
Love your choice of words with "Full Flavor Preccon". That is exactly what the experience is. I will be borrowing that from you sir. 😆
I totally agree, I actually just recently stopped buying bundles and sets and just focus on singles but this Commander is indeed an A+
I brought all of them on lunch day. I think its the most I have ever spent on magic. When I opened up the Necron deck and sat sleeving them before the game I was like a giddy kid looking over how they had translated over stuff from how the units work in 40K. I cant wait to get some games in with the others in weeks to come. I honestly hope they do some more print runs of this so other people can enjoy them as well. my local shop only got two cases of them and they where actively encouraging us to get them from other places before there gone. id also like to see them do some other 40K ones in the future for some of the other factions.
But I adore 40K so im probably a bit one sided on this
I've been wanting to get into Warhammer 40K, and these seem like a great way to bridge the gap between something I love and something I am interested in. I pre-ordered them, so hopefully they come in. They seem like a lot of fun!
No, just no. This is more expensive than owning your own 40k army. I know, I owned 2 and played mtg. Mtg was far more expensive.
I got all 4 for $300 CND and I've also ordered the Ultra pro deck boxes and sleeves to actually play with them. My main pod used to play 40k so this will a nice throw back to when we used to argue over the 40k rules every game.
I heard this won't be a limited print, and I've been considering buying a full precon set if it's balanced and plays well. Might grab these decks if the price comes down.
Me and my friends got lucky at our local game shop, we got the last four for each commander pre con. They’re so fun to play with and the artwork is amazing
Before I watch I just wanna say, me and a few friends played these decks together. I picked tyranids threw a few cards in and played a 4 man pod. Had a fantastic time.
Thanks prof for this review. Vince, Pleasant Kenobi, got me excited for 40k IP, then these decks dropped. I've been able to pre-order all four non-foil decks from my local game store. Not a foil fan, so no loss there. It does appear that they are pringling when shown on other videos.
i picked up all 4 decks at my local card shop for $60 each. not disappointed so far. im gonna keep each of these decks 100% as they are to play against each other
glad i pre-ordered through amazon and got pre-order guarantee for 45 for nekron deck and hype to play it. I'm waiting for my ultra pro special sleeves to come in though to sleeve it up to get ready to play with buddy.
I absolutely love Warhammer 40K!! I have an ultramarine and Necron armies. I can’t wait to get my hands on these 4 decks and the Ork secret lair deck.
Amazon Japan has a few sellers listing the Collector's Edition for ~$600 for all 4 decks fyi - they appear to be the English release, but only ship within Japan.
I was definitely interested in buying the 4-pack when I saw it around $180, but then a day or so later the same 4-pack was $300, at that point it's just not in my best interests to buy.
Yeah. I’m torn. Wanted all 4, feel like any more than $200 is a terrible deal. Magic’s liquidity is pretty poor. IDK. Maybe I’ll buy one. MAYBE two: Imperium and Chaos… but still not sold.
My gf just open a necron 40k commander deck inside the deck was a Shard of the Void Dragon with a tiny defect on the bottom. That defect we would never have noticed but it was also circled by a blue marker right on the card.
In a multiverse that includes Neon Kamigawa, New Capenna and Phyrexia, I don-t think 40k is really that off tbh. I don't mind the higher price on future precons IF they are going to be as packed with flavour and new cards as these are, that said I'd like to see that same love and care put into mtg settings as well (new cards reperints and art), I'd be very dissapointed if the "premium" treatment is only for UB products. we'll see with the new Brother's War precons.
Thanks for the review Prof. it was a nice watch! :D
Except Warhammer isn’t part of the multiverse
@@davidgill9463 no, but honestly the game isn't part of the multiverse either. The magic universe as it was and maybe as it can be again was amazing, but the cards we play with are just representing what we heard and saw in the lore the game can contain whatever and still be fun. The lore of magic the gathering doesn't need to go crazy. Sure I'd rather not have Fortnite and Optimus Prime in my MTG games, but at the end of the day it's the words on the cards that make the game work and that's just fine.
@@jhemp no… the actual card game isn’t… literally part of the multiverse. That is true
I bought the Chaos deck (pre-ordered through a friend of a friend who owns a shop). I'm excited to play it. General consensus in my group is to keep the decks together to play against one another. Not sure how long we'll stick to "silo-ing" the cards. There are some singles I'd like for other decks. I paid far less than what they are going for, and would not pay the current "sticker price", however. I've made peace with Universes Beyond, and I actually am pretty stoked for the Transformers sub-set in Brother's War.
Prof: Only buy these decks if you love the cards in them
Me who bought all four: I’m doing this FOR THE EMPEROR!
Inviting the Black Legion, swarm and Necrons into your life? That’s heretical.
@@Asrimal that would be a correct assessment.
i bought 2 of each deck back when they first became available before mark-ups happened. one set is just gonna get sleeved up and never changed to play with some casual friends or Warhammer fans that are into magic. the other 4 are for taking apart and building with. these new cards are amazing.
not bothering with the Collector version though. fuck that price tag for what i'm 90% sure will be shiny pringles.
My main concern is just not being to find them at a reasonable price. I worked overtime to buy the Necron deck, but ended up having to use the money for more important things. Now I have no idea what these decks will cost by the time I'm able to have the spare cash. In a months time they may be completely out of my budget.
I hope you got one man ❤
I pre-ordered the full set of 40K decks at my small, Swedish LGS back in June, at about $60 each.
Glad I did, because in addition to being gorgeous and with a ton of cool designs, I had a lot of fun playing the Inquisitor Greyfax deck at my LGS today. Won my first game against homebrewed decks, and took out one player in the second (despite failing to draw a good starting hand or follow-up lands) before one of the players comboed off.
I... don't even care about Warhammer, but the themes and iconography are evergreen enough and I can enjoy Bad People Doing Bad Things In Space.
This is a great video professor. I never got into Warhammer but these decks look amazing. Necron Dynasties is my favorite and the esper tokens. Please Professor rip on Wizards for the reserved list b.s. with 999 dollar cash grab
I was able to pick up forces of imperium and necrons for $65 a piece from my lgs, another nearby store was going based off of online prices so I am glad my store came in clutch! 🎉
I got the tyranid one for three reasons:
1. I want to turn silly space-kavus sideways
2. I want to make a deck for Ghyrson
3. I want two or three cards from it for my wanderer deck.
I saw someone open a foil collectors deck and they were SUPER curled due to foiling. I managed to get my hands on two of them before the markups, and am excited to play them, especially with the new cards.
Also, the foil work on Be'lakor is gorgeous. I just opened my Abaddon deck and I LOVE the way the lasers POP on the foil.
