Having braces is like a nightmare! I remember the first time I wore, I have been restricted from eating all kinds of hard foods. Which I missed a lot. One thing that I learned during my braces period is that, never dislike any food because the food you disliked will be first thing you’ll be craving for the most, when you never get the chance to eat. It might not sound like at big deal. But trust me on this, it will be worse than you think.
To summarize this video, *No bracees do not hurt, if you have frail teeth it might hurt a bit but NO it does not at all hurt!* *Yes after the first week or to it'll be sorta sore.*

I just got my braces a few days ago. To anyone who is worried if it will pain, it won't. It just takes time and those mouth retractors are uncomfortable. That's all. I hope it helps. Edit: You will have difficulty eating at first too.
For anyone who’s anxious (to get braces) because of the comments down here, I would say that I got mine today and trust me they don’t hurt at all. They’re just exerting a little pressure which exacerbates when you bite or chew. This isn’t UNbearable Edit: ok, I admit they do hurt ouchh

Thanks for the video! I’m getting my braces probably in a few months. I’m gonna give y’all the best color options and worst color options in my opinion. Best: teal, pink, navy blue, purple, and black. Maybe clear but definitely not the best on the list. Worst: green, white, brown, and yellow. These can make ur teeth look more yellow, or look like there is food stuck in your teeth, and you would want to avoid these colors if you can. You would also want to avoid sticky and hard foods. Eat soft foods but not too chewy. Let’s say If you got chick fil a you could blend your food together to make it softer. Or cut up some things. I wouldn’t blend all your food cause some stuff wouldn’t mix well. But you know the obvious not to eat choices such as steak and stuff. Hope this helped you a bit!
I remember the routine from decades ago. Plenty of soreness initially, usually after each appointment when they're tightened. Also there's the soreness and irritation from the braces rubbing against the inside of your mouth. I was using plenty of wax. As time goes by there's less soreness and less of a need for wax. It's a combination of your body getting used to things, and just plain accepting things, so you can tolerate it better. I remember one appointment where the orthodontist slipped while using a tool in my mouth. He poked me bad. Blood everywhere. Even on the floor where other patients could see me bleeding from their chairs. I survived. No stitches required. If I needed any, there was a hospital across the street. He felt bad about it, but this could happen. It's worth it, so don't let the initial discomfort discourage you. No pain, no gain.
just finished my first day of braces and here’s my experience putting them on is not painful just very uncomfortable and u can taste the glue on your teeth. the pain starts to settle in several hours after and that when it starts to hurt. but luckily for me i have quite a high pain tolerance so it wasn’t that bad. as of now it’s just pretty uncomfortable and it feels very weird to chew and eat stuff.
They hurt like heck at first but definitely worth it. I had spacers put in between my molars a week before my braces went on and my back teeth hurt pretty bad. When the braces go on and pull the teeth in, its the front ones that will hurt. Good news is the pain might last for a week or so the first time, few days the second, less the third, etc, etc. Had mine for 2 years and by month 3-4 i felt no pain, even after my appointments. Again, worth every single second of the pain tho. Its really not too bad.
Me half panicked, half vibing here on the day that I'm getting braces apparently the rubber bands are supposed to be in for a week or two but mine have only been in for a day and they h u r t
OH I forgot about this!! I got them! The process did not hurt, it was just quite a bit of pressure put on your teeth. The only thing that kind of hurt was the lip separators they put in to make it easier to put the actual braces on. It did hurt and was kind of annoying to brush/eat for a few days after- but it's fine now! Flossing is really annoying just because it takes a long time ^^
for some reason after getting my braces tightened it hurts more than when i got them on. but maybe it's because i took pain killers after i got them on lol
They downplay this A LOT. Tooth pain is some of the worst pain you can go through and braces are definitely not just "mild discomfort". It hurts A LOT when they are new and every time they are tightened. Not to mention the canker sores, cut lips and the struggle to eat, speak and play certain instruments. Honestly, it always floors me how normalized braces for the smallest issues (one tooth out of line) have become. Loving parents who normally want their kids to never experience pain don't think twice about it. During a time when children are supposed to focus on their education, have awesome experiences with their friends and get good nutrition, we reduce them to sobbing in bed and drinking soup, unable to participate in sports or get much out of school for a week out of every four. And then say that it's "well worth it" for that "perfect smile". This is the only cosmetic treatment that we routinely subject children to. People that won't let their kids wax their eyebrows will get them braces. Orthodontics sure did a good job convincing the public that there is a "need" to fix every imperfection when that "need" wasn't there previously. Even people in old movies (from the 60s/70s) don't have perfect teeth. No one cared back then, unless, of course, the teeth were really bad.
I know this comment was posted ten months ago, but I wanted to say that I think the majority of this is because a lot of adults seem to genuinely not see kids as people until they reach eighteen. I hear people refer to kids as "students" when not talking about school settings, and it's frankly a bit dehumanizing. Nobody casually refers to adults as "workers." It's like we're not even able to form thoughts. Also I just got my braces yesterday and I am in excruciating pain 🥲
The most uncomfortable thing for me is when the dentist puts this super blue plastic thing to keep your mouth open.. omggg like it stretches your mouth wide lol
i wear braces, heres the short answer: yes heres the long answer: the first time you get your braces put on, it doesnt hurt for about 2 hours until you are sent into a misery similar to hell for about 2 - 3 days. the rest of the time it will hurt only slightly throughout the rest of the time you have your braces.

I don't feel any pain. Mild discomfort while my dentist does the adjustment but after that, no pain at all. The dentist even changed the wire to a much thicker one to tighten my teeth. I bought a lot of orthodontic wax but haven't used it at all. So don't be afraid to get braces if it is needed and advised by your dentist.
Ok y’all if your scared, I just got my braces recently. Getting them on was pretty easy and painless. They did put a heating thing that’s pretty hot and it kinda hurt but that’s it. Now, after. Oh boy. Of course everyone has different pain tolerance but I was in PAIN and still am kind of. So I recommend getting some ice cream, popsicles, pain medicine (please), and that’s pretty much it. The first day it’s just on and off pain the second and third day we’re so bad I was almost crying. But ice and ice cream, and cold water helped a lot. Along with Ibuprofen every 3-4 hours. Today isn’t as bad. Pain should go away in a week or so
It is not a DULL soreness. Or at least it wasn’t for me. It was THE WORST pain or soreness I had ever felt and mind you I had broken my nose before getting my braces on
i got my braces on 3 weeks ago.. it took 5 days for my teeth to not hurt as bad. i have never felt pain so bad- i would wake up in the middle of the night, and just cried my ass off. they hurt so bad
Short answer yes. I had mine now for about 19 months. I had to have extractions and honestly when the pain leave and you get use to the adjustment/rubber bands it be fine but the first three days are hell on earth. Oh yea I forgot to add when they put the molar band on your molar woo… that is awful you gotta bite down on this thing and it hurt super bad and it’s nothing you can do about it but bite. Not trying to scare anyone but just being honest

This makes me feel a lot more better now that I know that the pain is only bad at the beginning I'm getting my braces soon and I was really worried on how painful it was gonna be
First night of comprehensive braces. I'm having minor discomfort in general but putting any pressure even when chewing soft food hurts to the point where you just need to break the food as much as possible before eating. I'm going to adjust to a totally soft diet where you don't need to apply any chewing force-at least for the next few days.
guys, this video is super correct, i have braces and i just got my wire changed and got my bottom braces today and it hurts on the bottom but the top doesnt hurt because my teeth bones on the top are used to it already.
I had too much pain after putting on bands for 2 days, after which I thought it'll be relieved, but after putting on the braces the pain continued in the same evil way, it's already my 4th day of braces on and the pain is more or less the same.
It will be fine for the first hours, but then it will hurt really badly for 3-4 days. I couldn't eat anything solid. And it also depends if you are only getting the braces on top or below, because if it's below then you're completly fucked. I ended sick because I wasn't eating so prepare some soup and medicine to feel less pain because you'll need it
my braces did not hurt at all except when they actually put on the wire and bands my teeth are only sensitive for the first day or two when i got them tightened
I was crying the next morning when I got my braces because i had to take my medicine every 8 hours I was 2 hours late and you have to eat before drinking it was the worst😭
It’s been 2 months and the pain goes away after 3 or 2 days and every month you get them adjusted and you get to pick new colors or keep them the same colors also it’s the best to eat on the side of your mouth that’s how you have more varieties of food choices ALSO eat soft FOODs also after you drink your medicine(yes there is a medicine to make the pain go away) make sure to keep track of time because I usually have to drink it every 8 hours also you don’t have the pain everyday until the next adjustment.
it hurts a lot when u get your braces tightened especially when they change to a thicker wire(a thicker wire does hurt more than wearing rubber bands a lot)
What foods are the best when you first get your braces? And how long does the process usually take? I get migraines easily if I don’t drink enough water, is there a way to drink water with the cheek guards on?
An appointment scheduled for braces to be put on is one hour, but you will not have the cheek guards on the entire time. If you are worried about not being able to drink water during your appointment, please talk to your doctor ahead of time so they can do their best to accommodate you for your appointment. Any cold foods will help with braces pain! Drinking cold water will help too! To learn more about foods you can eat check out this video: ruclips.net/video/9mqgvcyC-eM/видео.html
Thank you so much for the video, I'm getting my braces in two weeks, I'm still nervous, but this video made me feel better. I'm thinking about getting a blue and a purple bands, is that a good choice?
To anyone getting braces, you will most likely wake up at 3am to excruciating pain for the first few days of braces no matter how many pain killers you take. Also rubber bands suck but you should still wear them.
My expirence : my dentist put some rubber spacers in between teeths for 2 days. I found it very very painful and uncomfortable . I couldn't chew anything or brush my teeth . Doctor removed the spacers after two days and Put on the braces. During the procedures it didn't hurt at all but I was really uncomfortable . After getting it done almost after 2 or 3 hours it started getting a bit hurting but whenever I tried to chew food it hurted like hell 😂 . After a week I got adjusted with the braces and started eating normally But after 3 months my dentist started to tighten the braces so hard . It literally hurt so much that I regretted my whole decision of getting braces 😂 but it has been almost a year since I got my braces and I gradually became adjusted with it ... The main cons are getting food stuck in braces 😂 especially when your not eating from home it is a problem 😃 its really good thing that we get to wear mask to cover my mouth 😉
I'm getting my braces on tomorrow and I'm absolutely terrified, I just have to remember that there's been million of people before that have gotten them on, and there will be million after.

@CloudGaming just got them, and yes, i would like to rip them out. but again, it's different for everyone
Yes this happens
Oh gosh I'm in the line for braces here
yes you are right
To summarize this video,
*No bracees do not hurt, if you have frail teeth it might hurt a bit but NO it does not at all hurt!*
*Yes after the first week or to it'll be sorta sore.*
Yeah usually when you get them on they might you might be bit uncomfortable but most people after a few days, it starts to be sore
They're the most physical pain I've had in my entire life
Me: **Has a wound in the check inside my water*
My mom: **Gives me Ice & Saltwater**
**Works**

For anyone who’s anxious (to get braces) because of the comments down here, I would say that I got mine today and trust me they don’t hurt at all. They’re just exerting a little pressure which exacerbates when you bite or chew. This isn’t UNbearable
Edit: ok, I admit they do hurt ouchh

@@Jana-qy2id It’s completely normal. I either use my tongue to mash the food or cut it into small bites first then just swallow. I can’t wait to take this thing off 😭
Thanks for the video!
Yes, but depending on how bad your teeth are, is how painful it'll be
I remember the routine from decades ago. No pain, no gain.
just finished my first day of braces and here’s my experience
putting them on is not painful just very uncomfortable and u can taste the glue on your teeth. the pain starts to settle in several hours after and that when it starts to hurt. but luckily for me i have quite a high pain tolerance so it wasn’t that bad. as of now it’s just pretty uncomfortable and it feels very weird to chew and eat stuff.
me 5 seconds after the video getting ice-cream, wax and salt water because I just had my braces tightened
Me half panicked, half vibing here on the day that I'm getting braces
apparently the rubber bands are supposed to be in for a week or two but mine have only been in for a day and they h u r t
Update!!!

I had my braces since 2018 and I still have them now. It took a little while to get used to but I'm fine with it.
I'm getting braces after 2 months, I literally just clicked on this video, and then I remembered, only ice cream for the first day, it makes up
Yes braces do hurt a lot. You will feel pain after every tightening appointment. Especially when you get rubber bands added.

yes
heres the long answer:
the first time you get your braces put on, it doesnt hurt for about 2 hours until you are sent into a misery similar to hell for about 2 - 3 days. the rest of the time it will hurt only slightly throughout the rest of the time you have your braces.
My tooth is already hurting before I get mine on because of seeing these videos and comments

The painful thing is making spaces before putting braces on. Rubbers are put in between molars to make space that is very irritating at first

Can you share you’re experince , kinda nervous here
It’s been 2 months and the pain goes away after 3 or 2 days and every month you get them adjusted and you get to pick new colors or keep them the same colors also it’s the best to eat on the side of your mouth that’s how you have more varieties of food choices ALSO eat soft FOODs also after you drink your medicine(yes there is a medicine to make the pain go away) make sure to keep track of time because I usually have to drink it every 8 hours also you don’t have the pain everyday until the next adjustment.
Which typodont do you recommend?
Idk bout y’all but tightening is PAINFUL.
I thought that scratching off the glue is painful?
it hurts a lot when u get your braces tightened especially when they change to a thicker wire(a thicker wire does hurt more than wearing rubber bands a lot)

I went through braces and got scared told it does not hurt TRUST ME IT HURTS I GOT MY 2 MONTHS AGO
To anyone getting braces, you will most likely wake up at 3am to excruciating pain for the first few days of braces no matter how many pain killers you take. Also rubber bands suck but you should still wear them.
Yes me today
My expirence : my dentist put some rubber spacers in between teeths for 2 days. I found it very very painful and uncomfortable . I couldn't chew anything or brush my teeth . Doctor removed the spacers after two days and Put on the braces. During the procedures it didn't hurt at all but I was really uncomfortable . After getting it done almost after 2 or 3 hours it started getting a bit hurting but whenever I tried to chew food it hurted like hell 😂 . After a week I got adjusted with the braces and started eating normally
But after 3 months my dentist started to tighten the braces so hard .
