Oh, I'm looking for a job in the medical team in a cruise ship, but I'm from Venezuela, would you mind sharing if you hire people of specific countries for the medical team?
@@sakurikitty I dont know about countries. I do know the medical staff is usually very small. Even on the largest ships, most likely less than 10 in total. Between the doctors, nurses and other medical staff. It maybe easier to look at more common departments to get started with, and work into medical if thats what you wish.
thank you! I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it but I think when shedding light on some of these topics it was important to show a perspective other than my own ☺️

Very well documented video about living and working on cruiseships as I worked on ships for about 16 years. I have seen many documentaries of what it is like to work on ships and they created a very negative stigma or a false wonderland. It was really nice that you interviewed crew as well, because they are hardest working and most respectful people that I have worked with in the world. I look forward to seeing more video's from you!!
Recommending therapy is really great. So undervalued. Also congrats on the relationship! You make us so happy so it's awesome to see you happy as well!
The comment…deep-seated fear that I’m not good enough to do something else… Whatever career path you’re on, at some level, this is very relatable. Thank you for posting that!
I did spend a lot of time on ships (different ones: research vessels) and I find a lot similarities. You really get to know someone much better during a month of a cruise than during a year working with them on land. And yes, all kind of relationships. Actually I think there are more of them on ships than in most other work places.
“ because i have a deep seeded fear that im not good enough to do anything else “ 😭 😂 nah you ain’t lying. I just decided to become a electrician but I’m thinking what he’s thinking all the times so i stay as a janitor ( rn ) 😢

Your a delightful person Alley!! Never let anyone get you down, your first instincts were correct!!! Thankyou for sharing. There are lots of fish in the sea and cruise companies, get em Alley 🎉
The last expectation reminded me of being on a college crew team. While it's not the same as being on a cruise ship, you're still training and competing together most of the time and everyone knows everyone else's business. You definitely can't hide a relationship if you're dating a teammate.
Thanks, Alley! It is always awesome to get some insight into things that are interesting but kinda veiled from the public eye :) I know that a lot of us here appreciate these kinds of videos :)
Also, with regard to pay, you have to remember that the “compensation plan” for a cruise ship employee looks a bit different than it does for a land-based employee, namely that food and housing are factored in as well to some extent. While I may make about $2k per month after deductions, I have to pay for my own housing out of that, whereas that cruise employee making $500 a month has that cost already deducted. Think of it like apartment hunting: one place I looked at in college said $450 a month plus utilities, while another said $750 a month inclusive. But the $750 a month place also covered utilities, bus pass, and came FULLY FURNISHED. The cost trade off was more than worth it, because it meant that was one less thing I had to consider while living there.
If it fits your vision, it would be really valuable to learn from you about what it’s like to work on a cruise ship while having a partner on/off the ship. Working on a cruise ship is a bucket list item for me, but now I’m married and I can’t fathom choosing to be separated for months. Can spouses stay on board?
