I feel like the game did exactly what the company did sold out everything the game was about to secure a quicker buck but I feel like they lost way more by going the route they did cause sr1 nd 2 are still considered some of the best sandbox games out while 3 and 4 barely gets mentioned at all

It sucks having been so invested in Saints Row 2 and where the story would possibly go from there, and then to follow it up with such a disconnect in both 3 and 4 which had very little to no payoff for 2. I’m glad more people have come to realize Volition’s bs since then.
He may be a fictional character in a video game, but Johnny Gat was that cool South Korean hype man with a love thing for black women like his wife Aisha we all loved, the Volition clowns didn't have to do him like that let alone the Saints Row series primarily 2006 Saints Row & Saints Row 2. We love Johnny Gat like that cool friend we always wanted in life, got that lovable big brother spirit, unlike Dexter "Dex" Jackson who is the embodiment of every asshole in existence so disrespectful towards you the player, the 3rd Street Saints of Stilwater & Stilwater civilians it's amazing how that hated character could piss off everyone in two canon Saints Row games.

The natural next step felt like it needed to make the Saints bigger so there opponents could become bigger. They could've made the next step being opposed on a multinational basis, being that they had advanced to presidential status. But they went alien route.

I mean technically (and unfortunately I came to the realisation myself today) The Saints Row reboot is in the same universe of AoM and since AoM, The Boss never existed, only Gat, Kinzie, Pierce and Oleg (Yeti), so getting the old Saints back in the Reboot is sorta impossible unless (and I highly fucking doubt Volition will do this) Retcon Gat Out Of Hell by making a DLC that somehow fuses the timeline before The OG Boss ends up in hell and stop that from happening, in turn, stopping Gat Out Of Hell from happening which then in turn could fuse the SR reboot into the original timeline so the old Saints could come back (I feel like that's what Volition is doing cuz in the recent DLC, you can find the Steelport statue, the weapon 'Murica and a cardboard cutout of Killbane which could hint that something involving the past COULD happen but I doubt it)
I think the proper way to reboot Saints Row is using this AoM Johnny Gat albeit in a more proper way. I'm sharing what's on my mind if Saints Row (2022) used AoM as a basis: Lt. Johnny Gat is one of the top member in the Stilwater Police Department, everybody respected him except the higher-ups due to numerous damages he caused along the way, branding him the loose-cannon of the force. One day, Gat was called to the office by Chief Julius Little and Deputy Troy Bradshaw after a gang raid that goes wrong and they give him two choices: Get suspended for a month or moved to the SAINTS (Stilwater Anti-Insurgency & National Threat Service) Unit, Stilwater PD's special police unit that stands higher above the SWAT team, even the FBIs, where most of the members are disgraced FBI agents, ex-gang members and special forces (to put it simply, an elite unit within the Stilwater PD, but branded as black sheeps due to the member's track records). The members are the retconned original Saints member from the old timeline, that includes Playa/Boss who is the head of SAINTS and Gat's old friend along with Shaundi, Pierce and Kinzie in this timeline. And together with Gat, they work together to get rid of the gangs from the streets of Stilwater. But, they learned that the problems are not just the gangs, but also the S.T.A.G Unit (from the SR3 timeline, but in this timeline think of it as a much decorated and praised SAINTS Unit) who tried to discredit the SAINTS and get rid of them so they could take all the glory of getting rid of the gangs for themselves. But, they can't rely on themselves as they need more and more allies to do so and all of them are revamped/rebooted version of their old allies from SR1-SR4 excluding Zinyak and Zin Empire because the SAINTS are very low on manpower due to their high mortality rate and Stilwater P.D thinks they're just cannon fodders than an actual police unit. Thinking that this is the perfect chance to get rid of Stilwater from gangs as well as raising SAINTS Unit's reputation in the public, SAINTS will do anything to protect and serve Stilwater and get rid of the gangs no matter the cost. “DO THE RIGHT THING, NO MATTER THE COST.” - SAINTS Unit's motto. Like u the playa hustle in the music industry with ur boy Dex, cause Dex is just that dude with plan, street smart and book smart. U two work on making new tracks and dream of making big into the trap scene. shit goes tits up when another crew try to snuff u out when u start seeing success by trying to assimilate u. Dex introduces to some crazy mofo he met in short stint in juvie, that where J. GaTt comes in. with u has the Head/Jack of all trades, Dex as the Brains (this time he doesn't bounce) and the only one u can talk some sense into gatt and Johnny Gatt as the enforcer. U set up to start ur record label as front (in case u wanna go legit). one thing leads to another now some other group/company that delves on hard drugs and uses crews to sell their product tries to use the saints. but the playa Dex and Gatt reject that, and decided to sell their own product just to shown them who really runs that town. That's where Pierce comes in, he was selling product with some other crew that worked with the company. but was feeling left out when his leader wasn't taking advantage of his ideas and they where being stomped by other small crews. Seeing as the Saints where just starting to make their mark on the town he decided to ditch his ol crew and roll with Saint. The playa and Gatt don't see much in him but Dex sees the potential (all 3 still make fun of pierce but instead of dismissing like in Sr2 Playa/boss and Dex treat fearly from time to time) Need to make product that rivals the "Company" Pierce offer them a semple but since none can't replicate in other to improve it they need someone who might know someone. That's where Shaundi comes in. She is and old acquaintance and costumer of Pierce. she provides Pierce with info where the hot spots to sell his product or about other for few free samples. Cause she been around also her and Pierce go to the same college/university (All these saints are in their early 20's) Boss between 19-23 (ur choice, never went, graduated, drop out, flunked) Dex 22-24( graduated) Gatt 22-24(drop out) pierce 20-23( goes from time to time/ does business) Shaundi- 19-21(same as Sr2) gonna stop here cause this is getting long

The new game it looks alright when I saw the gameplay and mission video preview. I even tried out the Boss Factory I understand the customization on clothes is only in beta so I expect it to be buggy. Apart from that, gameplay seems fun but the missions and story I'm not so sure, but with customization my character look more gangster than the saints we're about to be with.

Genki is in it. I think he's a demigod and can't die through means like hard reboots. Maybe he can traverse realities or can multiply at least in the Saints Row multiverse. Agents of Mayhem seems to work off comic book logic, and if so, that means God could've just created a whole new universe where the Saints are much weaker. Just because he's God, doesn't mean he held up the bargain completely; maybe the loophole was making the new Saints a joke as they are and erasing what memories of Johnny's he could. He created, it got destroyed, he can destroy, and he can create and destroy time and again. They wrote themselves into a hole, so now anything can be possible. Our Johnny is still there somewhere.
