When I was young I always wanted to travel to Scotland & Ireland. Now it doesn't look like I will make it over there. The years of my life have swiftly past, I'm now to old to make that trip. I will enjoy your videos and dream of times past. I have subscribed to your channel. Wishing you peace and happiness. Katy, from Oklahoma USA 🇺🇸 .
You are not too old to go anywhere, don't say that! I really wish you don't stop doing anything because you think you're too old, you still are allowed to have dreams and conquer them. ♥️
I have no experience hiking or camping, but man would I love to go over here!! The UK countryside is beautiful in general. I started doing landscape photography for fun, within the Lancaster, PA area, but then I realized wow I'm really good at this lol. I would be satisfied just walking around and taking pictures.
I have lived on Skye for 20 months and, until we moved, had never experienced storms. I love them, being out when nature is throwing a tantrum, is so exhilarating. Everyone should get the opportunity to witness these storms first hand as they are amazing.
Their happiness and joy, no matter the weather or circumstance, is infectious! I felt myself laughing and smiling with them! To me that’s a place of pure freedom and endless natural beauty!😃👍✨💖✨
I grew up on Barra, and as a result the experience has given me a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature . Your videos are little gems. I have shared on the local Facebook group so I hope you will have many more followers.
I have fallen in love with your channel. Your videos are beautiful and give me such peace and wonder for the natural world. Plus, your Scotland videos have soothed my longing for the wild highlands and islands. We visited for the first time last year right before the pandemic and I want so badly to go back.
I was on the overnight ferry from Lerwick in the Shetland Islands to Aberdeen about 15 years ago and the waves sounded like shotgun blasts when they hit the side and I literally thought that we where going to turn over and sink but as I'm typing this obviously we didn't!The power of nature is amazing.
There's nothing better than a Hebrides storm! I was once in a shepherd's bothy on one of the Hebrides islands with one of the wildest storms ever... and it was exhilirating! I was in the Hebrides last week, but no storms this time unfortunately... but still amazing! :)
I love your videos ! Very atmospheric , and love your narration . I've watched many , who try to film their holidays , but you seem to have just the right mix ! Thanks
Absolutely blown away!! what a beautiful couple you both are. You clearly understand and appreciate the most important treasure that can’t be bought or sold... what treasures you have discovered and shared, so many things but despite the beauty of the island the shells, how wonderful, all the colours and that fragment with the dots ... clearly we live in a world that has been made by something far greater than we can comprehend ...love and blessings to you both and thank you for celebrating and sharing such beauty and goodness xxx
The Outer Hebrides is my favorite part of the UK, I'm planning on going back and hopefully visit my clans castle which you can see at the end of the video when you bored the Ferry called Kisimul Castle, as when I was on holiday in the Outer Hebrides in 2019 I couldn't get to the Isle of Barra because of the storm's. It's still a beautiful place.
So funny, I was on the isle of Eigg this very same weekend. We set out to walk to the shop (usually a 20 min walk) and it took us 2.5 hours in the wind. It was really nice to be locked up cosy indoors with the fire on, though, watching the weather. Really enjoyed this video :)
When I was 8 years old my family and I were finishing a sabbatical my dad had been given from the college he taught at. Scotland was the last country we visited before going home. I remember the beauty of the county. Crystal clear little rivers and the lochs and mountains. Thank you for your wonderful videos. It makes me want to go back again.
I am from the northeast U.S and tropical Puerto Rico and I am used to all storms. As long as I am blessed with a good shelter, I love riding out storms. Scotland offers so much like nature, countryside, lochs, good people and really dynamic weather. My kind of a good time.
So beautiful! Makes me miss home so much. I still have family in Ireland, Scotland and lakes region of England. Have lived in Massachusetts USA for 30 years. We try to visit every 5 years when possible to get time off from work. Thank you for beautiful videos. 🍀🇺🇸
Thank you for allowing us into this glimpse of the beauty you got to enjoy. It was quite stunning and exciting to see the storm in the cave. This would be my dream come true
Really nice to see you two so wildly in joy. Just this morning I wrote an offer to a Scottish couple, offering to garden & massage in exchange for room & board. I was last in Scottish mainland & upon an island, to remain unnamed..in 2000 peddle bike free camping..2 months, England too. Quite nice !
I dream of visiting Scotland since I was a child! So far I haven't achieved that, hopefully one day I will :D Your videos bring me so much inspiration, beauty, and hope! Thank you for sharing this and much admiration and support 🏴💙💖 Keep it up👏
I love your videos so much! Love your voice and how you tell your journey. Are you a writer? Would love to read your book one day if you are. I love how you describe what you see, feel and experience. We can hardly wait to return to Scotland 2022❤️ 🏴 love from Kentucky, USA
Went to a Ceilidh (Scottish dance/party ) at Kisimul Castle, , Castlebay Barra many years ago, (shown at he end… one of the most memorable days in my life…
Your videos are so good and the music that you've chosen makes me feel like I could be watching scenes from a movie. That weather though. lol My partner and I live on the east coast of Scotland, so we're used to bad whether, but it doesn't usually get as bad as you guys had it in this video. Haha. Keep up the great work!
Typical Easter in Scotland if you ask me. Only country where you can experience the four seasons in one day. We still had to go to school in more severe conditions when I was young. Oh how I miss it.
Enjoyed the video. How did you go about renting a cottage on the Island? I assume it was either Vatersay or Barra , right? I dream of going to the Outer Hebrides someday. Thanks.
I wouldn't recommend anybody try copying Alexandra and going in that cave, particularly when raining. The middle of Vatersay is formed from a sand bank between two rocky outcrops. The cliffs on the west beach are made from sand and earth. As a result, they are unstable, and liable to collapse if eroded from below. Nature is beautiful, but it has its dangers too!
1:59 best not to disturb the resting swans and to keep a discrete distance. By flushing them and forcing them to make an escape flight you are making them use up precious energy in that awful weather.
@@alexandrareuter327 we live on Lewis and have explored most places. Have you heard the Vatersay boys? Worth a listen but I must say that’s not as bad as some we get up here where you can’t stand up outside. Winds over 100 mph
I haven't read any gothic novels but that was my first thought also :-) But I do live in an area where the difference in low and high tide is pretty awesome.
We didn't disturb them. You mean cause you can see them flying in the video? The swans (as well as quite a few other sea birds) kept landing and then flying again from one puddle to the next. Pretty sure it had nothing to do with us. There was quite a bit of competition between the different birds. The swans eventually settled in a big puddle at the bottom of a hill, a bit more sheltered from the wind.

nice one Katy!
I'm 52, and I'm currently doing backpacking on the outer hebrides. I did this when I was in my twenties, and now I repeat. ❤

Scotland is so beautiful. Everything so green. Have lovely memories of there. ❤️❤️

Looks like you were on Barra? I live in the Highlands, glorious place to live. Been here 20 years now and love every second of it.
“It felt I were dreaming ,if it wasn’t for the raindrops stinging my face” SO BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I remember the clean white Sandy beaches of Barra, with the clear waters turned turquoise by the kelp. Heaven.
Ditto! I love this... Scotland... wild and free....

Saw that on a travel youtube video knowing of something went wrong you are fcked in that weather.
Hi Alexandra, what a lovely video, I really enjoyed it. All the best, David
It was only a breeze
Anything above a force 12 is called by the locals a good drying day for the washing

I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! It truly was a wild and magical experience! :)

A wonderful video which illustrates that nature can heal itself, without any intervention from man. Thank you. ilona
Something very atmospheric about your videos, very enjoyable to watch
I love it when something this beautifully done appears (seemingly) out of nowhere 😊 Superb skills! Stunning place!
No such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothing ! I like the way you adapted to your situation and embraced it
I dream of living that close to a beach like that 💙 my heart yearns for it .

Seeing this a day after Hurricane Ian in the US. Looks like a walk in the park. Stay safe.

Sooo love scotland and the people, well done
New subscriber here :) really enjoying the simplicity and slow pace. Keep them coming!
I think marooned is stretching it a bit LOL there are shops, other people, real housing...
Exactly my reaction....!!!
I assumed they just meant stranded due to ferry cancellations. Perhaps you're reading too much into it.
Lovely and stunning place.
What a wonderful experience!
lovely series of videos
Enjoyed your video, the weather extremes are unreal love yer cheerful attitude, great to have a soul mate with similar interests❤️😎

A dream…….the calm after was so pure
At least there's no hurricane waiting for you in all that weather!
Crazy wind but no hurricane??
I'd be out there in it, like yourself!

Nice island!

Beautiful video. Andy UK
I grew up with that kind of wind. It is pretty wild.
Beautiful video.💕 You are wise to collect spiritual romantic moments in your life. It's what you will remember when you are old.
Awesome

You appreciated God during the storm so God appreciated you the next morning blessing you with beautiful day

I haven't read any gothic novels but that was my first thought also :-) But I do live in an area where the difference in low and high tide is pretty awesome.
Welcome To Scotland - R A I N :)
See your the one couple out, everyone else in the cosy homes
Yes this can be a harrowing experience, contending with nature…..

1:20 those plain houses with no chimney pots are very out of place. They look like suburban bungalows in any town.
But why wouldn’t people there live in nice modern comfy houses too

''Marooned on an Island'' . 😃 - strange people.
❤❤👍
None of these dwellings are aerodynamic.
Cue the Hebrides Overture...
mmmMmm This video is giztagular!
Stranded maybe but not marooned. Good video though.
From nature's storms of the Outer Hebrides with no facial masks...to the Covid-19 storms of the mainland with facial masks!
