I think the one with the poker game is where the series really started to come together. The first half of the season still had so many random things that they were trying out and abandoned. This episode feels like the first fully realized 'Friends' episode, as the show would get defined.
About Phoebe and Joey's kiss: Joey realised it was Phoebe, not Ursula, and was so touched that she would do this for him (break up with him gently on Ursula's behalf) and Phoebe was like "wow one of my best friends just kissed me!" 😆 It doesn't mean anything more than that. Also, I feel like I keep saying it but E18 is one of my favourite episodes! I think it's obvious Ross won. Even before he said "look how happy she is" I knew. He would do anything for her, including "losing" when he HATES to lose. And I see we need to get you to react to some George Clooney movies, but ER would be great too. It was his break-out role, before he became a huge movie star. He and Noah Wyle, also from ER, were absolute heartthrobs back in the day (and at least George still is). I didn't even start watching ER until after George left the show, I only caught it on re-runs, but I still feel so old when I see people kind of recognising his face but not knowing from where 😭😂 Fun facts: Initially, Courteney Cox auditioned for Rachel and Jennifer Aniston auditioned for Monica, which makes the insurance storyline even funnier. The plot about the gang playing poker was inspired by the cast playing together on set.
In the 1990s there was a TV medical drama called ER. George Clooney and Noah Wyle were two of the stars of that popular show, and it was filmed on the sound stage next to Friends. Hence the crossover and huge reaction from the studio audience.
3:07 You don't recognize George Clooney? He and Noah Wyle, the other guy, were regulars on the hit medical drama, ER, which aired on NBC Thursdays nights, one hour and a half after Friends. Both shows were sister productions under Warner Bros TV. Ross and Monica's dad is played by Elliot Gould, who co-starred with Clooney in the Danny Ocean trilogy.
@@icedquokkaER was massive in Australia in the 90s (also staring Anthony Edwards - ie Goose from Top Gun). I know a lot of people in the fandom don’t like Ross and hate him , but i always saw the good and sweet part of him and thats why he’s my second favorite on the show they all have their own flaws and make mistakes but somehow Ross is the only one who gets more hate
I think that most people hate Ross for some particular episodes in season 3... I think it's too much hate for a couple of episodes in a 10 season series
Ive realised that usually when you yourself have seen some series or movie like 20 + times you forget what your own first impression was. and it gets easy to judge others first reaction. did it with your view on ross first and got annoyed but then i realised that i dont even remember my own first impression of ross... started to like your reactions now
I think Ross never had a competitive hand from the start. That's why he initially tried to fold. Once he saw Rachel's insistence, he saw the opportunity to bless her with a big cash win and personal victory. He raised the bet as much as he could afford, all the while knowing she'd win and he'd "save face". He was bluffing, counting on her persistence to bless her.
12:42 after watching this scene i realised Phoebe did this to give herself an ego boost by using valuable friendship with Joey, and it wasn't about protecting Joey from Ursula.
Did she imply that it was? Not everything is an attack on men. Raising two kids is just as hard as being a working parent (depending on what the work is of course), if not harder. You also don't get paid for it. And a lot of people (because, yes, men can be stay-at-home dads) enjoy being a stay-at-home parent, but that doesn't mean it can't also be hard (as it is with any job).
Hey, I didn't know who the doctors were either. I've never seen George Clooney and knew what he looked like. Basically, I don't know who he is beyond his name.
I think it's an age thing.. if you're over 30 you would have to be living under a rock half your life not to know Clooney... if you're younger it's understandable but late 90's to early 2000's Clooney was THAT guy..
Never thought I’d see the day someone doesn’t recognise George Clooney. 😮

22:49 it wasn't about her being a queen of poker, it showed that she was broke because of her gambling problem 😂
If you're not sure who is guest starring in an episode, they always show it at the end credits of each episode (like in Ep. 17 @14:26)

Great film. It's like a prototype of the TV series "The Rockford Files". "Goodbye" writer Leigh Brackett actually wrote an episode.
