    Greetings,
This is yet another amazing video. My question is should you add eq prior to the SSL Fusion? I know you like adding the MAAG eq in MS, but should I add an Eq prior to hitting the Fusion? For example API 5500 or digital Eq? I am new to making a mixes chain prior to Mastering, but so many engineers state that it speeds up your overall mixing experience. I come from the old school way of leaving the mixes empty unless completely needed for a specific reason.
My next question is Is it okay to use a summing mixer then run into the mixes chain. My setup is Neve 5057 -> API 5500 -> Fusion /MAAG M/S --> Dangerous Compressor (no more than 2db of compression). DO you believe that this chain will work at creating an amazing sound and volume to prepare for the mastering? I would like to do my own mastering as well just to get the experience.
Lastly I love your channel and believe you are one of the best educators on RUclips. Keep up the Great Work!

You can add an EQ prior to the fusion, I would personally have it after. But there is no harm to add it before. I have always found an EQ is great on the Fusion's insert as you have the option of mid side.
Yes you can sum and mix then hit the mix bus for processing of the entire mix. This chain setup the way you have it is ideal for printing a mix for mastering.

Would you recommend the use of M/S compression on the mix buss?

I'm not a fan of mid side compression. Mid side EQ yes. But compression no.

I'm leaning towards not doing anything with my master bus at all -I experimented with an SSL (plugin) compressor on my masterbus today. Even at 1-2db gain reduction it started to suck the life out of the mix. I started thinking how I could compensate for it because I liked the glue it created, but yeah -Just kind of a headache for me. Unnecessary step in my opinion -Putting anything at all on the masterbus at all. At least as amateur as I am it doesn't really make sense to me at this point... I'll just leave it all up to the mastering engineer...

Go all or nothing. At the beginning having only a few mastering tools is more time consuming and hassle. Only when you have lots of unique sounding units will you feel the benefit.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio Ahhh... Yes, I'm definitely leaning towards the "nothing" approach regarding having effects on my masterbus... Thanks... About the fancy units -You're saying only if I had unique sounding units would I benefit from applying them on the masterbus, otherwise, if I don't have them, I'm better off just putting nothing on the masterbus, right?

@@boobo3763 have 3 units on the master bus you'll hear a small difference. Have 20 units over the master bus each with their own unique quality you'll notice a massive difference.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio I get it -You're saying it really is an all or nothing approach. Okay, yeah... Nice! Thank you! I'll take nothing on my master bus please! Thanks! haha!

@BradleyGagne depends on the song. No songs the same and requires it's own unique setting and specific gear for specific processes.
