Starting in the 1980's, Mitsubishi marketed their products in a dealer network separate from Chrysler Corporation. Their pickup truck was named the Mighty Max. It was still sold as the Dodge D-50 by Dodge. Sometime in the mid-1980's, a one-ton model was added. This was a long bed (7 foot) model with chassis and axle upgrades to allow for a payload capacity of one metric ton or 2,200 lbs. The Mighty Max was discontinued in 1996 or 97. Mitsubishi was not the only brand to have a metric-ton package option for a small pickup truck. Most of the other small pickups had similar models as well including the Jeep Comanche. The current generation Triton club cab has a 2,400 lb capacity according to an Australian media model revue.

I agree they should bring a pickup back to the U.S market, and honestly the Triton/L200 would be nice. I knew that Mitsubishi was onto something, especially after the runaway success of the Outlander. They definitely made a smart move by introducing the Delicia stateside as the imported 25 year old ones are very popular for overlanding and camping. It essentially has created familiarity with the model and will already have fans in the US. And currently, there are very few options for similar outdoorsy vans. Plus, it will be the only Japanese brand to offer such a model in the US. This will definitely help Mitsubishi set themselves apart from the competition and offer something unique, just like how Subaru offers standard AWD on all their cars and Mazda making their vehicles semi-luxury. And of course, it is very exciting to see the other new models they will be releasing soon as well. Well done Mitsubishi!

I almost bought the 2024 Outlander PHEV and I changed my mind when I found out the MPG is only 26 when the battery is exhausted compared to the RAV4 Prime around 38-40mpg. It’ll be awesome if they bring the EVO Lancer as a PHEV.
These vans need to have off road cred with serious high speed stability and suspension with much wider dimensions and wheel tracks - it also needs to look like this D:X Concept
Adding a Delica and a truck would be huge, if they were to do it. Also, I do not believe what we call a "1 ton" is the same thing the Japanese manufacturers call a "1 ton". I think they should stay as close as possible to the D:X concept, as it looks amazing. Details on a truck have been nebulous, however that would be a game changer here, especially if Mitsubishi were to lean into it's PHEV expertise! I realize people often associate the legendary Lancer Evo and other sports cars with Mitsubishi, but the sad reality is, sports cars don't sell in this day and age like they used to. I think that 1-ton pick up truck would be the All-New Triton. As far as I know, decades ago, they called that here in Asia as a 1-ton pick up. I've read an article online that Mitsubishi had made the New-gen Triton with PHEV technology in mind for future variations, just not quite sure if they would still use the twin turbo diesel like what we have here in Asia and Oceania with hybrid technology. Before the release of the Triton, I believe some people have spotted Mitsubishi testing this truck in North America... What are the odds...
The other question one should ask is whether Mitsubishi would remain in the US market at all. Contrary to what others may impress, Mitsubishi is flourishing with its non US global vehicles like the Triton --- kept out of the US market thanks to Chicken Tax --- and recently the Xpander. The latter is an MPV successfully competing against its Toyota equivalents. The further the North American market with its regulations further deviate from the rest of the world, the more costly it is to develop US market vehicles to a point that we are seeing many auto manufacturers are willing to accept zero US presence.
Mitsubishi NEEDS to bring back the Montero/Montero Sport if they really want to make a difference in the US market again. As an owner of a 2001 SR Montero with 213k miles, these things are bulletproof (despite the oil burning). I also like the Triton (or L200) pickup that they have which would also do really well in the US market as an affordable alternative to the Tacoma, Frontier, Ranger, etc.

It would be cool if they did a rebadged and reskinned version of the new Z as a Mitsubishi Starion. I know it wont happen though. I like to think in some universe it did.
I would love Mitsubishi making a new halo car to revitalize their image, maybe a 3000GT successor? Imagine a Mitsubishi and Nissan collab where they develop a new TT I6 (or V6) for a next gen GTR and put a detuned version (400hp?) in the Mitsubishi...
Btw correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the upcoming Nissan Kicks the same platform as the Mitsubishi XForce? It has all the same dimensions and seems alot of external points for lighting and front cooling is the same?

💥 Attention Kirk, I was assisting a friend buying a car at superstition springs Toyota Arizona. Very long process ..... I was talking to a salesman unrelated to my friends vehicle purchase, I mentioned the New 4Runner & Tacoma and some of it's short coming in the Toyota off road community.... He told me that it was just put out in a dealer meeting.... That the New Tacoma next year.... Will have a optional V6......I asked 3.5 or 4.0 .... He didn't know..... But the Tacoma will be getting a v6 option
They need to release a flagship 2 door sports car to stir up hype for the brand. The Eclipse can fill that position and the Mirage can be brought back as a sporty compact sedan that'll compete with the Mazda3, Honda Civic, and Nissan Sentra
For lack of sedans from GM, if they bring back the Lancer Evo line w/ hybrid turbo engine, AWD, manual transmission . . that might revive interest in Mitsubishi in my eyes But not holding my breath
Bring back the original eclipse and the Lancer Evo, I know this has been said before but I can't think of any other way to bring back Mitsubishi from the brink...
Mitsubishi Motors needs to bring in a mid size truck to compete with the Tacoma and their ilk, a mid size sedan to take on the Camry and Accord-and offer a turbo 4 cylinder engine, a luxury sedan to go after the Maxima crowd, and even a full size SUV with a turbo V6 to complete the lineup. The el cheapo flimsy Mirage won’t cut it
No chance that the Galant comes back or gets a successor, the midsize sedan segment is dying with only 5 entries left unless they really want a rebadged Altima
what's wrong with the Mirage? I bought a brand new 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT for $25,000 out the door cash earlier this year and I love it! I'm getting 50 plus mpg and it's fun to drive and super reliable! Plus I get 2 years of free maintenance and a 10 year warranty!
'Couldn't care less about the far-fetched features of the concept vehicle; what I'm interested in would be a midsize *van* - not a minivan - with decent power. We need also an Outlander RALLIART and a Outlander Trail Edition, a sporty and off-road variant with real upgrades!
That X Force is not the same market segment as the Mirage is. So, I will have to baby my Mirage until eternity. I love light, simple, tiny economic cars.
Mitsubishi needs to hurry up and bring the Japanese passion back to the states! I’m a die hard Mitsubishi fan. Owner of a 99 Eclipse GSX, 06 Evo 9 MR, 06 Montero Limited, and 2023 Outlander PHEV with premium package. Praying we get the Triton or a hatchback with the same PHEV set up.
Nothing but a EVO will save Mitsubishi.
With that Delica, I would place a deposit for one on the spot!
Btw correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the upcoming Nissan Kicks the same platform as the Mitsubishi XForce? It has all the same dimensions and seems alot of external points for lighting and front cooling is the same?
No, it's not, the XForce is based off the Mitsubishi Xpander which is an all Mitsubishi product.
Bring back the 3000 gt VR4. They should have never stopped making them. Chuck the backseats and give me my 4 wheel steering at 600+ HP. Closest thing out now is the GTR.
I wouldn't mind driving that van . Looks like it can be driven on the moon lol.
bring the Delica to USA will be a game changer move for Mitsubishi !
No way the reason they are bringing the van to the US isn’t because of the people who imported JDM Hiaces and Delicas for overlanding and stuff
This looks so fantasy-like, it's gonna basically be a completely different vehicle when it comes to production.
if Mitsubishi put everything into the D:X Concept based Delica D6 that would probably permanently alter the automotive landscape
This is how every car should look like!!!!
Kirk you better patent that name "Digital Windshield", before other companies eat it up
but i am sad where is Montero ,still has a chance why they are not thinking abt it
I really hope it is a full fledged delica
They need to release a flagship 2 door sports car to stir up hype for the brand. The Eclipse can fill that position and the Mirage can be brought back as a sporty compact sedan that'll compete with the Mazda3, Honda Civic, and Nissan Sentra
Fire their chief engineer first then we’ll talk about those sporty design
"the snacks have been delivered"😂
I love Yamaha speakers. I have a setup that can shake the neigh orhood from my bedroom.
Wow I would switch my phev for it.
Will the XForce be similar to the new Nissan Kicks?
No
Is it going to be rebadged nissan elgrand?
Just maybe somebody that has excellent credit will buy one.
Let’s not get carried away now.
From rear, it looks beautiful, but from the front, maybe they need to make the nose a bit longer
pleeeeeaaaasssseeeee plug in hybrid, because I need an adventure awd van that'll be OK going out to remote areas. The new VW Bus can't.
I wish they would update the Mirage rather than canceling it
I want a PHEV Triton.
The DX and Canoo had a baby...
This Mitsubishi Vehicle Looks Like the Chariot from Lost in Space TV show 😲🤣🤣🤣🤪😜🫤 But I Do Like the Triton/🦈 Shark 🦈 Pickup truck 🛻😎
For lack of sedans from GM, if they bring back the Lancer Evo line w/ hybrid turbo engine, AWD, manual transmission . . that might revive interest in Mitsubishi in my eyes
But not holding my breath
Kirk, what if we told you, we don't care about EVs?
I would name the pickup as Endeavor instead of Raider or the Endeavor to be a SUV based on the current or next Nissan Pathfinder.
Bring back the original eclipse and the Lancer Evo, I know this has been said before but I can't think of any other way to bring back Mitsubishi from the brink...
Hopefully we get a sports car🙏
They need to bring back the evo and an actual car eclipse.
@BrianEugeneLee193 considering it only weighs 2000 pounds, it's not slow. It's fast enough for everyday commutes
Get the triton over US and see how they’ll do
the XForce looks like a Qashqai/Rogue Sport rebadge
It's not, the XForce is based off the Mitsubishi Xpander which is all Mitsubishi.
'Couldn't care less about the far-fetched features of the concept vehicle; what I'm interested in would be a midsize *van* - not a minivan - with decent power. ICE or hybrid, preferably, not electric or plug-in (with heavy battery packs). For such a vehicle, I'd even consider a Mitsubishi. I'd remove the seats and make it a camper.
That little Yamaha speakered SUV looks like their version of the Nissan Kicks. Further shows their alliance with Nissan.
The XForce is based off the Mitsubishi Xpander which is all Mitsubishi.
