Chrysler missed them so badly. Although Chrysler is currently suffering under mismanagement in Europe, they still have some strings attached to Mitsubishi like with the rebadged Mitsubishi Mirage in Mexico as the Dodge Attitude. And Mitsubishi still used the JS Platform from the Daimler Chrysler Mitsubishi era for some of their models like the Eclipse Cross and Outlander Sport. Chrysler Mitsubishi were really meant for each other and it shows with their continued partnership in a small scale, although both companies are under completely different rivaling groups.

I see Delicas in Japanese streets all the time, especially in the Northern areas like Hokkaido. The Delica is like Mitsubishi’s last flagship off-roader so it’s important Mitsubishi continues investment in this model. Super stoked. I think this is the right niche Mitsubishi has chosen. Add to that the upcoming Pajero/Montero, and Mitsubishi will be a dominant company on the map again.👍

In 2007 I was living in Japan and for a Sunday mountain trip to a temple we had to use an off-road taxi service provided by the park…anyway I went on a minivan that was basically built on the Pajero frame with same engine and 4wd system. It was awesome! It was probably the grandad of this new D:X.

  • @this_dude5307

Mitsubishi is playing their cards right with this. The off-road van segment in the US is actually quite lucrative. Adding on, a lot of mainstream brands don’t compete in this market. Heck even Subaru, the “outdoorsy” automaker, doesn’t offer anything like this. And plus, the Delicia is already well known in the US thanks to the 25 year old ones imported from Japan having a huge following. Looking forward to seeing the new one make it stateside!

Sorry to break it to you, but the Lancer isn’t coming. Now I know exactly which concept you’re referring to; it’s that e-Evolution concept right? Well that was cancelled a long time ago under the old devil NISSAN. Nissan cancelled the Evolution, PHEV Montero, PHEV Delica, MiEV Mirage, PHEV Triton, as well as other models that were being developed. Those were all cancelled by Nissan, and Mitsubishi recently got permission to continue development on those models, although it cost them so much loss in time, potential revenue, and brand reputation. No, the Lancer isnt coming…yet. I think Mitsubishi will soon announce the comeback of the Lancer though, seeing the current CEOs optimism and sudden ambition like with the USA market comeback for example. Good times ahead for Mitsubishi.

They need to make this 2m wide with very wide wheel tracks. It needs to have strong dynamic stability and not be an unstable vehicle like the Delicas of yore. They also need to sculpt the body a lot closer to the D:X Concept. They also need to release it from the factory set up for off road like a TRD PRO or Subaru Wilderness model eg those wheels look terrible. This needs to compete with serious SUVs not other vans. It needs to appeal to people who would not buy a van but who appreciate a cool vehicle when they see it whether it's a sports car or SUV. It's on a watching brief...
