  • There are tons of huge Tilapia in the ponds around the Tampa area. They are tough to catch but if you drop bait in their nesting bed eventually they'll pick it up and then get ready for a great fight! Enjoy the video!

Amazing fish 🐟 They don’t start jumping until you touch them, tricky!

Tilapia are veggie eaters. Kernels of canned corn or bright colored marshmallows.

The problem is the water looks pretty gross so I'm afraid to eat them. Lol

    Robbie,
Take some time to read a little more about tenkara. I don't think you have done your homework on what tenkara is. Your points about tenkara were a mixed bag of half truths and fiction. You may fish your tenkara rod any way you wish. But please remember that fishing tenkara is something very specific. You did cover this in you comments with regard to mountain streams and trout. I too have fished tenkara on a lake / pond. In those cases I would never say I was "fishing tenkara" however "fishing a lake with tenkara." You also said "Technically tenkara isn't fly fishing.. Not that anybody is keeping track." Wrong. Tenkara predates western fly fishing and is absolutely a form of fly fishing. Consider doing a little homework as I said and understand that when we don't use words with the right definition we run the risk of misinformation. I hope that those who watch this video will do their own deeper study into tenkara as it offers a very wonderful way to fly fish. You killed it with the talapia and wow!
You were worried about the line.. I was worried about your rod. :) Best wishes, Dennis

@@robbiesflytyingchannel Your video was featured on Tenkara Angler Magazines "Sunday Riffles" I hope that you continue to explore tenkara even if there aren't any mountain streams near you. Had to say something because I stand with the integrity of the form. Best wishes! Tilapia are good eating on tacos. :) Not sure about pond fed ones.
