The Black Ops were not with the marines, bro. They were a secret military organization sent by the government to nuke Black Mesa, because the marines could not secure the place after the Resonance Cascade.
They never side with the marines. In Half Life, the Spec Ops are special forces which had the mission to clean “all the mess” that H.E.C.U couldn’t do, including H.E.C.U and the scientists. And by cleaning the mess, all they need to do is kill everyone, and set the nuke to wipe out the whole Black Mesa Facility. So in HL1, there are technically 5 opposing forces now: Scientists/Guards - H.E.C.U - Spec Ops - Nihilanth - Race X (Oposing Force DLC)
Haven't played any of the Black Mesa, only original Half Life with all DLCs(except the one with Co-op) and gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed with Black Ops here. No storytelling, no weapons, no nothing bro. Basically, boring. I know that Black Ops are here to clean everything up, but it wasn't like that from the beginning. If i remember correctly, H.E.C.U.(military) knew about Black Ops and was siding with them, where Black Ops sided with military but their plan of betrayal was there since the beginning. For example, in HL: Opposing Forces, Shepard can go through the vent and her a conversation of 2 Black Ops men, talking how they've betrayed Marines. Hoped that story would be around that + some more additional twists, but it's just run-n-shoot. Overall feels like the game has been not done to 100% There's not much guns for Black Ops(but supposed to be as large as Marines), Red Night vision is a downloadable mod(should be in-game featured), Black Ops are supposed to walk in groups like Marines, also something tells me that playing as a Black Ops should involve either special Gadgets for them or Stealth mechanics. Story can be made around Marine disposal, Sabotage and exterminating aliens that Marines couldn't kill(a.k.a. Cleaners) Such potential wasted, but it's not the end to make the game better, visuals and models are good, just need rebuilding
Because you're a Black Ops operative and marines are enemies for them. Marines are not a secret service like Black Ops, black operatives have received orders from the president himself to clear Black Mesa of all hostile units, including witnesses (marines, security guards, scientists)

The HECU and Black Ops teams have become enemies of each other in Half Life lore (HL1)

I couldn't get the workshop models to work with blackops. not sure hwere I went wrong, it kept using the default models
