I saw this for the first time yesterday and this movie evoked such a perfect feeling of nostalgia and wonder. It really made me feel like a kid again, full of innocence, beholding the world, discovering everything and experiencing life for the first time. This move was SPECIAL. I've seen pretty much ever Ghibli movie but this one was different for me. A real masterpiece.
Hey Rob, I’m 45 now and the first time seeing this-in my teens-helped me see the light of innocence that was forgotten, something that is bold and just, in a good heart, I go back to this movie how often I can to relive that kid-like essence like you said, it’s very spiritual and cherished, never stop being a kid at heart-this gives us that spirit of life and wonder, emotion is a powerful drug but to balance this guidance, use it kindly always 🙏💯
My Neighbor Totoro is actually a really good film for parents. It shows a really good portrayal of positive and affirming parenting and healthy attachment. MNT does motivate me to be a better parent (if I have a kid one day)

It is so kind cartoon, so pure! I loved it from the first time saw it. And show it to my children now. I see in it, that all peoples of the world live with the same principles, kids especially. Nature, family, passion to discover...
I just listen to this because I’ve loved Totoro since as long as I can remember. Helps me fall asleep. Life can be challenging if you let it. Myazaki is a genious. I mean, there are some movies I'm not a fan of, but I always respect him a lot for his movies. I find Princess Mononoke to be a little overrated, but I get why a lot of people totally love it. Castle in the Sky is very good, though the ending feels a bit rush. I am totally in love with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, This movie is amazing ! Ponyo is very cute and yet scary for some parts... I definitely have to rewatch Porco Rosso and The Wind rises... Kiki's delivery service is amazing too... Well, maybe the only one I don't much like in Howl's moving castle (sorry I know it's really appreciated but I never get into it). Spirited Away... well not much to say about it : It's a masterpiece. One of the best of the best in terms of animation in general. But my personal favorite is My Neighbor Totoro. Was my favorite as a child, and still is today. An intemporal movie, incredible because it doesn't even have an actual plot, but the magic is always present for me, and I still have the same emotions I had ten years ago while watching this movie. The chills when the bus cat arrives, or in the rain scene when Totoro arrives, the laugh at the scene Mei encounters Totoro... It's perfect. Looking forward with very much interest to the Boy and the Heron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I may be wrong, but I think I've read that most of the Ghibli movies have the same composer. So that could be the reason why they have similar rhythm or composition.
