I know every generation thinks they had the best music, and they did, for them. I look back at the musicians I grew up on, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, Hendrix, Joplin, The Doors, ELO & so many other great ones, and I think we were pretty lucky.
Our parents may have been the Greatest Generation, but I think we were the luckiest generation. Not only did we have the best music in history in my opinion, the freest expression, but we probably had the materially best life of any generation in the history of the human race. There are already cracks forming. Our generation may have enjoyed the peak of human prosperity. Dylan was the backbone of the musical generation. Never to be duplicated. When he goes it marks the end of an era. May it be many many years from now.
@@edYGiCJb79kuQyb0n7LS I would agree with best music, but my parents thought theirs was too, and the kids today will claim Taylor Swift is the best ever and don’t even know who Dylan is, so it is all relative. If we had the freedom to express back then, there wouldn’t have been the race riots, prejudice against same sex and interracial couples, segregation etc. Times have changed for the better thankfully. We thought we had a materially good life then, but obviously with the invention of the internet, cell phones and the vast improvement in travel, technology, vehicles, science and medical treatments is far above what we had in the 60’s-70’s. One thing I believe was far better back then than today, is friendships and relationships, because we actually spent time with family and friends, while the kids today just text each other.
@@HamiltonRb Can't agree about freedom of expression. Back then it was fuck politically correct. We will say what we want. That was the crux of what the generation was about. Now you deviate one iota from the agenda of the woke speech police and you are destroyed. But certainly agree about relationships. Younger generations can't communicate in person.
@@HamiltonRb I think the difference is that our generation didn't listen to big band music but the current younger generations still do listen to 60s/70s rock. I think there is about a zero percent chance this generation's kids will have a clue who Taylor Swift is.

I could not watch this video all the way through because as much as i love this song i had to stop every few seconds just to look at Bob and and see his history on camera and photos! I just had to look at a lot of things I hadn't seen before such as some of his writing, some pictures when he was a mere lad and on and on!! Amazing work on this video Woolhall!! What a magnificent post. I can’t remember not loving Bob Dylan and his music. It is an integral part of my life. Always and forever. His voice and lyrics play in my mind often as if they are an organic part of me. Much love. Much respect. The one and only Bob Dylan. I’m honored to have lived and seen him live in my lifetime. Thank you Bob Dylan. Thanks Woolhall. This is a treasure.
Mary Goft...I've seen your lovely comments before and always agree with you. A Beautiful song, nobody else could write such great lyrics and music. Bob will live forever thru his God given talents. PS Don't you just love that unique Bobness walk, filmed back on near the beginning? So hilariously natural!
The Man The Master, The Myth The Minstrel, The Magician The Musician, The Tragedy of humanity and the salvation of the Soul itself all on Display. From Kid to Christian from Father to Grandfather. Also Dylan was some of these things too!!! lol What an Icon
MT...I completely agree, it's my favorite look too, Biblical and Bob wears it well. Thank goodness I have the DVD of that outdoors concert (not entire concert!) and enjoy it every time I play it.
Woolhall, thank 💞 you for this work of art ! Every time I listen to this song, I uncover layers of new meaning. At 72 I thought I knew it all. Listening to Bob, I know I'm mistaken. 🤠
