    Two things with the evacuation: 1) you don't need to put the flaps to full since, unlike the 737, the A320 has evacuation slides for the overwing exits, and 2) there is an evacuation command button (guarded) on the captain's side overhead panel to activate the evacuation alarm (which should be accompanied by a PA order to evacuate). Otherwise, there are no differences between the 737 and A320 evacuation checklist.

    The external injected engine simulation code and the IAE turbines are not yet implemented into the Fenix, that´s why the engine is not properly reacting to things like oil leak, oil overheating, too high vibrations, or fire. That´s why it is also not reacting to the fire extinguishers discharching. (The fire must be manually disabled in the MCDU afterwards). The PMDG 737 has the engine-related failures already fully implemented so for example when EGT is overheating or when an oil leak is progressing too far the turbine flames out, but unfortunately the PMDG does not feature any functional circuit breakers or electrical failures at all. I can´t wait until the IAE turbines and the extern full engine simulation is getting implemented in the Fenix this is going to be awesome!

      The reason you can not extinguish the fires in the Fenix is that the only engine fire failure you can select in the menu is an unextinguishable one.
      In real life in the full flight sims we use those to force situations where an immediate return or an evacuation is needed.
      PMDG models pretty much most of the electrical failures you can experience in the 737. CBs are really overrated in the 737, there is hardly any checklist (I'd only recall two, Ditching and Partial Gear Up Landing) where you would pull a CB. In my roundabout 1500 or so flights in the 737 I've never had a CB pop and only very few situations where maintenance needed to pull one for resetting a computer that went down after an electrical power drop when the GPU failed. In 99% of those cases you simply power down the plane and turn it back on and everything works again. The 737's not an Airbus where you're pulling CBs all the time to reset computers. I never had to touch one myself.

      Yeah, was a little surprised by the enormous drifting of the plane, especially seeing that I used idle reverse only initially. The 737 is much nicer to handle there.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but after the engine failure shouldn't you go for Max continuous thrust and not flex?? Great video as always ❤❤❤

      @A330Driver  Год назад +4

      Don’t change thrust unless Terrain contact is imminent below the MFRA. Takeoff data is calculated so that you have sufficient thrust available. In the 737 we go to MCT once the flaps are up.

      In the Airbus, going to TOGA is actually considered in case of an engine failure. But only used if the climb rate isn’t satisfying in FLX. After flaps 0 or 10 minutes you would go to MCT. If you didn’t go to TOGA in the first place that is achieved by briefly bringing the thrust levers into CLB and than back into the FLX/MCT detente.

    Great video! i am type rated in the A320 and when i try to simulate V-1 cuts on the Fenix the airplane just behave awfully. I ussually select ENG Fail/DMG at V-1 and i center the Beta Target and lift off and the airplane does not climb and does not hold runway HDG. What settings do i have set wrong?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Год назад

      Thanks Manuel! I honestly don't know, not a Fenix expert. Based on experience with other aircraft it might just be a bug in the flight model, but I'd nonetheless contact Fenix and ask them about it.

    Great landing! I'm pretty smooth with the 737-600 until about 700-500 feet then I start losing lateral control for some reason. Feels, like the plane is buffeted more. Maybe I'm going too fast at 140 knots. Feels like if I twitch the plane will want to bank or roll. I'm still learning but it's fun! Maybe I should lower the sensitivity of the joystick 🤔 Heaven forbid my toddler bumps into my arm. It's over then 😄. Time for max thrust for go around

  • @alexanderbeck5998
    @alexanderbeck5998 Год назад

    Very good performance from a non Airbus pilot, the last % in my opinion would have been to press the evacuation command button, but other than that it was almost perfect. Another thing I am not 100% sure about would be to go TOGA in such a scenario and than to derate to the MCT position to get max performance out of the plane

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Год назад +1

      Danke! In the 737 they always taught us to keep the thrust setting we had for takeoff and not to go to full or flat rated thrust. After all that thrust was calculated to be safe for the takeoff and to clear any obstacles with a reasonable margin.
      But I'm indeed looking forward to see what they'll teach me in the A330 type rating now!
