can you do a tutorial how to properly backup my oneplus 7 pro? by properly i mean backing up all my files, all my apps, all the app data, contacts, call history, device settings... and then how to restore the backup on the pixelexperience rom? thank you so much!
The difficulty in this is it can be painful depending on setup. Full backups can generally only be done rooted, but many apps can take advantage of cloud backups, so apps like Google One can back up most everything else easily enough. The bad part of this is if you have some older apps, but they don't have this cloud backup integrated, you're often out of luck (I have one app which I lose data each migration)

Is that copy partition thing really needed? As I've flashed it with out that and worked just fine, also other roms that use adb sideload require that too
Just confirmed with the developer this is what he said "Yes. If you want to ensure that all the partition are on same level. But that is optional" so I guess you can skip that step of you want
@@FilthyCasualTech Before that, there are twrp and there I accidentally deleted the internal memory, maybe because of this? then I flashed for pixel recovery
downloaded the firmware for the second time reboots into fastboot no new firmware even the van plus icon is left maybe that I didn’t make a backup therefore?
It sounds like it's not picking it up properly It does appear to happen with 11 sometimes due to drivers. I would update your adb drivers, and ensure you have the latest platform tools package
Thanks for the tutorial! I am more concerned with the security patch updates for my current OP7 Pro since Oneplus dont promise security update anymore, will the pixel experience 12 change that? Also is there an easy way to recover the backup once I change the ROM and get back my original data? I am not as tech savvy as most of you guys so I want to be sure before doing anything with my phone.
So far I have gotten security updates fairly promptly, feels quicker than OnePlus Backup wise, it depends what data/apps you have that you want to keep. Some older apps can't be backed up, quite a lot of newer ones offer cloud backups now and even the Google One app does some backups for messages and other logs. I ended up migrating to different apps for things like weight/fitness tracking to something that does cloud backups or at least offers an export feature. I still lost all the data for some of my boardgame tracking through as the app was too old :(
I did it the exact same way you did. Now, after I unlocked the bootloader my phone is in a loop (OP sign with the two dots spinning around) after a few seconds it restart the process i described.... some ideas?
I am trying to get pixel experience 12 on my one plus 7 pro guacamole when i try to flash the pixel recovery 12 im getting remote fail no such partition slot b any fix for this? when i reboot it brings me back to the normal boot and home screen. i dont see the copy partitions anymore in the wiki guide i would really love to get pixel experience on my OP7 Pro!
@@FilthyCasualTech Thanks! But I did find a fix for this I was using a usb 3.0 so I had to switch it to a 2.0 to make it work, then I successfully installed Pixel experience 13 plus with no errors at all and no copy partition!
I would say if you've upgraded your firmware beyond 11 and need to ensure both partitions are back again - use the copy just to be safe That said, I tend to play with fire and skip it myself a fair bit - just know the risks :)
Where is the file you used for managing the partition can't find the download link if possible please provide a link and I can see in the video your active slot is showing as 'a' and mine is showing 'b' what to do here please guide.

After flashing the ROM through the recovery, I get "Total xfer: 1.00x" and it seems to be ok. But once I reboot system it goes to fastboot and doesn't boot. Has anyone faced this? Is there a solution?
Has the experience improved on the pixel 12 like the fp issue and everything has been solved these little bugs?? As dp scanner is a pretty major concern for me
Not able to get past _fasboot oem unlock_, getting this message FAILED (remote: 'Device cannot be unlocked for technical reason.') fastboot: error: Command failed Any tips please? tried to follow all the steps. The PC is recognising the fastboot device, and I tried another cable as well, didn't help.
@@FilthyCasualTech I don't think so. I think I messed up while installing adb and fastboot. I wish there were a software for it, like for fire tabs, to get rid of the native system apps and install custom launcher as default. I'll try it again after some time. Let me know if you come across a solution for it :)
For the life of me, I cannot find a straight answer from anyone regardless of what ROM I attempt to install. Everyone I speak to leads me down a rabbit hole with no exit. How do I get "fastboot devices" to show the device ID? And how do I get rid of the "yellow triangle !" in device manager? I keep getting told to install the google USB drivers but it doesn't fix it. And the Oneplus USB drivers break every time I try to install them. iOS was easy as pie to jailbreak, why is simply flashing a ROM on my Android so much more difficult? Is there some way you can assist?
It's always a bit rough with device stuff For me, the Google Drivers was the thing that got it working I take it you've checked over stuff like this: www.thewindowsclub.com/fastboot-not-working-on-windows#:~:text=The%20very%20first%20reason%20is,PC%20using%20a%20USB%20cable. If possibly I would also see if you have better luck with different cables and a different PC
@@FilthyCasualTech I'll take another shot at it when I get some free time on a different pc. I was using the official Oneplus cable that came in the box with the phone, so that'd be odd if it's part of the problem but I'll see.
@@FilthyCasualTech So I finally got PE12+ Installed, but now the SIM card is not getting recognized at times, or my carrier isn't sure what to do with the device. Guess a trip to the carrier is in order.
Sounds like this www.reddit.com/r/OnePlus7Pro/comments/phw70w/front_camera_not_working_post_update/ Have seen it happen a few times, sadly only resolution I've seen is a hardware fix from OnePlus
Make sure you have the latest copy of platform tools developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools Also ensure the copy partitions file is being referenced correctly, with the full file name
I follow the step, install recovery using fastboot. The installation success but when i boot into recovery it not show pixel experience recovery, it only show oneplus logo with 3 Language to choose. No button show update except clear cach and format device. I already follow your step. I'm using oneplus 7t
It sounds like it's not loading correctly I would make sure you have the correct files, double check the steps and try again Check out the Pixel Experience written guide linked too for a bit more detail
Do you have to roll back to OOS 11? I have a oneplus 8t and have been looking into this rom but I'm on the latest stable OOS12, do I have to roll back?
I don't actually recall as it's not something I use. I can try and reflash PE this week to check, but alternatively you could check out FlamingoOS - I just published a review for that one and it does feature call screening
If I want to go from Pixel Experience 11 to Pixel Experience 12 with clean install, do I still need to do the Copy Partition thing? (I already have Pixel Recovery installed)
They seem to stop referencing it in documentation Can still find links to it in xda threads like forum.xda-developers.com/t/while-on-slot_a-flash-copypartitions-zip.4107729/

if you've managed to get the ROM going, then you're fine. There is a chance the device can be bricked in the flashing process and the copy-partitions step gets around that
@@FilthyCasualTech THANKS, it's running well, but the volume has been little lower and sound quality is different kind of worse than before. If I have to reflash, what should I do, should repeat the proper way again?
Not exactly You would need to find a ROM that is specifically aimed at it, as it's essentially a different device Check out this discussion on it www.reddit.com/r/OnePlus7Pro/comments/pdj6iz/custom_roms_ive_tried_for_the_7_pro_5g_gm1925/

@@FilthyCasualTech I loved it man it's the first time I installed an custom rom and It worked totally fine for me. The pixel exclusive features are really good. Thankyou for the simple explanation video.

@@FilthyCasualTech yeah, i manage to root via TWRP (live boot to the recovery).. But, for the vibration the last version of PE or PE plus doesn't have a way to lower the vibration intensity only to deactivated. Thanks for the tutorial... Your videos are well explained

I have tried other roms before and they have installed but the only thing that didn't work was the phone would not recognize the sim card and then no mobile data, is that likely to be the same with this Rom?
@@FilthyCasualTech silly Q what is YAAP? Is it a different Rom? I assume as long as I have the original Rom I can revert back to it if this other one doesn't work? I also assume the upgrade process is the same? Unlock bootloader, install magisk or Twrp, flash Rom?

Is that copy partition thing really needed? As I've flashed it with out that and worked just fine, also other roms that use adb sideload require that too
Just confirmed with the developer this is what he said "Yes. If you want to ensure that all the partition are on same level. But that is optional" so I guess you can skip that step of you want
Yeah, one of those steps that isn't always needed, but better safe than sorry :)

So far I have gotten security updates fairly promptly, feels quicker than OnePlus
Backup wise, it depends what data/apps you have that you want to keep.
Now, after I unlocked the bootloader my phone is in a loop (OP sign with the two dots spinning around) after a few seconds it restart the process i described.... some ideas?
I have seen some report the unlocking being a bit temperamental sometimes.
I would use the MSM Download tool to revert, and then try again.

I would say if you've upgraded your firmware beyond 11 and need to ensure both partitions are back again - use the copy just to be safe
That said, I tend to play with fire and skip it myself a fair bit - just know the risks :)

After flashing the ROM through the recovery, I get "Total xfer: 1.00x" and it seems to be ok. But once I reboot system it goes to fastboot and doesn't boot.
Has anyone faced this? Is there a solution?
I've had similar before where it came back like that but actually failed somewhere.
Repeat the process again from the start and see how you go.

Has the experience improved on the pixel 12 like the fp issue and everything has been solved these little bugs?? As dp scanner is a pretty major concern for me
It slowly improved over time, but was never fantastic

Would I run into any problems using this on my 1+ 7 Pro 5G? As I know the major updates have been discontinued

Is it a carrier locked device?
@@FilthyCasualTech I don't think so. I think I messed up while installing adb and fastboot. I wish there were a software for it, like for fire tabs, to get rid of the native system apps and install custom launcher as default. I'll try it again after some time. Let me know if you come across a solution for it :)
Any chance you can try on a different PC?
For the life of me, I cannot find a straight answer from anyone regardless of what ROM I attempt to install. Everyone I speak to leads me down a rabbit hole with no exit. How do I get "fastboot devices" to show the device ID? And how do I get rid of the "yellow triangle !" in device manager? I keep getting told to install the google USB drivers but it doesn't fix it. And the Oneplus USB drivers break every time I try to install them. iOS was easy as pie to jailbreak, why is simply flashing a ROM on my Android so much more difficult? Is there some way you can assist?
It's always a bit rough with device stuff
For me, the Google Drivers was the thing that got it working
I take it you've checked over stuff like this: www.thewindowsclub.com/fastboot-not-working-on-windows#:~:text=The%20very%20first%20reason%20is,PC%20using%20a%20USB%20cable.
