Oval Racing in general deserves a lot more respect than it actually gets.
What? 200+ laps at times making left turns and no mistakes, no crashes and no tires exploding? That's difficult? Yeah😂😂😂. All jokes aside, the mental strength these guys have to do that 200+ times is absolutely mind-boggling. While I still believe rally racing can be the most difficult, (I'm looking at you monte Carlo...), Nascar is absolutely insane.
@@wordguystudios4.070you still have to fight for first, you aren’t just mindlessly going in an oval
@@wordguystudios4.070I think it’s an absolute fact rally racing is probably the most difficult Motorsport. The balls rally car drivers have to do that shit is insane.
@@MICKEY-LOGANO and the fact that they can do a rollover at 100 mph and be like "welp. Sent her a little too hard, eh?" before either driving away or walking away with at most, a broken wrist or something is insane.
@@epiccman yeah. I know. I'm saying that doing that for 200+ laps and still racing is insane. I guess you didn't quite read my second half, eh?
Another reason for left turning is when it gets alot quicker you actually faint faster turning right as it pulls blood more into your heart
i believe they turn left because of the left turns
car speed is not enough to pull enough blood to have any effect, maybe if they had really tight corners but definitly not on a slanted low angle corner
@@link2g715 Oh God it's Mr. Erm Actually... What a prick.
@@link2g715 there was a series a while ago that doesnt exist anymore as the first race they where turning right on the oval and where fainting every lap and only waking halfway down the straight. They ended up canceling the race when they found out

This leads to a new question: why do horses race around the track counter clockwise? 🤔
This
Might be easier for a horse to turn left? 🤷
i may be wrong, but i think it’s because originally in the UK they went clockwise so when horse racing came to the US we said “fuck the brits” and did it counter clockwise
@@ChrisDelMac that'd be absolutely f**kin' hilarious, yee haw brother
@ChrisDelMac but then, why did the brits go clockwise?
I’ve watched NASCAR and IndyCar for years, and it made me realize how well these guys know throttle control and braking. They know how to hit their marks to a tee, and are also really precise with their shifting. It shows when they hop into prototypes and cook the competition usually.
They raced because prohibition ended and moonshine runners were out of the job with stupid fast cars.
He literally said that in the video
No, he didn't. 😂
@@ry_hellcat1562 He said they were bootleggers but he never mentionwd prohibition.

@@ry_hellcat1562 it's okay bro, everybody is wrong sometimes, I try to just not be so certain if I don't know, so that I'm not fully wrong, I just suggest a hypothesis instead!
Also it’s a safety thing as especially in those days it’s safer to hit the wall passenger side and not driver side.

Doc Hudson reference (btw this has nothing to do related with the comment)
That’s a common misconception honestly. While it is true that most NASCAR tracks utilize their oval tracks going counter-clockwise, they actually race on a diverse set of tracks and circumstances. Way more than other major racing sports do. Rain or shine, Ovals, D-shaped Ovals, Road courses, even dirt tracks. And that’s not even counting the size of different tracks therefore impacting the length and distance they race. So NASCAR is one of if not the most diverse racing sports on the entire world.
a big thing to why left hand turning stuck specifically is the slight safety increase over if we did it turning right (with American left hand drive cars). It's not much safer because cars can and will spin around putting the driver in the way of traffic over the passenger side
Doc from cars was moonshiner!?
No. He was a pure-blood race car. It’s explained in Cars 3. His friends, however, were moonshiners.
I never would have guessed that in 2024 I would be receiving a racing history lesson from a Jedi

So follow up question, why do horse races go left? 😂
Because running races went left.
Alright so why did running races go left? Because most people are right handed and it's easier to pass a Baton when turning into the center then away from it.
There's also a theory that Chariot races were influenced to go left because of the racers whips being in the left hand and wanting to keep them on the far side from the crowd, though the reigns were generally wrapped around the torso and turning done via body movement, the right hand would be the one used to maintain balance and hang on.
Okay so why do horses run “anti clockwise”?
William Whitley (look him up)
Sportsman hill
Nowadays, the way that stock cars tend to work is that if you're on the left hand side of the car, you'll turn left, because that's less dangerous because when you crash, you're more likely to hit the wall with the right of your car
Amazing how people will trash on NASCAR for turning left for 200 laps but when Indycars do it, people be like "WE NEED TO BRING BACK OVALS IN INDYCAR!!" "THE TURNING LEFT SIMULATOR 500 IS SO PRESTIGIOUS!" Like bruh tf 💀💀

Oh, moonshine runners invented NASCAR? I guess that’s what I’m gonna start racing
You don't call them "NASCAR'S" you call them NASCAR stock cars or NASCAR race cars

Oh also fun fact. It is believed that moonshine runners invented tuning
He has a piston cup?!?! -Mcqueen
It’s also a safety thing. The driver sits on the left side of the car, so if the car hits the wall, the won’t be the first thing to hit it
Boys ooh a race
Men: Hudson hornet days
So why do horses turn left?
I was wondering the same thing...
It’s easier to keep momentum while running on the left hand side. That’s why track and field is also left turns.
Wait wait wait, you mean to tell me the blue car from the first cars movie was based on a drug running vehicle? That’s wild.
No a Streetcar is an Electric Street-running Rail Vehicle that is often Interchangeable with Trolley
“Best of luck lads” im howling
Coming from a mail carrier..... you just NEED to drive something on the right hand to realize how much visibility you lose.
Most NASCAR’s turn right at every race, usually it’s just turning right to go left though.
"Rapid Roy that stock car boy..."
People don’t ever ask the same about track running and most of that is also counter clockwise
"best of luck lads" broo😂😂
this is interesting because it’s the same for roller skating that it’s (my experience) always done counter clockwise in rinks
JC is my initals
I thought he was gonna pull the

AUScar turned right
fun fact after races at the big tracks like Daytona and Talledega aka: Tona and Dega for those in the scene, the chassis of the cars are bent slightly from all the G’s.
They mainly race on ovals because around the 1910's in the US there were hundreds of horse racing tracks and people started to race cars on them and they just never really stopped racing on ovals.
My only takeaway from this is that some people say “anti-clockwise” instead of counterclockwise
Bro said ANTI CLOCKWISE tf it's counter clockwise
In British English it’s anti clockwise

Counter-clockwise ❌
Anti clockwise ✅
It also is a safety issue. Going left helps with impacts during a crash, example having a tire go flat. If you hit the wall at those speeds, at least by turning left you hit passenger side and not drivers side
They're not called NASCARS 🙃
Wanna see a right turn race for nascar? This weekend they race at Sonoma.
Ah yes anticlockwise
Now the big question is why horses went that way
My great grandfather was one of the original nascar drivers
I remember the first time I saw footage of oval racing series in the UK and Australia and lost my mind laughing as I revelled in the fact they drove in the opposite direction (makes perfect sense in hindsight)
Bro really said “Anti-Clockwise”
Here in nz, we have streetstocks that race clockwise or anticlockwise. The drivwrs dont know until they go out on track what way theyll be racing.
"They don't know what is a kilometer"

It is wild the amount of races that had origin from the alcohol prohibition at the 20s
The Old Riverside raceway was Clockwise
U always turn the direction the driver is furthest from the wall. Not because they followed horses lol... smh
Did you even listen to what he said
They have road courses so not left always

Love how a brit is giving a U.S. history lesson lol
They went counter clockwise because of William Whitley *founder of crab orchard,Kentucky,* said Nuh uh to the British going clockwise and so that’s why they go counterclockwise on horse tracks and these tracks said in the video
Who else saw "The Fabulous Hudson Hornet"
Chz that one car looked exactly like him
Never ask a nascar driver to give you directions to anywhere. They won’t give you the right directions
