    Because of an accident a few years ago, I don't have much mobility on my index fingers, so having the short travel option on the triggers has been amazing, because of the limited use of my index fingers, it was kind of hard to use the bumpers, or swap between trigger and bumper mid game (was never able to get used to using my index on the bumpers and middle finger on triggers, rooted to the limited mobility too) so I mapped the top, shorter paddles to the bumpers, allowing me to use my middle fingers on those, and the bottom, longer paddles are my A and B buttons, that was I don't have to lift my finger of the stick to jump or melee. The controller was a present, but it was my next purchase. It has made such a big difference in my gaming, definitely took some getting used to, but I love everything about my controller, the customization is endless.

    I just got the Core version because I didn't think I'd ever use the paddles, and didn't want to have to get used to all that🤣 Mainly wanted it just for the trigger stops, but my favorite feature right now is the thumbstick tension. Have my left stick loose, and the right stick tightened all the way. My accuracy is waayyyy better since tightening that right stick, less "spray and pray" 🤣 Plus being able to change the color of that button, dope affff. Trying to get a buddy to buy one now so he can see what a game changer it really is

      I have the worst experience with it. But can you do me a favour, try to press Button Y or A for example, hold it down while gaming and move it around while still holding it down ( or you can try this in Xbox Accessories). The button will trigger on and off, and if you press the button on that spot where there is a problem, it won't actually trigger the button at all despite the click sound. After 6 controllers, I am sure all controllers have this.

      @@21preend42 my Y button started sticking after 2 weeks of buying it. Xbox customer service is bs, hard to try to get someone and you have to go through loops just to get them to call you because they don’t do online chat for it. They sent me a new one but I had to pay for it first and will have to send the other one back if I want a refund. It’s such a hassle. I bought some contact cleaner sprayed it in the Y button slot and it has been working a bit better. Not going to send the controller back, going to use it until it doesn’t work anymore and than use the new controller.

      Also i am not too sure but i think within 30days they have to accept it and send you a brand new one instead of a refurb, if you bought it from Microsoft store, you will find that somewhere under order history to return it back and get a refund, then you can buy a new one.

    • @epicon6

      Yeah it's definately a novelty item rather than an absolute necessity. I play Halo a lot and i've mapped both stick clicks to the bottom paddles so i don't have to take anything away from movement or aiming when i'm crouching or zooming a weapon. Not necessary but useful.
      I have owned 2 elite (1st gen) and i'm on my third 2nd gen and this third one is the only one of the 5 that i have decided to keep because before i felt kind of bad sitting on 170 bucks when i didn't have food in the fridge so i sold the previous ones forwards second hand.
      Now that i'm doing much better in life i'll never sell it and in fact i just ordered a second one that's custom colored one through Xbox Design Lab and i still plan on buying 2-3 more Series 2 controllers from there because even though it's not an absolute must over the standard controller it's become my favorite controller ever and i like collecting multiples of my favorites like i have done since PS2 days.

      In pure honesty…no. The more parts and bells and whistles I feel like has a higher chance where something can go wrong with any one of the instruments.
      That being said I think it’s still worth a try. Most retailers like Best Buy have a 30 day return window so you can try it and return it if it doesn’t work out for you.

    Kinda late, but here are my three profiles.
    1. Upper left paddle = X. Upper right paddle = Y. Lower left paddle= A. Lower right paddle = B.
    I use this profile for games like Halo, playing Nero in Devil May Cry, Ace Combat 7 or some other examples. Usually for camera control while using face buttons or holding face buttons while pressing other face buttons.
    2. ULP = D-Pad Left. URP = D-Pad Right. LLP = Down. LRP = Up.
    I use this profile for Gears of War, playing Dante in Devil May Cry, Rocket League, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (blessed ginput experience) or even when playing Greek God of War games. Usually, games where the camera doesn't need to be controlled. Yes, I do need it in Gears of War, but holding A will move it, so works better that way for me.
    3. This one is special, or schizo if you prefer. It's my only profile where I include a Shift button, and it's rather complex.
    ULP = D-Pad Up. URP= Shift button. LLP = A. LRP = B.
    When holding Shift:
    ULP = D-Pad Down. LLP = D-Pad Left. LRP = D-Pad Right.
    LB = X. RB = Y.
    I must say that it took me a while to get used to it, and it's better to release other buttons before releasing Shift. However, the usefulness of this profile it's rather comfortable; I even played Dead Space remake without ever pressing D-Pad or face buttons during combat.
    I usually use this for Dead Space games, Resident Evil games, Grand Theft Auto V and, in general, games where most of the buttons are used.

    I've had my Elite 2 for nearly a year now, still loving it (though I have a few gripes with it that COULD be fixed via a simple firmware update but... microsoft... *cough* headphone jack doesn't work unless playing wired... fr... never heard of bluetooth audio microsoft..? there's a couple other things that frustrate me but the positive seeeeriously outweigh the negatives.
    Anyway my best tip when it comes to remapping the paddles is: use them to your advantage in a way that regular controllers lack. you have 4 additional buttons which can be pressed *_while keeping your thumbs on the sticks_* . this is HUGE, if you play FPS games or something, the ability to jump without lifting your right finger off the stick is huge, or the ability to reload, or sprint (depending on the game) you get the point. use the paddles in a way that will save you a split second. I play a lot of halo reach mcc, i use the paddles to sprint, jump, reload, and scope zoom, essentially meaning that over the course of a matchmaking game, my thumbs *never* leave the sticks, and it's a freaking game changer. on Halo Reach especially I have scope zoom mapped to bottom right paddle, and what I love about Reach is that you can _either_ click once to zoom in, and click again to zoom back out, OR you can press and hold to zoom, and release to zoom out. THIS IS AWESOME, it makes things SO much snappier when you're running around and want to very quickly scout an area- just press+maintain, scout around, depress, and you're off.
    these things only really save a fraction of a second every time, but man while you're in a high tension game and you're in the zone it makes you feel like a freaking god. Elite controller is a revolution man, i just wish Microsoft gave it more attention beyond the actual creation of the product. they could do so, so much more with updates if they actually dedicated resources to improving the product, rather than trickling out bug fixes for bugs that literally break the controller over a year after the bug is initially mass reported...
    bluetooth audio, and letting the paddles be their own respective buttons, are two main things off the top of my head...

    • @TheMightyDrake
      @TheMightyDrake 5 месяцев назад +1

      There are improvements over the first generation, but I believe it depends on if you will make use of those improvement. So, to clarify in case you have not bought one yet, I'll mention the differences and tell you my experience with them.
      1. Swappable sticks: Both have 6 of them, but the first Elite has three pairs, while the Series 2 has two pairs and two unique sticks. I prefer the variety the Series two has: The regular stick works for any stick tension I put, the soft top sticks work for quick movement, like fighting games, Dante's Inferno dodge, Skyrim hitting (I leave that with middle tension for if I use now) or if you have big fingers. The half dome stick I use solely for left stick, and it's usually the one I leave there. I believe it to feel better for the left stick than the other pairs. The long stick I use for precision, like shooters or Ace Combat (or race game, some times).
      2. Stick tension: This a feature the first Elite lacks. Is it worth it? Obviously, it depends on people, but it can make different games feel more comfortable. I'd leave loose tension for fighting games, for example, but for Grand Theft Auto, race/flight games or stealth, I prefer tight tension. For the right stick, usually controlling camera, I leave a tight tension, but some other games might benefit from loose tension or won't need it tight.
      3. Paddles size: The Elite Series 2 has smaller paddles. Whether it is better depends on the person and, likely, their fingers. Still, the shorter paddles prevent accidental pressing, and their easy to press, in my opinion, if you press with the finger joint rather than the tip. (Cannot think of a better way to explain)
      4: More rubberized surface: Better; nothing else to say. It reaches to your palm, too, which I believe makes it more comfortable and serve it purpose better.
      5. Built-in rechargeable battery: Having one already in the controller is already nice, and you don't have to worry about having to change it soon because, in my experience, it would last a whole week of about 6 daily hours and last more, still.
      6. Charging dock: Since it has a battery, it also includes a dock that allows to charge the controller even when it's inside the case.
