When I was a kid I thought I was a genius thinking that a dodrio with run away crushes the pyramid.. I EV trained it fully then started using it and quickly realised I’d been had haha
LOL yeah it’s so funny they still credit run away with an escape when you do finally run away successfully
I ALMOST did the same thing before seeing a post about how it didn't work.

I realised how amazing Emerald's Battle Frontier actually is thanks to your streams and vids. Even seemingly weak Pokemon that no person would use in competitive battles are useful for this challenge you're venturing into. Pyramid truly is underrated.

I remember ppl ran Teleport Alakazam for the wild encounters, Pyramid makes you teambuild like no other facility. I used a Houndoom to beat those annoying ghost mons and to deal with Wobbuffet bc Mirror Coat inmunity.
Yeah it’s crazy! Had to use Houndoom for that levitate floor as you saw. When you can’t run Blissey on every team this facility is difficult!
Just gonna point out at 10:22 your corsola has a suboptimal EV spread, or rather choice of Nature. You've got more Def than SpA, so a Def boosting nature will give you more stats overall
Edit: a Sassy nature on Cradily and a Mild nature on Venomoth gives you more stats

we actually covered these in a past stream before this went up lol, i dont think corsola was caught but venomoth and cradily were and so theyll be optimal when its posted. same with azu, actually, since that had a poor defensive spread instead of 252hp/164def/84+spd/4spe

For Crobat (Round 9), you might want to take off the Choice Band only for the first floor to deal with Wobbuffet.
(weak hit turn 1 so if they destiny bond you can avoid being forced to KO them turn 2)

Seeing a bunch of strategies taillored to the properties of the facility is cool. This is definitely one of the more interesting ways to try to use every fully evolved pokemon.
And I like that the encounter-reducing abilities are relevant here as well. A bit unfortunate Run Away wasn’t allowed to be insane here.
This is awesome, amazed people don't talk about battle pyramid more, it seems perfect for these sorts of challenges
Also, considering overheat was a contact move in gen 3, imagine if it became a physical move in gen 4+ that lowered your attack by 2 instead, and flare blitz was a special move that dealt recoil

The great thing about this idea of yours, is it is something only a very select few people on Earth could even pull off. It requires a thorough understanding of the game and a titanic amount of commitment. I'm super hyped.

He can either hack them in or if that feels too much of cheating, he can hack in 2 each Ditto and Smeargle, one with 31 IVs and one with 30 IVs.
I really want to tackle that challenge with these teams.

Almost all the Emerald Frontiers would have made good battle formats for PvP, especially Arena, Dome and Palace (with modifications).
Pyramid would be multiplayer hide-and-seek survival. If you eliminate all the initial players in the floor, you automatically move up.

This is such a nice teaser. First, for the actual runs. No plan has ever survived the battle field but you are also a genius at adapting. Second, for the rest of the teams. Quite curious about some of the less useful Pokémon and vice versa on everything with many potential roles. And some of the gimmick Pokémon like Smeargle and Ditto.

I just finally got the gold symbol for the pyramid for the first time the other day and man was it a struggle. Had some devastating losses in rounds 8-10. I eventually learned that I was over preparing for the wild Pokemon and not thinking about the trainer Pokemon enough in my team building process. Also was not aware of the Pickup strat, so I was stuck running things like Brightpowder Blissey and Shell Bell Swampert. Would have killed for a Choice Band or Lefties. (Though to be fair, Bright Powder Blissey had a clutch Explosion dodge!)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing you tackle this facility! Should be a great learning experience for me.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but you accidentally dropped 4 attack evs on tyranitar when you were messing with it.

This video really shows off your teambuilding prowess. You're heavily constrained by the garbage learnsets of Gen 3, but your game knowledge + the uniqueness of the pyramid lets a lot of Pokemon shine.
This is the most TECHNICAL pokemonchannel that I ever saw and it scratches my itch soo hard 🤩
Great video lrxc! I think in hindsight you might have gotten more engagement if you treat each team as its own 'chapter' - you'd explain the team, show beating it in the pyramid, then move to the next team. Still looking forward to the battles!!!

YOOOO that sounds sick. LOL that would be absurdly difficult. The thing is I still don’t really have a gauge on how difficult this challenge will be. One self imposed rule I’m going to give myself is one trainer battle per floor. One because it makes stream more interesting, and two because I wanna flex my team comps LOL
If you give Cradily a - speed nature and + def or spdef you end up with some leftover evs that you can put wherever you want.
Since its speed is so low a -nature doesn't take away that many points and its high defenses give a lot of points on a +nature. I don't know if there are other pokemon with a potentially better nature but since you mentioned Cradily's nature I decided to look into it.

you can probably get more stats in magmar with a sp.atk boosting nature
i know people have pointed out other mons that could benefit from the same logic
there should probably be a calculator that could create optimal nature + ev spread for whatever stat spread
