Really really well explained and interesting watching you draw. I'm trying to animate a simple cloud and went looking for examples and your videos have been perfect for what im looking for. I hope you keep making!
YAAS!!! I love effects animation!! One of the clearest explanations I've ever heard. I really like the thought of drawing forms rather than abstract shapes. Nice tut as always! :D
I've been planning to start doing 2d effects in 3d animations and i don't know where to start and i don't even have such drawing skills. But this gave me hope! Thank you!
Oh my God, I come across your channel for the first time. My brain is blown by all the information you give. With each video my respect for you grows, YOU ARE AWESOME !!!
Awesome tutorial, Thank you!!! I've been interested in animation for a long time and I recently got an iPad with Procreate and Callipeg and this is exactly what I love to experiment with- frame-by-frame effects.
Elemental magic is an amazing book thank you for your reference...had to animate music video through use of traditional vfx...Just subscribed..please do the timelines will be interesting to watch
this is really helpful thank you so much, I am considering going into fx animation and I was wondering if you have any advice on creating an fx showreel and where to start job wise, it would be greatly appreciated :)
The best thing to do is look at the studios you want to apply to and see what type of FX those shows have. In general we like to see some cycles, a few different elements. Also it helps to see if you can do compositing or technical fx like particles. But it varies a lot from place to place. A preschool fx animator is a team of 1, so generalists do better. In prime time, they have bigger teams so they can hire specialists, like someone who doesn't know anything about comp/ tech but can animate traditionally very well.
Thank you for this video, he was extremely helpful to me. Will you develop the theme of fx effects drawn into various categories such as - water, fire, smoke etc?
I rarely do fx pose to pose unless it's something very structural like folding clothes. Sometimes I'll do a rough pass and it's not unusual to add or remove frames throughout the process but most of the time straight ahead is the way to go.
as usual. thanks for the tutorial (tutorial introduction in this case) really simple way to explain dissipating smoke & splashes, that one you made is REALLY AWESOE old-disney-styley (do you have an extended course of those. BTW? that looks very cool)
I work in Toonboom harmony premium. I don't know what the best software is for beginners. I started in toonboom and don't really use other programs. Krita is free, and has okay reviews, but I've never used it.
when you played your rough splash i audibly gasped. so beautiful.

The best thing about animation, is worst case scenario, you make something that looks bad and you just try again :).
just go for it!
this is so helpful! thanks so much

Yes. I would love to see timelapse. If you have time, added text to highlight key moments and decisions for context would be helpful. You rock!

Amazing tutorial! Had 0 knowledge about how animating FX works. Thanks for the tutorial and the book recommendation!
Amazing! Thank you!
Great tutorial. How can i learn to draw form and wireframes like u do. I interested in drawing fx but im not a traditional 2d artist. I work in 3d
I want to learn this skill
It's perspective. Start with drawing cubes, cylinders and spheres with lines. As you get comfortable with that create more complex forms.
yeeah! fx wooo hooo!
yes time lapse fx thank you

Thank you for this video, he was extremely helpful to me. Will you develop the theme of fx effects drawn into various categories such as - water, fire, smoke etc?
I have no plan. I usually just pick a random topic every week. I do have an fx playlist that has some smoke and fire on there.
@@StylusRumble It would be a pity, a tutorial on making such loops for fx effects would be useful
i really liked this tutorial, thanks :)
lol this seems like such a cool job
It is! :D
This was a life saver
You’re amazing!!
could you please tell which software you were using?
Toonboom harmony premium.
Great video! May I ask you if you do effects always straight ahead or are there times where you animate them pose to pose?
I rarely do fx pose to pose unless it's something very structural like folding clothes.
Sometimes I'll do a rough pass and it's not unusual to add or remove frames throughout the process but most of the time straight ahead is the way to go.
@@StylusRumble Good to know. And thank you for replying!
