I am not sure what happened between them but the guy you see playing bass in this video is Kevin Keller. Watching quite a few of WrathChild's videos today and not one mention of Kevin even though he was one of the founding members of the band. I know this as I was one of the first road crew members of WrathChild. I was the "only" road crew member actually when they started out. I did sound, lights and stage tech. Watched 42 road crew members come and go over the years yet I stayed the course and hung it out with the guys. Kevin being the biggest reason I did at times as he and Shannon Larkin (my itty bitty buddy) took up for the road crew at all times as they truly believed that the band made it "rock" and the roadies made it "roll". I don't know the circumstances of Kevin Keller leaving the band but it must have been as bad as when I left for them to not even mention him in any interview or anything. That seems pretty harsh seeing as he wrote quite a few of the songs I have been watching today. The most memorable being "London after Midnight". Just know that you are not forgotten Kevin Keller. Seeing this video at LaMours brought back some memories as I was with them the first 4-5 times we played there. Twice we opened up for Twisted Sister there (most memorable night of my career even though I had never heard of them.Dee and Mark the animal were frickin huge and 2 great guys. Though Dee was not too happy when Shannon whipped his ass playing Pacman), twice opening for Accept (our sound man Fred was mistaken for Udo and was rushed by people standing in line when he arrived and I got to run lights for Accept as their light man got wasted a little early) and we also opened for Freeley's Comet's. (they brought Ace Freeley in off the tour bus on a stretcher right before he went on, gave him a shot of heroin and he rocked the house for 40 minutes before collapsing on the floor and being put back on the stretcher and being rolled back onto the tour bus to leave. He didn't even know what town he was in). I also remember that bands like White Lion, Poison and Ratt practiced in the basement of the L'Mours in Brooklyn. Great times there.
Yeah, you can find Kev on FB. He don't talk about it either. He's still cool. I remember, faintly auditioning for 'Salem' when he left Wrathchild. Christ I'm old.
I was at the show where Brad had to play bass for the first time. I'm not sure if it was expected or not, but I remember it being a strange situation. But they pulled it off, and the rest was history. I am a couple of years younger than the guys, so I was never privy to any of the story of what happened.
We’re these guys from PA ? If so this is the Wrath hold I’d always see in PA Musician magazine. They were just called Wrathchild at the time until they got their record deal I guess. They went on to a heavier more extreme sound didn’t they ? I prefer this stuff more. I remember when I was young I put a picture of them from a PA Musician add for their gigs. I’d never heard or saw them but I thought they deserved the wall because they looked cool. lol
Oh and this was one of the songs that was pivotal in changing directions and going heavier. Shannon and Jay definitely hated this bubblegum shitty song. It prompted songs like Candy from a Madman and Silent Darkness and others which swayed way heavier tones and rhythms.
