Please continue this series. I never got to hear the teachings of the Buddha from the Buddha himself. Thank you! And thank you for reading from the Source itself - meaning it sounds like you are in meditative Oneness as you are reading to relay a clear transmission. 🕊🐋🌺
These teachings were, unfortunately for us, passed down only by word of mouth for centuries before being committed to a written text. I’m sure it’s close, but certainly not word for word of what Gautama originally said.
I led a guided meditation at our Zen center last night and incorporated Verse 8 (Thousands). Then, I open RUclips this morning and this video is at the top of my suggestions. Coincidence? Probably. The work of invasive algorithms using the data from my Amazon Kindle app to populate my RUclips feed? Likely. But very cool nonetheless. It's a great way to start the morning. Thank you for all your videos.
Thank you sister for reading this gem, The Dhammapada was the book that led me to seek the truth of my being, many years ago, found in a second hand book shop in London while looking for hard to find books on Sufism. Turning the first page of the twin verses I knew this was Truth. It is the S. Radhakrishnan translation with Pali text etc.
Great recording as always, you have a fantastic voice for this. However, I wish it was possible for you to do a different translation of this great work.
@@SamaneriJayasara There was a small handheld version that I had and kept with me but, I lost it some time ago. I don't remember who did the translation but I remember it flowed much better and as a result seemed much clearer. I will have to look online to see if I can find the translation I am talking about. But this one is ok I guess.
Sure, I'll have another look in our monastery library where we have loads of different translations too. I think I know the one you are referring to....I suspect it was Ven. Narada Thera.
@@SamaneriJayasara Actually I found it, It was a translation done by Thomas Byrom and Gil Fronsdale. I don't know how accurate that translation is, but it made sense to me at the time.
Dear Jayasara, another great recording! Thanks! 🙌 I was listening to another one that I downloaded from your Google drive named Words of Buddha Part 1, last modified September 25, 2020 but it wasn't completely downloaded and now I'm trying to find it to download it again and see if there's a Part 2 in any your folders and different traditions but cannot find in which one or by that name. Would you kindly let me know if it is under another name or in which traditions folder to look, please? Thanks for your generous and thoughtful service to this humanity.🥰🙏
Thanks for letting me know. It does this sometimes and I have no idea why. I have amended it now. Here it is for your reference: www.paypal.com/paypalme/VivekaHermitage With all good wishes

Which translation do you like? There are so many different ones.

@@SamaneriJayasara I would be interested in hearing Narada Thera version instead of the Thomas Byrom one, it seems like a good english translation.
