- The Dhammapada is a collection of sayings of the Buddha in verse form and one of the most widely read and best known Buddhist scriptures. The original version of the Dhammapada is in the Khuddaka Nikaya, a division of the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism. The title, "Dhammapada," is a compound term composed of dhamma and pada, each word having a number of denotations and connotations. Generally, dhamma can refer to the Buddha's "doctrine" or an "eternal truth" or "righteousness" or all "phenomena"; and, at its root, pada means "foot" and thus by extension, especially in this context, means either "path" or "verse" (cf. "prosodic foot") or both. I do not know if it is humble to say if I have been enlightened, or if I am a fool. Perhaps I am both. For I am new to Buddhism but I have been Buddhist for over three decades and not knowing it. The more I seek The official teachings The more I realize I have been blessed. For I have walked the path alone, and now it feels like I have found some friends. I am very thankful for my life. For I feel my cup is always overfilling. Without our cups over filling we cannot fill others. When we become one we are one with God. But the word God has many meanings. And Buddhism I believe you call it Nirvana. It is the higher self.
For when I was younger as a child I knew that I would have lived the same life you lived as you would have lived mine. We are all the same person just living different lives throughout different times. For the Buddha was enlightened, he was still a man. The continuation of knowledge of wisdom takes different shapes and forms. It encompasses each man differently. For what I experienced was different but yet the comment denominator was the same.
I really enjoy listening to this I heard this for the first time today.
We are all friends, yeah we are all one. The only thing that separates us is our perception of self.

Some trees produce alcohol in their sap, along with other medicines. They are prized by indigenous peoples as sacred trees. Some people get high as shit on coffee or certain types of tea. Some alcoholics generally don't get drunk. I've known some quite enlightened alcohol drinkers. And some who prize themselves as sober in vanity and ignorance. Sincerity and true intent will translate the Buddha's will better than blind attachment to doctrine. Peacefulness is a true treasure. Compassion is it's greatest tool.

What you felt is the Tao. In meditation one becomes aware of an underlying presence. I call this presence the Holy Spirit or Tao. One realizes that one is intricately connected to heaven and earth. This presence animates our very being. Do not be afraid, embrace it. You will also start to feel the subtle energy permeating the body.

I have but one question 🙋🏾♂️ on the topic of anger (around 51:52) the Buddha instructs us to use love as a guide, but previously in this same section the Buddha instructs us to be above love, to transcend it and to free our mind of it. Is this because when you are in a lower state of anger you may need the higher vibrational frequency of love to pull you up (and then you re-transcend love) or is there a deeper understanding to this?
While it may be belated, your inquiry prompted contemplation on the nuanced teachings of the Buddha, particularly regarding the interplay of love and detachment. The initial reference to ‘love’ underscores its association with attachment, not an aversion to affection, but a counsel against suffering when that attachment dissipates.
