14:45 - You know you’re an elite level drummer when you notice the tuning of one of your toms is slightly off & fix it mid song. Well done, Blake. Thank you for posting this. It shows how much you know us drummers live for these kinds of videos.
I am 100% with you,but I will say that having no on stage noise really helps in picking up everyone's individual instruments. The guitars, bass, keyboards, and vocals are only going out the PA,so to get a clean drum recording you just have to get it from the FOH mixing board.
Being able to actually see the rudiments you use on those super fucking killer parts is my favorite thing about watching you perform them. Whenever im trying to learn other drummers stuff, i always love attempting to recreate it exactly as intended before i play the way i feel comfortable with certain grooves or stickings. It opens up such a new wild toolkit of awesome ways other people design drum parts. You were one of the newest drummers to wow me, my friend recently showed me this band and youre a new drummer im super invested in learning about. Rock on!!
For real I love being able to learn some of these parts from videos like this, they're skill-builders and then some. He's got a drumeo video coming out hopefully soon, can't wait for that.
I just want to acknowledge that left-hand lead blast at 21:06... Kudos to Blake for actually working both hands leading since it seems to be a lost art in modern metal!
@@eliminatetheleader Idk if he's left handed, but he did say on his stream something like he learned rudiments leading with the left side, which is why he does it so often. You can see him leading with his left foot as well.
Weird left foot shenanigans at 18:22 and I think he even leads right hand blasts with left foot at times like at 21:11. His technique is very strange lol.
@@jamesbundy5617 aw James you gotta make it to one, it's an amazing experience. Plus you know Blake, you can probably get in backstage. Blake must've been a fun delivery, guys a character. Take care my friend.
You guys were fucking epic in Seattle. in the most cramped sweatbox of a shithole club! One that has GREAT sound and is a BLAST to watch a show at! Like a concert inside of a giant sauna! EL Corazon. I needed that show man, THANK YOU!
it's cool to hear every note you play, really exposes you're technique for the betterment of other drummers. hard to play that clean at that speed, but you pull it off incredibly well! guess years of practice pays off. feel like the often overlooked part of this is the writing, like how tf are you coming up with a lot of this?! I get the straight ahead blasts and grooves during alot of it, but I've heard the other guys say a lot that you're writing the transitions, which is pretty nuts when you listen to the music!
To me this is what is most impressive about Blake, his chops and timing are incredible but I think his creative, memory, and endurance is what separates him from the pack
Definitely agree. Discovering BTBAM and Blake was revolutionary for me as a drummer. I've listened to bands like Symphony X and Dream Theater for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until I heard Blake that I was like "That's how I want to play!" His clarity, accuracy, consistency and creativity blow me away every time, and pushes me to keep improving more and more
@@davidpardy haha, when I was in my first bands as a 17 and 18 year old, and this goes back to the mid to late 1990's, we'd always ask each other the question, what do you want your band to sound like when you're a full fledged musician? I could never put my finger on it, then I heard btbam, colors specifically, and I said, THAT'S IT! They fit the mold of what I always considered to be just about perfect, to me anyway.

This was an amazing show! (I believe I was just to the right of the camera in the front row.) Can't wait for the inevitable Colors II tour (hearing Fix the Error at this show was such a tease!)
I love btbam to death, and when I purchased my tickets 1.5 years before this show, the 7:00 mark was the ONLY reason I wanted to be there. Thank you for absolutely killing it man. Best concert I’ve ever been to 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Fuckin awesome!!!!! So happy I got to see you dudes in Sacramento. I still haven't missed a year of seeing you since 2012 (including live streams of course lol). Can't wait to see you next year UNLESS there's another tour this year...just sayin' lol
Thanks for posting this! Unfortunately had to miss the show in Ft Lauderdale. Florida Covid cases are insane, it was a small club that kinda sucks, and my friend to go with beat cancer recently and has kids and didn't want to risk it. I thought about going alone. But unfortunately I heard someone in the band possibly got it at that show? Pretty wild. Hope everyone is well. I'll be there next time which will be my 10th!
Dan didn't get it in that show, he got it a few days earlier and the other day his test turned out positive I was at the FL date though and I think your friend made the right call. Very few masks, club was hot as fuck, and it was packed tight. Hope you get to see them next time!
Yeah I was at that show to and got sick. Just a sinus infection (COVID test came back negative) but still pretty bad. Under my circumstances I don’t regret my decision, but definitely going to be very picky on where I take my risks.
Uploading videos like this is extremely important for the education of the next generation of drummers.
Good work, Blake.

If this doesn’t cement you as one of the best drummers of all time I don’t know what does.m! The clearness and just how tight you play is remarkable.
The audio on this is the most satisfying thing in existence
Finally someone has done a live drumcam video using board audio this is awesome! Nice reverb on the snare as well.
Oh my god. This is giving me hope that you guys will put together a live album... PLEASE!
