The idea of these videos is to give a "realistic" view on the whole process involved in making an instrument and not just the "fun" part, as well as showing how much attention to detail and time is necessary during every step of the construction.

Very impressive work on that. The reason I looked at your video is I am curious about a cello I have that has a bass bar with two high spots, above and below about where the bridge is and it dips in the center where the bridge is, not the standard shape. I do not know the maker so i was wondering if you know who the maker would be by that unusual bass bar design. It has a restoration label dated in the 1940's by someone in Philadelphia. thank you good luck

You're doing them at night, really? That's quite interesting, I would be waaaaay too impatient and uncoordinated at night to do a bass bar 😛
And also, I have had a few bass bars be marked on the outside of the top after gluing, and the top hasn't been too thin. Is it because I use too much water for removing glue or is there a different reason?
Hahaha, well, I usually just finish it at night, but I do most of it during the day ;)
Maybe you're using a bit too much pressure with the clamps or else there are a few holes in between the bass bar and the top, so it's glueing basically by pushing the top towards the inside in those areas where it's not closing perfectly and then that leaves some marks on the top. But I'm not sure what type of marks you're exactly talking about so I'm not sure I can help with my answer haha

Please tell me how to find the location of the bass bar? It's the same way, like a violin?
why not carve the bass bar out of the original spruce wood of the top?
