That's a glitch we call the Neon Switch, which allows us to save our second Neon Shot while doing other things, like using different weapons without losing the Neon
It was going so well and then it just... didn't. Friggin' Violen. That's where it all started. Overall, still a great run, but it could have been so amazing.
As awesome as video games have become over the years, I'll always believe the pinnacle of home gaming is the Neo Geo. If these games were released on the NG, the graphics would still pop.
My whole life and childhood i deemed impossible to get the buster upgrade without getting the air dash... ive tried countless times to just dash off the wall and this dude just does it np seriously wth man! At least now i know its possible XD
I'm fairly sure the reason for that is either he uses the dash before he shoots or he is charging the buster long enough to do more damage but too little to change the animation, whichever it is he explains it at the start of the run.
Can't be;live he didn't use the sub tank for Violin? It would have been refilled time and time again before he needed to use it again. Also, what is the world record time currently?
"While Wire Sponge is named after a sponge (technically an animal) outside Japan, his design and original name are derived from "hechima", Japanese for luffa, a vine plant that produces a cucumber like vegetable that is dried and sold to be used as a cleaning sponge."
Run starts at 1:15.
Picking up with all mm x-zx gdq's and I'm glad you guys added a time card for no fuss gameplay
This speedrun is probably in memory of the best maverick hunter. RIP Green Biker Dude.

Megaman X and Zero speedruns are just the best
They are fun as hell
12:05 I never saw X enter in a room in this pose! 23 years and still learning more stuff in this game.

Great run! Always nice to see Caleb on the couch too. Wish he was running something this year.
Will never not watch MMX runs @ GDQ. So fun every single time.
Great run by Darren! A lot of impressive execution on this run.
I never knew that it was possible to get the X-Buster upgrade without any power ups. Awesome!
Me neither. I spent almost forty minutes trying for it with the grapple hook from wire sponge.

Had same experience with neon jump

CNC Cocoa Violen is the worst tbh
Caleb on the couch with the commentary 👌
The Violen deaths cost about ~2:06, plus elevator skip cost 0:18 - the time would've been a 41:34 without those mishaps. Either way, great run!
I imagine using the sub tank would be risky because he wouldn't be able to fill it by the time he gets to the last fight.
1:26 noooooo...

Serges phase 1, completely insane
hype hype hype hype hype, thanks GDQ staff and everyone involved.
One thing to note is that performing this live in front of a crowd can really change the way you perform. Good job Darrenville great as always.
I was 25 when I started to watch GDQ. Now I'm 30
That doesn't add up.
Wow that surges fight buster only was amazing
Some bosses seem incredible difficult in Buster Only Mode. Great play though
Love the way the runner goes "AAAA" when he gets killed by violen, he kinda brings me back to jontron.

Walrus_prime hype! Big day!
Is it just me, or was mmx2 made easier in terms of bosses? Am I seeing single buster shots doing two bars of damage to some early bosses? :o
I'm fairly sure the reason for that is either he uses the dash before he shoots or he is charging the buster long enough to do more damage but too little to change the animation, whichever it is he explains it at the start of the run.
That's just what they're referring to as "dash lemons" where uncharged buster does 2 damage while dashing.
Nice info, you guys, thanks! Hell, next time I play this Ill use that trick. ;P
This is the case for the whole original X trilogy
27:56 - HOLY SHIT!!!!!!
Caleb huge af

@16:44 SIC
As a person that has played Megaman X2 a lot, that skip messed my brain!
"slow bois" lol
That is so cool
OMG!! You took the part from Wheelgator without leg part and the Wire Sponge gun. Hoooowwww?!
It's a precise jump from the right wall to the ledge that you would usually grab onto. It's pretty tricky, but possible.
Transmission Fluid is red.

3:14 can someone tell me how they did that no joke
Did they run these old games on their respective console? or did they just emulated them through PC?
All GDQ runs are done on original hardware.
Lol at the posh guy "RNG this, RNG that, RNG blah blah blah....."
