It just basically underlies the concept that you shouldn't be committed. Because once committed to a cause, love, relationship or mastery you always must carry around that added weight of commitment and what associates itself with it. Therefore if you decided to commit to love you have to be prepared to deal with arguments, negotiations, family visits, paying extra etc etc :)
you couldn't have said that any better. I'm back..and i now completely understand it. It resonates with me well at this moment of my life. I knew this quote had some deep meaning to it..deeper than what i saw in it before
Buddhism :) Letting go is always the hardest part but as soon as you realized that we all have to let go at some point then this speech makes sense so as Buddhism...
@sandinyourshoes This trailer encapsulates every meaningful part of this film, including the "overall theme". This speech by George Clooney's character is the very heart of everything in the movie. If you can't see it, it's you that might need a little growing up.
Such a great movie. It didn't get the recognition it deserved. More than the story of the character, it told the sad story of the decline of a generation of American workers into the dustbin of history.
Trust me once you encounter infidelity, this theory makes perfect sense...Biologically, we're not monogamous creatures...Focus on yourself, this should be your priority in life. People change, situations change and those things aren't under your control; however, your gradual self improve is under your control. If you're really dead on marriage/long-term relationships, take your time, seriously...
Then you realize how lonely you've become with your empty back pack.... We're not sharks, we just like to pretend we are. In the end we will realize that we need those same baggages keeping our backpacks heavy to be happy. :)
i'm sorry but can someone explain this to me? i remember hearing it and i completley understood it and it was amazing but now i don't understand it at all. idk why lol
Its all in there. When you revisit this scene at the right point in your life with more experience, it'll be as clear as day. That goes for all art.

"The slower we move, the faster we die..." I'm going to make a bumper sticker that says this.

@sandinyourshoes This preview is perfect. You are imperfect.
you can put aside everything people tell you it is important. you don't need to carry all these problems because other people do it.
Im a teen ager and it make a lot of sense to me.
make no mistake moving is living.

@sandinyourshoes That's true. And of course, making money is what life is all about.
