I’m collecting manga right now & I’m about 400 volumes deep so far with only about 10% read. I kinda started splurging on random series I thought was interesting without reading them yet. Good tips! I’m slowing down my collecting until I test read some on the Shonen Jump app and even anime can be a good idea to test out a story and see if you enjoy it enough to collect and read the manga. That’s how I got interested in reading Haikyu, I watched the anime first and really want to read it.

I can't say that I'm a newbie in collecting comic books (not only manga, also BD, local comics from Ukraine or even something else) and books (literature), but you just opened my eyes on few aspects, that really have been causing some struggles with reading all suff I already have on shelfs. I used to buy series in bulk, as you mentioned, but at the same time I was concentrated on amount and forgot just read them before buy more volumes. First tip in video is very valuable for people, who already started to collect their own library. For last year I spend more time to find information about story that looks like interesting to me, and sometimes it's cooler than just add it to endless wishlist and buy it without any idea what you will get in result. FOMO and compulsive desire to have EVERYTHING is a big problem not only for beginners😅
I like the idea of a To Be Read Shelf. I'm going to use this tip as it will help me keep track of what series I want to start reading as well as help me keep track on what volume in a series I'm up to. Thanks Bo Knows 😃
I’m glad I found this because I just started manga collecting, and it is in fact addicting! I have some mangas I haven’t even read yet which is bad! 😂 I’m not too deep, but I’m restarting my collection, and this time I’m only collecting things I know I’m actually going to enjoy and not just choose something because the cover looks cool. Great vid man! 💪🏾🔥 Also I see you’re a One Piece fan. I’m currently on Zou about 4 months deep watching this show and IMO I think One Piece will definitely go down as the greatest anime ever story wise it’s perfect! I’m almost caught up man I’m trying so hopefully by the end of next month I’ll finally be caught up, and on the Egghead arc.
Thanks for watching. Best of luck on building back up the collection. I just started the Wano Arc and I excited. But they really need to stick the landing for the ending of the series, it’s what I’m concerned about, cause if it has a sorry ending it could ruin the series for me.

I will say, conversely to your last point, if you DON'T mind condition as much, please consider buying second hand! I have not paid more than $4 for any volume of bleach, and while lots of them have yellowing or library markings, they are in very readable condition. (and a hot tip for used-book buyers: a hairdryer is your best friend to remove stickers since you can melt the glue enough to peel them easily. Hairdryer + goo gone = virtually pristine books)
