I put my throw line on a spool like that too. After watching your videos I'm going to put my bar and chain oil in a detergent container as well. I know your videos aren't how to videos... but they certainly point out things I need to learn. Learning climbing and tree work for maybe 6 months now rigorously and everytime I get confident I realize there's much more I absolutely need to know. Thank you for your videos. They're entertaining but also helpful in their own, non-how-to way.
sounds like you've got an open mind to the various options out there, which is certainly a good thing. What an exciting time to be breaking into tree work ... good stuff buddy! take things slow and double up on safety. most bad accidents happen early on so stay safe!
Dude I love it. I'm just a homeowner that does tree work and everything I haven't learned by experience I learned from these arborists on RUclips. Every tree a new challenge. One thing I don't think RUclips can teach you is how to trust a 4 inch spar when you're 80 feet up! Prayer helps! God bless. You're probably way ahead of me now since I only need to take down a few a year and not all even need to be climbed. Many times I have wanted to quit software and start a tree business even with the paycut. I wish you the best.
@Version135 paycut? You sure about that?
@@metaspencer thank you. I absolutely will
@@metaspencer No i really have no idea how much you make i guess. I'm sorry if that came off arrogant and/or insulting i just figured its gonna be slow going building a business.
It’s always amazing how one little twig can hold up a whole tree…. Great work man
It's so crazy! blows my mind every time I see it
Good job Spencer. You’ve been cutting down trees and I’ve been planting. I grafted 75 apple rootstock this spring. 73 have taken so far so I’ll be planting them soon. You need to do a chestnut orchard update.
that's a pretty good success rate on the grafting! we lost a few chestnut trees from last year's planting but overall they're going strong. This year's batch seems healthy though a few (2 or 3 out of 100) were duds. So it goes I guess :)
Looks like you were using the ground crew's saw there at the end. No wonder they didn't get any work done.
So that was the problem! I knew something was off that day :)
A lot of trees and some big trees, that must have been a long days work
long day for sure, but always good to be out there :)
Always enjoy watching your vids. Work ethic, skill and get it done attitude, without the preachiness that some deliver. Not a how-to statement, just how I stated it 👍
I had a good chuckle on that one ("not a how-to statement" haha). Much appreciated. Seems like when you get to work on something there is always some benefit that comes from it
(and I just found a great channel through your feed: Matthias' Cabin Chronicles ... good stuff! thanks for the tip)
That little rascal has some lift !!
yah ... it sure does :)
Very cool to slash & dash.
Glad you missed the gear.
Nice work
yeah that was quite a day :) good hearing from ya man
@@metaspencer we all need to see you doing your thing more. I may just have to start & watch em all again I guess.
Now you're just spoiling us Spencer, 2 tree videos in a single week?! Thanks so much for sharing! Be safe out there dude. And give Tink and Milly a scratch for me :)
Nice of ya to say! And Tink and Millie are doing great ... looking forward to their morning walk at the moment :)
good job on all those big ones... looked like fun too 😀
The SOUND of those behemoths coming down. Woah!
Look like a fun job nice job Spencer 👏
You said it: great to be out there
"Fun fact I think I left my saw under that tree" 😂 Looks like fun job!
it's a good day when you make it back to the shop with all your chainsaws
Tough job, Spencer. Well done. Thanks for the video 👌
Good to hear from ya buddy. You said it: tough but rewarding
That's a great idea to make a table like that! I have some big maple logs waiting for me to do something to them and a decently high stump to take care of.. maybe I will try that!
I’ve only made a few that way so far but it’s a lot of fun thinking upside down
Nice Spence
That was a bunch of trees, some of them a little scary. Thanks for taking us along.
yeah sketch factor kicked in a few times for sure :)
Did you change your saw from winter mode back into summer? Did you switch the heat tab out?
Ya know I got home that night and was thinking "dang, did I switch the tab?" so you're right ... that was it. Kind of a relief it was just a brain fart! thanks man
You hit the tree jackpot
I guess you could say that, but I like the look of your lakeside jobs my friend :)
Doin my first job of the season today. Only did a handful of jobs last yr. Low an slow baby
Sounds like a good time to get started! Things picked up slowly around here, too ... but now everyone's got a tree that needs something :) hahaha ... stay safe out there buddy!
@@metaspencer thankyou sir, your the model iam tryin to follow with my own twist. Thankyou for posting your work.
@wolverinebear5357 gotta have that twist! Good stuff
The ground team didn’t work too hard this time ^^
Yeah the crew got a free pass to take a day and swim in the lake ... or maybe that was the next day :)
@@metaspencer And it must be all tanned now :)
Might as well get you a log truck and start hauling buddy!😂
A man can dream!
Yo Spencer hope your day went better than mine… I got my foot crunched by a large maple round 🤦♂️
Oh man, that sounds painful! If you don't have a cold creek to put it in, then ice!
Ooooo that sounds bad
@@LazarBeamLazar was definitely not fun
If you don’t mind, did you bid that at a day rate or per tree? This is my favorite type of tree work. I really enjoy lot clearing/felling. Thanks for the fun videos!
I bid that one at my "I really wanna do the job" rate :) Thing is I thought it was gonna take half a day, so I put in for half my day rate, and ended up crawling home at 5pm. But it happens. Nothing beats that kind of experience :)
@@metaspencer Been there done that, lol! Be well!!
👍
I’m not sure it’s right you’re not rocking the “Spencer” brand logging tape....😂 Great vid!!
It would likely be 8' long max and pre-kinked and knotted upon delivery :)
9:30 I like the Kwiksafe pouch looks like it could easily hold a 100 watt corn cob LED. Where did you get that?
it's a bolt bag and you're right: would probably hold a few of those bulbs amzn.to/4b8ZTe4
@@metaspencer $47 eek so I had to go with the Klein 5416TFR $20
@joeshmo5399 good choice! Klein makes great stuff
Whatever happened to your rv prison bus? I remember watching it back in the day. And I just thought of it again. Do you still have it? Or maybe you got rid of it. Sold it maybe
The prison bus! What a great project and fun bus. We moved half-way across the country and I could only take a few vehicles with me, so yeah ended up selling it. I miss that thing!
A lot of work for the ground crew
yeah where are those guys? :)
I think the 500i is having a carb issue 😂
Kinda pissin me off - these modern high tech gizmos …. Gotta spray carb cleaner on the circuit boards
hello.. how much cost that job?.. I'm curious... where do you live?.. looks cold there in your videos
you're brave!!
It’s wasn’t cheap but good work
I know is not cheap and very risky!..I would like to compare prices there in NY and Florida.. could you give me an estimate for a pine tree 70 feet tall.. just an estimate. like from this to this..
this is my fist time watching for videos. you're very brave!.
I hope you stop climbing soon.. that's is very dangerous.
@ailindelvalle7483 haha good times out there!!
You
Need to plan better for the hanging fruit my man
yeah looking back at this I completely agree ... work backwards and think ahead a bit more :) livin' and learnin' all the time
