I made as instructed. I've been using now for a few months. I did add some rosemary oil. I only use it three times a week. The additional water i froze in cubes. So i take out the amount of cubes needed to refill my bottle. Working good on my locs. My hairdresser has notice a difference. 🌹🌹🌹🌹
That ice cube tip is amazing! Thank you for sharing!!!
I have dried roses that I have from my sister's rose bushes and roses that was given to us too. I also use dried lavender buds. The lavender helps with the smell and has anticeptic properties, growth and strengthing, moisturizing. I let them steep and I also add other herbs to steep also. I strain and I freeze what I don't need and thaw out what I need. Then I add even amounts of distilled water and aloe vera juice because it's concentrated. I also add about 1/8 teaspoon of germall plus or optiphen. I have an old video on how I make my rose/lavender water. I didn't add other herbs at that time.
Thank you! I'll Check it out =)
Nice!🌹
My 5 yr old Sisterlocs love this I’ve been doing it this way for years. Works great moisturizes perfectly and shines great
🌹 I'm soooooooo very glad I came across your video, I just locked my hair and received info that rose water was really good for locs...I though it was simple as letting roses soak in water and as I researched DIY videos, everyone was talking about the ice, distilled water, and all these steps. So my thinking was I'm excited about doing it myself, however I was not excited about doing all these steps each time I needed to make a new batch (I'm just saying, I know me), the mysteriously after weeks of researching and watching videos I come across your video which is something that I can definitely start and continue to do... THANK YOU, heading to start my first batch right now!
I will have to give this a try...it seems that it was pretty easy to make 🌹
It was so simple and pretty fun (:
Great video! I really wasn’t about to do the extra for the distilled water
🌹Thank you for the DIY on rose water. I was wondering about rose water and will give this a try!
🌹 Thank you for this. Definitely going to try it.
I'm gonna try to this. Thanks for sharing
I DIY my rose water for my locs too. I also enjoy making my own. I keep it refrigerated, dilute the concentration with distilled water before I use on my locs. My locs is 10 months old, and I found that the mixture is very moisturizing and makes my locs soft. This could slow down my locs process, hence I used the spray only after shampoo or when my locs is extra dry. DIY rose water is cost effective compared to what I paid for my initial one😊
beebi072011 thanks for sharing that to for those with baby locs! You’re right it is a lot cheaper
Moisture makes it grow
🌹🌹 started my journey two weeks ago. Haven’t bought a rose water so I might go ahead and make one, lol.
Thanks for sharing! I plan to try this🌹🌹
You’re welcome 😊 I hope you like it !

The A.M. Show thank you (: I appreciate you sharing my page!!!
I made my own rose water and it was awesome!! I got that beautiful scent and made my curls pop on this 4c hair. I did add biotin oil.
🌹. I’m a DIYer and gonna try this 😘
🌹🥀🌹🥀I just started my sisterloc journey on 4/30/22 I can't wait to make this for my locs..... thank you 🌹🥀🌹🥀
Oh yay!!! I hope you are enjoying the beginning stages of your journey!!!
🌹🌹 Thank you! I am going to try this!
I hope you like it!
I really enjoyed your video so much 🌹🌹💗
Great video! I followed you all the way to the end🌹
Thank you so much 🤗!!! I am glad you liked it =)
The colors can change depending on which color of roses you use. Any color rose will yield you great rose water. The one you purchased used pink roses, however, I actually love it on my hair, face etc…,thanks for sharing
A few drops of natural rose essential oil will make it smell floral and nice and it mix well in the water and is not harmful to your hair or skin.
Thanks for sharing!!
I was thinking about that too....
🌹⚘🌷🥀 definitely going to try this. Thx sis!
You're Welcome. Hope you like it! I have been using it as my only moisturizing agent for a few days now. I am actually pleasantly surprised with how well it is working. I will have a video reviewing this diy soon =)
🥀 u killed those beautiful roses lol just kidding like billy .. I’m gonna go to my garden now 😂😂😂
🌹 I’m going to try this
Hi! New subbie here. Thank you for this tutorial. I am about to make my rose water right now and remove the bottle from my Amazon shopping cart. You rock!

🌹 Loved your video !!! I will be making my rose water instead of buying it! Thanks for sharing ♥️🌹🌹
You’re welcome 😉!
Thanks for sharing it was very informative🌹
You are so welcome =) Thank you for watching !
Hey Nia. I've also watched several videos about making rose water as well. I'm definitely going to give this a try. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome =) Let me know what you think !
Love the feedback at the end
It stinks because u used boiling water instead of simmered water and it sat too long. U don't want it to boil and u only need about 5 min. Just a few tips from my batch
Thank you!
What is simmered water ?
@@jessicahall-pough slow and low heat.. like a crock pot
@@ChassyJazzy thank you 🙏
🌹great video!
I forgot to put mine in the fridge and its been 3 days. Is it ok to use or should I toss it?
Great video thank you! Do you think different colour roses produce different quality waters? And perhaps the store bought water used white roses ?
Thank you so much! That definitely makes sense. Maybe that’s what causes the difference.
Did you make sure to get roses without insecticide?
🌹 nice one! Thanks
Thank you so much for watching =)
I wonder if you added some floral essential oil if it will make it smell even better 🤔 I going to make some for my sister who had locs and for me when I get my locs this fall. 🌹🌹🌹
Selena Holland see this is why I love yal!!! That’s a great idea. I’m going to try adding some lavender oil.
@@Niaimani92 🤗😊 I love watching your videos. I saw your pic you posted with your t-shirt on from your line 😉 👍 samples in? I went in and bought another based on that pic. I love it. I believe it's the one with the larger emblem.
Selena Holland thank you so much!!! I hope you like it (: I’m in love with everything I received so far! I get more samples tomorrow! I can’t wait.
🌹Loved the video but I need to ask one question...Are the Roses chemical free or is that an issue?
🌹love the video it was very interesting.
Thank you! 🌹
Thank you for watching 😊

Great video 🌹

Do you always use fresh roses? could you use dried ones if you'd dry them up for a winter use?
I do always use fresh, but that’s a really good idea! I may try it. Thank you 😊
Also does the rose water need an emulsifier so the water and oil doesn’t separate? Or does shaking it before use help or mix before applying ?
Personally I just shake it each time I apply it but you will need a preservative as water is a breeding ground for bacteria. I recommend geogard ect because it’s a broad spectrum preservative. Use it between 0.6-1.0% weight of your finished products. Also either rosemary or vitamin e as an antioxidant so that the oils you use in your water don’t go rancid.
Thank you for this recipe! 🌹 I tried it right away but the jojoba oil separated and solidified on top really quickly. Did you have this issue?
@@lizregular7639 thank you so much for watching! That didn’t happen for me immediately, but after the liquid cooled more it did.
🥀 Thank you for sharing!
The color 😍 what the heck are they selling us, all the different brands of rose water I’ve seen have clear water?? They got me out here purchasing bottles of dreams deferred.
If I can find some preservatives that can help maintain the product for a month or two, I’ll def try. The two week turnaround is a bit often for my lazy self lol. I fear I’d waste the product since I don’t need to moisturize often. Until then, ole reliable coconut oil shall hold me down moisture-wise. I’ll use up the rest of my bottles of half-truths to test scents and spray bends out of my hair when necessary.
They're clear because the rose water is distilled. This one isn't. That's what she meant by the long way and the short (easy/lazy) way of making rose water. The distillation process is where you place smaller containers in pots and place ice over the pot. You get more out of the rose from distilling it, and it lasts longer.
Ahhh ok. Thank you for the clarification!
Bottles of dreams deferred lol 😂!!!!
I think the water is clear because they do not put the roses in the boiling water, which supposedly preserves more of the benefits. I didn’t have time to be getting like 4 bowls, a pot, and a bag of ice. I did this the easy way. If I don’t experience any benefits, I know making rose water isn’t for me because I don’t have time to do all the extra lol 😂.
I wonder if adding citric acid as a preservative would help. I've used that before in my diy flaxseed gel and allow vera gel
Not dreams deferred😂😂😂😂
After I make my rose water are you saying keep it in the refrigerator for about two weeks before I use it on my locs? How ofter can I spray it on my locs?
No, I’m saying unless you use preservatives in your rose water I would keep it in the fridge and throw it out after 2 weeks. I’m not a chemist, but I do believe it goes bad. I hope it works out for you 😊💕!
🌹 Blessings sis!
Thank you so much for watching!!!
Hi Nia, I enjoy watching your professional channel and I find you share good and needed information on maintaining Sisterlocks. Whereas, some Sisterlock vloggers who share their lock journey on RUclips has a lot of over tones of popping lips and extra dramatic gestures (that is annoying and distracting), which do not keep my interest (and others) in getting the information one is seeking. Most people find their time is precious. Nothing is more irritating than sitting through a video that has no substance.
Juanita Hi Jaunita ! I really appreciate this compliment. My bachelors degree is in education, so I approach most of my videos like I would a class lesson. All lesson plans start with pinpointed specific objectives that you are wanting your class to learn. When it comes to my videos, if my audience doesn’t leave knowing the points that I identified as lesson objectives I’ve done something wrong.
It makes me happy to know that you are connecting with the content, and I hope that it continues to resonate with you.
😂 this is sooo true

🥀⚘🌷your hair looks beautiful
Thank you so much 😊!!!
My pleasure. I am thinking about starting my loc journey and just researching. I need a good loctician to start me off right.
That heritage store one is the only one I’ve liked the smell of for my daughters sisterlocks.
I bought really expensive ones to begin with and they just smelt like stale urine to me.
My locs don’t care for sisterlocks, aloe juice, distilled water and some essential oil work better for me.
However, my daughters sisterlocks seem to do very well with rosewater which I apply to her hair and scalp every few days - really shines and moisturises. We do have different hair types and I wonder if that’s it.
Leecey Leece stale urine! That’s it! That is exactly how it smelled at first. It was horrible! The smell changed once the product cooled off though.
I use the Heritage one too, but the one with glycerin.
Nice! 🌹
Thank you =)
I really like you, so informational...
Thank you!!! I appreciate your feedback (:
🌹 thanks for da game sis
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊
Informative
🌹Great Video! RIP Chinx YAY!🫡
🌹🌹🌹. Thanks big help
My only comment would be to add essential oils when the rose water is cool
Debbie thanks for your comment!
Hot wouldn’t hurt either if it isn’t boiling js
Over heat boiling
Do you think the stench came from the roses not being organic?
I am honestly not sure, but that's a really good question. It could have been the pesticides or something.
Do you think it would be ok to use on beginner sisterlocks? 👀👀
CaliforniaDreaming26 good question, I think it depends on your locs. I would definitely not put very much oil in it if I had baby locs.
🌹very nice
🔥🔥🔥
thank you ^_^

🌹
You should give Bulgarian rose buds a try.
🌹🌹
I tried that other rose water as well on my sister locks and did not like it. Going to try the DIY rose water.
I’m actually really enjoying the diy rose water! I definitely think you should give it a try (:
🌹🌹🌹
You can add some essential rose oil, for the rose scent!
You are sooooooo beautiful!!!!!!!
Thank you so much 😊! Today has been a really rough day for me. You have no clue how much your small token of kindness has impacted me in this moment. Thank you .

Roses really smell like booboo....really they don't smell good at all
🤣🤣🤣 thanks for taking me back to the 2000s with your comment lol.
Carolineeeee.....
She's the reason for the word witch! Witch!
Exactly. I never knew why people love them so much. I think they spray the roses with a fragrance so they smells good.
Drop a rose. Thank you for the info.

Thank you for sharing. Can dried rose petals be used? I have a giant bag of dried rose petals and need something to do with them. I might try it just to see. 🌹😊
That’s a great question. I’m not sure. I’ve never tried that before. I’d say it’s worth a try 😊!
Im making my own. That pale pink clear water they sell i think is coloring or lighter roses and not alot of it either
