Just a recommendation for next time, try and buy organic roses from Whole Foods(Whole Reade Gurantee) that have no pesticides and chemicals, but still wash them off first and use distilled water instead of tap water....basically DIY organic rose water!
I’ve been making my own DIY rose at home for about 4 months now. I too used bottled water and I add some oils (including a carrier oil) Avocado oil, VitaminE oil and grape seed oil. And I spritz my hair daily with that concoction. ❤️
This method lasts about 1 week. I've read the distilled method lasts about 6 months. I *may* try this. In general I don't care for the smell of rosewater. I may add Lavender flowers to see how I like it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice! I keep wanting to try this method with fresh flowers but I’ve been using the steam distillation way and it’s been going pretty well so far - I make mine using organic dried rose (Damascus) petals, peppermint leaf, lemongrass, and hibiscus flower
This works perfectly I just made a batch following these your instructions thanks so much The only thing I did different was wash the petals off first because the flowers were sitting on the table just to get rid of dust and Just in case there were some kind of pesticides or anything like that sprayed on them because I am unsure of where they were actually grown
If store bought roses are like daisies then it could be a dye that the seller applies to make them bright red or colorful. I’m going try this! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for this video. I figured it was made this way but it is very helpful watching it. I'm super lazy and I have so much rosewater at home that I brought from Amazon so when that ia finished I may try this. I would love to hear the updates. Thanks Dae
Great video as always Dae Cause these manufactured bottled Rosewater be expensive The color tint of it looks similar to that of rosemary water. Must try Blessings
I love this thanx for sharing. I'm gonna try this and add some essential oils to it due to me having bleached hair. it gets really dry most of the time.
Thanks for sharing Dae. I actually made some last weekend. I used dry rose petals and I too was surprised of the deep red color. I used distilled water and let the water boil. Once I boiled it, I turned the heat down and let it simmer for about 20 mins. Then let it cool. I measured about 1 1/2 cups, but after the boiling, I probably ended up with a cup which was ok. I was nervous too about using it, LOL. I didn't worry about it staining my hair, but did about my bathroom! It didn't and I was happy. I also used it on my face which was HUGE for me as I am very particular about what I put on my skin. I liked it also and liked the way it smelled. Most of it I threw away yesterday as it was a week old. I will make it again, but only in a small batch as it doesn't have preservatives in it....not sure what happens after a week and don't want to chance it. Will try it with real roses though next time. I also use the Alteya Organics rosewater (thank you for that suggestion!!) but because of the price, will use that only on my face! :). It smells wonderful.
Hey, just wanted to let you know that homemade rosewater is good for 6 months as long as you refrigerate it! You don't have to throw it away after a week
I tend to buy food grade rose water! It's pretty affordable and tends to be at grocery stores for $2 a bottle (if there's an Indian/Middle East/Mediterranean area) or on amazon for like $7/ bottle
made my own a couple months back but funny i prefer the one i get from the beauty supply... something about the red color IDK and i feel like it made my hair look dry...unfortunately
I've watched a different video but they said you're not supposed to make it like this. In the video I saw, the water was clear. It was distilled rose water, not boiled. I wish I had the link...
Bianca Majanja well I have had years to compare regular water to rose water and note how well my hair stayed moisturized throughout the day. I have heard of some where it did not make a difference so it does also have a lot to do with hair type. I have very course hair.
DaeLocs yes when you steam there’s almost no color in the final product. I wanna say it lasts longer too since there’s no organic matter in the water - I make a fairly big batch of mine and don’t refrigerate. Just used one yesterday 9/28 that I made on 9/5
Mine too and they don’t smell so good. Trying everywhere to look for some advice. No luck yet. I tested a patch on my skin and so far it feels alright. But I’ll rather just use my on my hair and body and not face

I made some last week....my parents have roses growing in their backyard so I swiped some....😂 I love it so far and it was free💕 thanks for the idea

I'm definitely going to make my own after watching this and I can't wait to see your update on it.
Keia FNay enjoy!!
So this is how rose water is being done. I will definitely do this. This is very helpful. Thank you.

Im sure it smells delicious. Like a good herbal tea..im going to try this. Thanks
Can you share your steam distillation process please?
lovinmylocs1 search for NaturalBeauty0214 on here and the video is titled “How to make real rose water for locs” 😊
I have some hibiscus so I’m going to use some of those too

Yes please update us on the DIY 🌹 water. That’s awesome because rose water is a little pricey. Thanks for the video. ☺️👋🏾

How long is the shelf life for it? Yes would love to see you in a week. So I see how the rose water holds up in the bottle. Thanks beautiful💕
Great video as always Dae

The color tint of it looks similar to that of rosemary water.
Must try
Blessings
I loved this! Hopefully I can try to make some in the future! How does your hair feel even now after you've been using it in a week?
Kraxy Kam I love it! Super moisturizing
LOVE THE VLOG AS ALWAYS. HAVE A BLESSED WEEK.
Great video queen! I think I maybe the only loc sister that can’t stand the smell of Rose Water! It also makes my allergies go haywire!😱🤣❤️
I'm thinking I'll try it with white roses
I will be making some from now on! Thank you!
You definitely have to refrigerate it and try distilled water next time.
I love this thanx for sharing. I'm gonna try this and add some essential oils to it due to me having bleached hair. it gets really dry most of the time.
I’m not even done watching and I’m already planning on making my own lol
Yea let us know, appreciate you!
deenatural1 aww thank you!
Nice!! I'll def have to try this
ChantelleChanti yes! It would be a great braid spray!
I’m going to try this
I want to try this in the future, but will a preservative need to be added to elongate the shelf life?
Bri Jennae that’s exactly what my only concern is! I threw it out after a week just because I was concerned.
@@daelocs LOL...I just read this. Yep, don't chance it.
@@daelocs can't you put it in the fridge?
I made mine last night. It’s refrigerating. Do it go bad over time?

Hi 🙂 can I blend anything with the rose while it boils to make my rose water?
I made some too added olive oil to mine. Haven't used it yet. I think i am scared of the color and smell. Lol TFS
Keep it refrigerated or it will go bad.

I wonder if poppies work too those grow in my park
made my own a couple months back but funny i prefer the one i get from the beauty supply... something about the red color IDK and i feel like it made my hair look dry...unfortunately
I felt the same with my hair
Also, do you leave this in the fridge after every use?
Kraxy Kam for the first few days I did. If you plan on using for a long time. I would recommend!
I kept mine in the fridge and tossed after a week.
Did it help your hair or damage it?
I've watched a different video but they said you're not supposed to make it like this. In the video I saw, the water was clear. It was distilled rose water, not boiled. I wish I had the link...
Chrystal's My Gadget Kitchen I’ve seen those too! Great for toner but, I’ve been using this for my hair and loving it.
@@daelocs ok great! This way was easier
Thanks so much😊
Ahsaki Fore-Hood you’re welcome! ❤️❤️

The Homemade,is,100%rose
how do you if it’s working? i always felt like it was all hype. but maybe i use the wrong kind
Bianca Majanja well I have had years to compare regular water to rose water and note how well my hair stayed moisturized throughout the day. I have heard of some where it did not make a difference so it does also have a lot to do with hair type. I have very course hair.
My DIY rose water turns it like a dark pink color and gets every where on my walls and counter! Def keep a magic eraser on deck 💀
Montranique Runnels 😂😂 omg not on the walls
DaeLocs yes my mom hates it 😭! I use it for my face and hair and i never see it until it dries!
Montranique Runnels apparently there’s a way to make it without the tint lol more of a steaming instead of boiling
so funny....that is what I was worried about but didn't see it anywhere except in the sink when I dumped what I made after a week. :)
DaeLocs yes when you steam there’s almost no color in the final product. I wanna say it lasts longer too since there’s no organic matter in the water - I make a fairly big batch of mine and don’t refrigerate.
Just used one yesterday 9/28 that I made on 9/5
I used light pink roses and my water came out brown☹️
Mine too and they don’t smell so good. Trying everywhere to look for some advice. No luck yet. I tested a patch on my skin and so far it feels alright. But I’ll rather just use my on my hair and body and not face
