@@gamemasters Also would be interested on your thoughts about allowing a monk to use their hand for the other half of Nick if if they have a weapon mastery property through a fear or a multiclass. I know RAW it doesn’t work, but would you allow it at your table, if the player just explained they wanted the aesthetic of a monk using one blade (like a dagger) and unarmed strikes, rather than two knives and kicks?
The short of it is that weapons with the nick trait can be used in two weapon fighting without spending a bonus action, as long as both weapons are light. The style works the exact same way, it let's you add your ability modifier to the off weapon dmg. The feat is mostly the same, except it lets you add 1 point to either Str or Dex, and it no longer grants +1 AC. In short, two weapon fighting is now a viable style for dex melee builds, since you are no longer sacrificing your bonus action.
i would love to hear your take on the new origin feat Musician.... I am not the kind of DM that bans things (my players were slinging Silvery Barbs the week strixhaven came out) but this musician feat....
So, Durable is now just the Dwarven Fortitude feat from Xanathar's, minus adding your Con to the roll, and using a bonus action instead of needing to take the Dodge action? Granted you get advantage on death saving throws, but that's part of the champion fighter's shtick, not to mention the Reborn lineage. I'm sure there are other ways to gain advantage on that check, not including Heroic Inspiration. It would have been nice if you could have still added your Con modifier to the roll too. I don't know. Feels weird. Regarding the new feats, I'm curious about the Musician feat. Seems like an Origin feat version of Inspiring Leader.
I can cover both of those. They are sortav similar.. but also different enough to provide something different, and can likely be used in conjunction (although I doubt that the same song would trigger both effects).
@@gamemastersDurable General Feat you can get at level 🎚️ 1 , does it have to be 4th Level 🎚️? What do you think would be good or great feats for a Monk ?
I like the old effect better. The new one is a worse version of the Dwarf feat. The advantage on death saves is good though, but the super efficient Hit Dice on a short rest will be sorely missed.
I'm not keen on the ability score increases. Ability scores seem to just have close to no meaning any more. I DO like the advantage on death save, that's cool.
Thank you for the video! I am currently deciding between Speedy and Durable for my Con Feat for my Eldritch Knight and i really like the Advantage on Death Saves + the healing. I just really wish we could add our Con modifier as well, that would be at least 6 HP then. Chef is also a cool Feat to consider. Which of theese feats would you take?
I wonder what kind of balance they put into the game for this. 4th level can be a climb, depending on your table. It just seems 5eUpdated is leaning into the super hero high fantasy style. I like more risk in this game.
honestly, I think it all depends on the table. Mine, for example, is closer to a Conan movie. Magic exists but it's not heavy, however, there are parts of the world where it's VERY heavy (but for the most part my players have not even been there yet).
@@erikfry671 I like 5.24, first because of year, second it's changes aren't enough to justify a 5.5 lol. I do like the changes but it is also a marketing move.
@@aaronwilliams8887 Of course it's a marketing move. They're a business. and the first order of any business is to stay in business. I don't like all that they do, but ten years before they did a revision? Not bad.
I like this one! Especially the Bonus Action to spend Hit Dice. It doesn't limit it, so you can do it round after round. Amazing!
well.. until you have no more hit dice
@@gamemasters You know it!
I CANNOT wait to see the panic on a player's face when they realize this for the first time. 😁😈
You do get ½ your HD back after a long rest.
I’m curious what ever happened to Knick + Two Weapon Fighting + Light Weapons + Dual Weilder Fighting Style? How does that all work in the 2024 rules?
hmm... this would be a good one for a video explanation! I'll get to work on that!

Durable 💪 strong i want this Feat for my future Human Monk ( Warrior of the Ascending Dragon 🐉) Background Folk Hero.

Awesome you cover just one feat and also make your own graphic so it does not get blurred out by WotC :)

I genuinely hope this is just a sign of things to come for feats in 5revised (as I'm calling it).

I like the feats.. but I also still like 3rd editions feats and how they worked...
So, do you get all your hit dice back after a long rest?
aye, you regain all spent hit dice back after a long rest.
@@gamemasters Did they change that? It was (in 2104) up to half your level in spent hit dice per Long Rest.
How many times can you take the Feat?
ToV doesn't have a direct correlation to this Feat, but its Talents can be taken several times...
I think only Skilled can be taken multiple times. At least, it was the only one advertised on D&D Beyond as being able to.
there are some feats you can take multiple times, however, Durable can only be one.
