- Episode 279 - This week we go back in time to Spring 2022 when Andre and I visited a beautiful Georgian Hall permission. One of the fields was used as a cricket pitch in Victorian times and is absolutely loaded with old coins.

Hi! I am 28 and I’ve been wanting to metal detect for a few years now. I have just bought my first kit and I’m so excited. I’ve contacted a few farms in my local area to see if I can be allowed permission. I would love to come out with you and learn from you all about this peaceful, wonderful hobby. I’m from Nottinghamshire so not far from you. What do you think?
@@jdicky2020 hi, if I was a full time detectorist, I'd happily meet up with folk for tuition sessions and things like that. But I work all week and have family commitments at weekends. I get little to no time to go metal detecting. The only small time I get is all dedicated to my RUclips channel. Things may change in the future though 🍻

Hi Troy, yeah it was a very pleasant spring day that back in 2022. Haha yeah believe it or not my channel currently generates around £250 a month from RUclips ad revenue. This is one of the reasons I work so hard on my channel. If I could get 100,000 views on every video I uploaded, I would not have to go to work and could become a full time detectorist. That's the dream

Hi John, this isn't a replayed video or a re-uploaded video. I have a hard drive with several other days filmed but never got round to editing. When I have no content, I take something from the hard drive. Keeps the content coming and keeps uploads consistent. We believe they used one of these fields as a football pitch in Victorian times. They obviously had a lot of coins and a lot of holes in their pockets haha

Flipping heck Gareth that's some coinage right there 🤣👍🏻👍🏻 fair play. All I found today was 4 scabby Georgian and maybe a Victorian coin but can't tell as they are that knackered! 🤣🤣

Hi mate, yeah this was an epic days digging but after 6 hours and tonnes n tonnes of coppers, you know full well there are silvers there n it gets frustrating haha. Amazing location to detect, I did not get another invite unfortunately. Thanks as always for the visit. G

Nice little coin haul. Lovely silver but check your EdwardVII for the open 3 in the date. If it is an open then it is one of the rare ones.

Great Video Gareth, I would say that the Edward VII penny that you have found at 9:51 looks to be uncirculated. Its just green from corrosion but great finds! Keep it up

I've been out Saturday and Sunday this weekend, only found one pre decimal.. a lovely 1865 penny.. amazing condition.. that's it though!!
Hi mate, thanks, yeah what a place to detect this is, unfortunately not my permission and didn't get another invite. This was indeed filmed back in Spring 2022, but has sat on a hard drive with several other unedited days. When I have no content, I use something on the hard drive as backup. It helps to keep the content coming and help with consistency

Hi there, yes this was a proper coin fest and I sure did get fed up of filming them all, especially as they were almost all Victorian pennies and half pennies. I appreciate finding them though, but left them all with the landowner to enjoy. Thanks for watching

I'm wondering if you are detecting a cut down forest. Very often these types of coins were placed in the hole on planting for good luck to the tree.
Why do you swipe over contacts quickly? Surely slower would be more accurate?
Hi, the XP Deus2 is super fast, in these settings and on land like this it is not necessary to swing slow. If I was using so called "deeper" settings, then it would be advised to swing slightly slower. I know this machine will hoover everything up on this property no problem at all. Hi Gareth i was wondering in your next video if i could get a shoutout ive always watch your videos and metal detect myself with the time i can get i found only 3 silver coins and lots of old copper but do u have any suggestions on where the best places are to gets old coins like George III or Victorian
Hi, I potentially can, but I might forget. I don't even know your name? Any old farmland will produce old Georgian copper, silver and occasionally gold coins. But you need to be using a good metal detector and you need to know what you are doing and what that metal detector is telling you
