Sukhoi series usually have TVC, because they are big and heavy aircraft with good lifting capacity, so bit rise in weight, doesn't bother the aircraft, whereas MiGs in service don't have it even after having this technology because, it will definitely affect their lifting capacity as they are already small aircrafts in comparison to Sukhois.
And also before you ask questions based on why we have it when it's useless, please be careful when you watch the video, it's not useless, there are advantages too.
It's all about what you want to trade.

TVC shall prove to be beneficial for 5th generation aircrafts as due to their stealth they can come even closer to enemy aircrafts unlike the current 4th generation aircrafts as most Dogfight concludes with tracking down enemy before it approaches you and target locking from BVRAAM's, TBH no such TVC benefits at that distances could be observed, it's good for only Air Shows at this moment.

3D thrust vectoring used for sharp turn leads to stall and aircraft also loose altitude...which is a disadvantage in dogfight. That's why raptor use 2D vector only for pich.

3d vectoring thrust is only useful for airshows but it has something to do with radar signature so I prefer 2d vector thrust

This was a very good video. Good analysis and good explanations. My key takeaway is that for MMRCA we don't need TVC. But for example in the case of Yak 141 or F 35b which can do VTOL and if India needs a small aircraft like Tejas to do landings in our helicopter carriers we will need to figure out TVC for Tejas LCA?
Thats need more than the TV Nozzles. And the so called modified tejus may be capable of lifting weight of less than 1-1.5 tons?
Tejus can never go to VSTOL.
@@MINATOYELLOWFLSH2005 take a look at Yak 141. We can ask to Russian collaboration to design a viable Twin Engine Tejas LCA VTOL and incorporate that design in Kaveri.
It would be perfect for our helicopter carriers in the future.

@@Value_Pilgrim opposite prototype against F35 was using the conventional VSTOL. The exhaust of the TV nozzels do became intake air for the engine. Hence there were a lot of issues with it.

Totally depends on what the user wants, it's always an optional pack.
Just not with F 22 as it's not available for sale.

which thing would be hard for you to hit with a sling shot... something that turns slowly ( good sustained turn rate planes like F35 or F16), or something that can turn in the blink of an eye (instantaneous turn rate thrust vectored planes like Su 35, F22).
@@thetopsecretpentagonsclass6350 Yeah... you need to do that, because that mach 4 number is pretty arguable for a slow ass less agile bvr missile, it only attains that speed when distance and altitude between fighters is optimal, 70% of the time it's half it's speed, only R37 hypersonic missile can reach that much speed on an average. And F35 is made to evade dogfights which it cannot do because it has inferior stealth compared to j20 or f22, (we got that from chinese encounters between f35 by j20s in south china sea). More than half of the f35s are always grounded to repair ram-coating and sensitive parts, the cost of operating this aircraft made korea and japan to pursue their own 5th gen fighters, and you say this is a war machine ?
It's a joke, even american government is buying back the hideous F15 back which was already inferior to the flanker, US air planes will continue to be a joke until f22 is not carrier borne or some better option arrives.
f35 is the biggest joke one can make in aviation, period, You can't win with just bvr missiles when enemy closes in faster than you fire one or two of them, we've seen that in cope India exercises too, long range claimed F15s getting their ass handed by Mig 21s, so yeah I know my fair share of aviation.

You didn't mention, how much will be the weight gain due to TVC ?
There is no exact number as such, it completely depends on what technology they are using, so GE can have different numbers, the Russian Saturn can have different numbers.
But will be around 500-1000 Kg.
Once a jet gets 360 lock feature, there will be no much need of a dog fight & vectoring. And as you said, it's a great feature if it's light weight & low cost.

I personally feel it has to do a lot with aerodynamic, balance ( and quite a lot associated with SU series )
Western F16 pilot was totally unaware of anything like cobra manaovers ,and were amazed when pilot saw...

I'd say useless due tot he fact that if you pull a crazy maneuver something will go completely wrong such as becoming an easy shot for your enemy,bleeding too much airspeed,damage to the airframe,and possible blacking out of the pilot

You and I will never know the correct versions, because we both were not there and nobody will tell you exactly what happened.
I was expecting at least a video from a rational person but no problem. What you think, pakistan is expert in hiding(osama in Islamabad for 15 years), then this is a small incident that can be conceived but it is history that in Pakistan truth comes out after a decade. The so called ISPR told on that day about two pilot captured on the fight day. Who was that second pilot who admitted to MH. overall can I say pakistan got upper hand in this scene.

They are big aircrafts, so little bit rise in weight, doesn't matter to them, that's why it's only on Sukhoi series, whereas MiGs don't have it, even when they have the technology.
I completely disagree.. Even after successful cobra maneuver.. When aircraft reaches minimum flying speed, aircraft can maintain @ enemy's 6 using its thrust vectoring and fire missile.
Though it is only possible when there is no enemy's wingman at the dogfight site.
Thrust vectoring will be highly useful in dodging a missile.

And how the hell would the pilots see if the missiles are coming? And 3d vectoring thrust just acts like a horizontal stabilizer or elevator (not a elevator from the buildings the elevator that makes the plane fly aka the back part that is nearby then afterburners)

Bro if you say that it's not practical to use thrust vectored nozzle then what is the use of primary guns as we know the concept of dog fight are too old and now bvr air to air warfare are being used more often.... Chengudu j20 removed primary guns from its arsenal and it was considerd as stupidity...

Admin thanx for your camment on my lines . i watch & understand your thoughts but our su 30 mki is survived due to this tactics.
I well aware about 2d 3d and normal trust vactors system same time i tell you that cannard played nearly same.roll just like gripen or rafle and typhoon done.
But in our airforce su 30mki do this job well but now days bvr missiles is come in to existence so moanuvar is not such important. Same way assa radar work put limits on manuvares.

@@vasantnaik4723 watch the Su 35 or MiG 29OVT's maneuvers carefully, after using the TVN they almost stop in the air, that means if multiple missiles are fired, one will definitely hit, because of almost no energy.

Yes its true every system have its own merit and demerits.
But i give example that our jet survives aginst 15 engine jets due to its manuvare and jamming and lots off thing but now all 5th generation jets are used its. I dnt knwon why exact reason but even our AMACA

I think TV is necessary in air superiority jets.....One of advantages of thrust vectoring is allowing aircraft to enter and recover from a controlled flat spin, yawing aircraft without worrying about rudder, which looses effectiveness at high angles of attack...plus in BVR fights TV helps in notching by maintaining a 90 degree angle on enemy jets radar....and it also helps to outmaneuver enemy missiles by bleeding it's energy.....!!!!
And it's own too, one missile you can, but if Two are coming and you use TV, you are a dead man.

Are you sure TVC was used?
With TVC you can dodge one missile... And you will loose your energy almost close to zero after that... And no one can save you after that.. the second will surely hit you.

F-22 mein 2-dimensional TVC hain, Su-30mki, Su-35 mein 3-Dimensional TVC hain.
Haa, 3D TVC ke bhi advantages disadvantages hain lekin Aakhir pilot apne aircraft ko kaise udata hain uspe bhi bahot kuchh nirbhar karta hain. Sabse bada example, 2015 Indra Dhanush exercise jaha experienced Indian Su-30mki pilots ne British Euro fighter typhoon ke pilots ko 12-0 se all forms mein haraya tha.
Even without TVC, it can be done the design is so good.. if you ask most of the aviators they think it's kind of a useless technology, I have seen many interviews of Fighter pilots saying it's not useful in actual dogfights, one of whom was of a veteran MiG 29 pilot of the IAF.

Americans believe in beyond visual range kill....to hit the enemy before they see you and lock you, in that case thrust vectoring doesn't have much use.
In close combat / dogfight thrust vectoring can be useful, Russian jets are excellent in dogfight...
One maneuver and you lose your energy, and till you recover, you can be a dead man.
